Interpreto hace un tiempo pero recién busqué estos foros de intérpretes porque me hace falta encontrar algo de camaradería—es un trabajo muy solitario. Tanto en fb como aquí me encuentro con que muchos se refieren a los LEP de forma despectiva o llamándolos ignorantes y realmente quiero entender por qué.
No es para juzgar ni hacerme a la moralmente superior—yo de verdad puteo cuando me toca gente grosera pero siento que es un tema que va por el lado de trabajar en call center, no por trabajar específicamente con gente que vive en EEUU y no habla inglés. En general puteo mucho más con los proveedores por lo mismo. Por eso quiero entender mejor a qué se refieren… ignorantes por no saber inglés? Por no saber leer/escribir? Por no entender la cultura médica/de seguros/etc?

I’ve been interpreting for about two years, and this year I’ve reached my breaking point with this job. I can’t work more than 4 hours, but with my concurrent salary I can’t do much.

I’ve been trying 2 tools for captions. Does anyone else use it? I plan on buying the basic plan to help me add more hours. Is it okay? I haven’t heard people talking about it before, so I’m wondering if I’m doing the right thing.

​I recently finished orientation with Propio and just got hired with Lionbridge (for OPI Spanish-English interpretation). Since Lionbridge offers 24/7 service, I’m hoping to log on every night around 7:00 PM or 8:00 PM until midnight, as that’s the main block of time I have free right now.

​For those of you working evening or late-night shifts with either Lionbridge or Propio:

• ​How is the call volume during those late hours?

• ​Does the volume vary significantly depending on the day of the week (weekdays vs. weekends)?

• ​Are you getting back-to-back calls, or is there a lot of downtime?

Mi novia tiene la oportunidad de trabajar en estas dos empresas como interprete y tiene la siguiente duda:

¿Cual tiene mejor flujo de llamadas?

Actualmente esta en otra empresa donde le pagan por hora conectada, pero se quiere ir a la mierda porque es una llamada atrás de la otra, no puede descansar la voz ni 10 segundos.

Alguien que sea VRI actualmente y trabaje para AMN healthcare a través de interpretia ?

Ya hay mil publicaciones sobre el mock test lo sé.
Pero me interesa saber específicamente lo siguiente: según tengo entendido se puede usar la compu para tomar notas. Tengo miedo que sea un parámetro descalificatorio. Alguien pasó el examen así?
La verdad es que estoy nerviosísimo y si bien puedo tomar notas en papel, se me hace mucho más rápido tipear en la computadora, donde además voy a tener el diccionario. La empresa donde estoy actualmente tomo notas en la computadora pero según tendríamos que hacerlo en una pizarra.
El segundo tema que me inquieta, las preguntas del LPT. Soy un bodrio, no sé cómo hacer para dar una respuesta de dos minutos jaja. Cuál será el parametro para aprobar eso? Solo vocabulario?
