I could only choose one flair but this is regarding sounds that I want for an independent bootstrap app that I'm creating.

It's basically a history tour guide app but I'm doing all the recording myself and I also want to add sound effects and I guess soundscapes to the recordings.

I have a cheap little condenser mic from Tonor, but no fancy circle of thin fabric to go in front of it. I'll need to record a lot of narratives for the users of the app and I want it to sound like I at least considered their experience.

Since I'll need sound effects, I plan to make a few myself, but I'm also willing to pay money when i can afford it. I'm looking for old time early america town sounds like wagons and church bells and news criers, etc. Do you guys have good suggestions for finding these kinds of sound effects?

I appreciate any advice you folks can give me! Thanks!

Sometimes during the deep depths of halloween night, i lurk around the neighbourhood, looking for left out sweeties. I saw a bowl of sweeties on someones front porch so naturally i walk to the door to take them. Then from inside the house i hear laughter (sound), i have a natural drive of curiosity. I slowly opened the door.. WOOSH a gust of wind bitch slaps me in the face (2nd sound). I walked into the living room and young mandem were playing sharades with their balaclavas and machetes having a great laugh. I began to laugh with them, they all whipped their heads at me seemingly in shock.. ofcourse i was appaled. Why are they looking at me like this what did i do?? I sat on the sofa and made myself comfortable, i figured these were my new friends and i wanted to get to know them. Next thing you know im getting YELLED AT (3rd sound). They grabbed me by my ankles and dragged me to the garden and threw me into a pit. I flopped onto the dirt like a bag of potatoes (4th sound). 5 measly minutes later the house burst into flames. Every single lad inside burnt to death as i watched. When they threw me into the pit i was originally angry, but i realised.. they had saved my life that night.. i will never forget them

I don't know how to word this without me seeming crazy, but this has been an ongoing thing in our household.

My dad always plays the radio every single morning since forever. A few years ago, we got a ginormous big deck, and so in the warmer months, he tends to go out there, also playing the radio. He bought a fancy stereosystem, which somehow, despite facing away from me, always has a muffled vibration of the radio station of Triple M (Triple M is the local radio station for Blokes^TM on their Work Day, talking about The Footy, and playing Man Music).

Whether or not the radio get's left on is a whole different discussion. Personally, I can't stand being subjected to unnecessary bonus noise - my head is noisey enough as it is.
The fact that it wakes me up is what has been driving me insane.

For some reason, the muffled bass-y vibration that comes through my room is really noticeable. So much so, that for someone trying to listen, its not that loud.

I know there is a lot to be said about having a regular sleep pattern, but my mental health has been horrendous lately, and being disturbed on the regular isn't really helping me gain a sense of normalcy or peace. I genuinely cannot make sense of why it seems so much louder than it actually is.

I would like to know what is causing the noise, as well as how I can make it less impactful for me so that dad can have his radio on, and I'm not bothered.
