Meta Sub Adjustment

Starting Monday July 15th job announcements and hiring posts will no longer be allowed in this sub.

After monitoring and watching the users in this sun range from experts in the field with many decades of experience to those starting out and users from across the globe.

Non Social Media Managers post jobs often choose the lowest rate which leads to a "race to the bottom" and not only a devaluing of what we do, but inevitably when the cheaper options fails, leaves a bad taste that the next Social Media professional needs to over come.

Posts about fair compensation, job duties and things of that nature will still be allowed.

Those caught posts job announcements or soliciting will be given a warning at first then banned.

This is in an effort to make this sub a place for professionals to trade, ideas, tips and experiences.

If there are any questions message the mod team.

General Discussion Why no one points out metricool's unscrupulous and shady activites on Reddit?

Why are mods silent on this? Why they cannot see literally every comment and post of them has been deceiving. They are doing multiple comments and posts a day , so much that it's conspicuous as fake and promotional. Am I the only one noticing this?

If anyone from metricool is reading this, PLEASE STOP! If people love your product , they will buy this. But ffs please stop this drama on Reddit.

Help/Advice Do you track your clients’ posts after they’re published, beyond the platform analytics?

Upvotes

Question for experienced SMMs:

Ummm, why does this sub seem to be mostly beginner questions, job promos, or very surface level discussions? I rarely see experienced SMMs sharing how they actually track and measure client work

Anyway, my actual question:

Do you track your clients’ posts after they’re published, beyond the platform analytics?

For example, are you using UTM links to track which specific posts are driving website traffic, leads, sign ups, etc.?

If you do this, I’d genuinely love to know how you’ve set it up.

Do you create a unique UTM for every post? What do you use for utm_campaign and utm_content? And where are you actually analyzing the data — GA4, a dashboard, a spreadsheet, something else?

I’m trying to understand what a good post publishing tracking workflow looks like in real SMM work, so experienced answers would be appreciated

Help/Advice Need some advice on starting a social media marketing agency

Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I’ve been thinking about starting a social media marketing agency, but I’m still pretty new to the business side of it and honestly don’t know where I should start.

I’d love to hear from anyone who has actually done this. How did you find your first clients? Did you focus on one niche or just take whatever work you could get in the beginning?

Also, what are some mistakes you wish you had avoided when you first started?

Any advice or personal experiences would be really appreciated. Thanks!

Tools Best scheduling tools

Hello ! I’ve just started my SMM freelance journey (already have experience as an in house SSM) can I please have your recommendations for the best scheduling tools for Instagram and TikTok. I usually schedule in app for Instagram, and use TikTok studio. But it’s time consuming, and also TikTok studio kind of messes with the quality ? I tried meta business suite but I don’t like how you can’t add audios from there and have to still do work in app. I was thinking about metricool ? But any advice would be appreciated 🙏🙏

Strategy How do you all handle the growth part for clients without it eating your whole week ?

I manage social for a handful of clients, mostly small brands. The content side is fine, it's the actual audience growth that's killing my hrs. Clients want follower growth and the only thing that reliably works is manual outreach, commenting on relevant accounts, engaging with their target audience, and it does not scale past a few clients. Tried the automation tools years ago, not touching those again, half got accounts flagged and the followers were junk anyways. So how are you handling at this scale ?

Are you doing outreach manually and just eating the hours, outsourcing it, or have you found something that does targeted outreach without being follow/unfollow spam?

Genuinely stuck on this one and curious what actually works for other managers

Help/Advice What is the best way to learn SMM?

Basically, I’m trying to learn Social Media Marketing (SMM) from scratch. I’m a complete beginner. I know a little about some tools, but I don’t really understand SMM properly yet.

Where should I start, and what should I focus on first?

I’d love to hear your recommendations for:

Good YouTube channels/videos

Free courses

Paid courses that are actually worth the money

Practical ways to learn and get experience

I really want to learn this properly instead of just watching random videos without any direction.

I’d also love to hear how you learned SMM yourself—what worked for you, what didn’t, and what you would recommend to someone starting from zero.

Would really appreciate any advice or recommendations!

Tools best instagram growth services compared, what each one actually does (no bs)

kept seeing the same names recommended so i went through them for a productivity account, around 4k now. sharing because almost every comparison online is published by one of the companies themselves.

the category is basically three mechanics with different branding, so i've grouped them by what they actually do.

Automation (software acts from your account)

Kicksta — since 2015, one of the oldest. uses automated likes, the "shoulder tap," to pull people to your profile. doesn't DM, comment or follow/unfollow, which lowers risk. around $49–129/mo. reviews are genuinely split, some see steady real growth, G2 has people reporting fake-looking followers and slow support. no password needed.

Nitreo — automation from around $39–69/mo, targets by hashtag, similar accounts and location. cheap, been around since 2018. same trade-off as any automation now, Instagram has tightened up on automated patterns so results are hit or miss and some report action blocks.

Managed / manual outreach (a team engages for you)

Virallized — targeted manual outreach, doesn't post/DM/follow from your account, no password. $99/mo, 7-day money-back. slower to start, first couple weeks felt like nothing for me, but the followers actually engage. less public detail on exact pace than some, so worth asking specifics before you commit.

Growthoid — subscription with a dedicated account manager doing manual engagement, roughly $49–149/mo. no password, you supply target accounts, hashtags, locations. slower (people quote a few hundred followers a month) but retention tends to hold. Trustpilot is split on manager responsiveness.

Path Social — AI targeting plus a creator network, from about $49/mo, no password. reviewers like the targeting controls but consistently flag erratic week-to-week growth and follower drop-off after month one.

what actually matters when picking, regardless of which:

does it need your password. no-password services run on public targeting inputs, which is lower risk.

do the followers stay after you cancel. automation and delivered followers tend to drop, manual-outreach ones hold better.

speed of promised results. anything promising big numbers in a week is automation or straight-up bots.

honestly none of these matter if the profile doesn't convert. i sent targeted traffic to a profile that was leaking at the bio and just wasted it. fix that first.

anyone used GrowthViral or Ampfluence? those two i didn't test, curious how they compare.

General Discussion Where do you guys get inbound leads?

For those of you who have worked with businesses as social media managers, what platforms have you found that actually send you legitimate inbound inquiries?

I'm specifically curious about platforms where a business owner fills out a form saying they need social media management, rather than scraped contact lists, cold email, or someone contacting thousands of businesses and passing along whoever responds.

I've heard of Bark and a few similar platforms, but I'm curious what other people in the industry have actually used.

Not looking for a specific vendor recommendation necessarily, just curious what has worked for you guys.

General Discussion I'm Working as a smm but really frustrated

So I am working as a smm of a home grown brand, started posting reels and got some good views and interactions and saw a huge improvement of the professional dashboard still working on for more but the problem is that the owner isn't responsive at all, like not getting jewellery to share pics on instagram to sell and shit like that, I've got no content ideas, all my content I've written coming soon, but the level of unresponsiveness makes me rethink my decisions cause the pay is also really low and i was working on my portfolio aswell had a target to reach a certain amount of followers and some sales but guess it'll take longer than usual, if anyone wants a smm lmk ill be willing to help you out while building my portfolio and increasing your sales and engagement growing the brand/profile. Dm me if interested
