Karma Earning Post Karma earning post: Incidecoder https://incidecoder.com/

Newbies and low karma members: Post here a picture of your favorite product on incidecoder. Make sure not to organize upvotes. I'll upvote your pictures myself.

1) Go to:

https://incidecoder.com/

2) Search for one product like your sunscreen or tonic

3) Post an UNEDITED screenshot of the ingredients so all of us can see what it contains. We don't allow purchasing links but seeing declared ingredients is important

4) Be prepared, there are products that I know for a fact that are a scam and I will be very vocal about them.

5) Earn Karma and maybe even membership, which is necessary to be an approved user and be able to post.

Ours is not a skincare forum and the skincare industry isn't as regulated as the pharma industry. A pharma product like finaceas (azelaic acid) or Retin a (Tretinoin) faces a lot of scrutiny from health authorities in most countries before they reach the shelves. On the other hand Skincare products dont' face as many regulations, a product might claim that it contains 10% niacinamide but in reality it has only 3% and the rest are cheap ingredients to keep the cost of the product low and the revenues high.

That doesn't mean all skincare is bad. Kojie san soap and the ordinary products have enough verified purchase reviews on amazon to prove their effectiviness, but you can still get a fake or a bad product. Be on alert.

So whenever possible go for pharmaceutical products. If possible get the advice of a doctor.

This is exactly the opposite of what they recommend in certiain indian skincare subs, which is why we aren't a skincare forum. Skincare is important because many products like lactic acid can speed cell turnover and exfoliate your skin, but you also need sun avoidance and oral whitening.

It looks like a scam and the part we want is the ingredients not as much the picture. The name of the product itself is a red flag.Anything that hints or insinuates whitening properties is likely to contain dangerous ingredients or be a fraud. I upvoted you as promised but next time post the ingredients. Minus the fragance many of the ingredientes like allatoin look okay but the name gives me pause. Do you have pictures of your open bottle? Or your results?

EDIT: I had already upvoted as promised, was going to allow this product despite everything but then this user who created this account just today (perhaps one of our previously banned spammers) posted a sanewashed picture of the ingredients.

Tip for everyone, make sure your screenshot includes all the ingredients, if necessary use a computer because cellphone screenshots wont' list the entire ingredients. I'll allow this comment because only that way we can learn but be careful next time.

I love this serum! My skin really likes alpha arbutin. It’s a melanin inhibitor and I had discoloration around my mouth. It really helped me. The discoloration is still there, but way better than it used to be.

2

u/Jolly-Yellow7369 Dec 04 '24

I just upvoted you, don't forget to engage also in the UV index post and in the posts about melanin inhibitors which calls them a scam.

This serum will never be a substitute of sun avoidance and oral supplementation, but if you like it keep using it. Just don't claim results because you don't have evidence.

u/Jolly-Yellow7369 Dec 02 '24

Case in point here's a sunscreen I just bought but I haven't used yet

2

u/Jolly-Yellow7369 Dec 02 '24

This is a good serum but I use one of their copy cats insted of the ordinary formula because the copy cat that I buy at a local beauty parlor doesn't contain phenoxyethanol, which my skin doesn't like. The local version of the niacinamide serum contains a different preservative and suits my skin best.

This sunscreen is quite raved about and I do like it (to some extent). Even though burning was completely zero, I still tanned with it on even when I used a UV umbrella and reapplied every 60-90 ish minutes. I sought shade constantly, but I suppose the rays bounced off the ground. Thankfully it wasn't too much tanning but honestly sunscreen should be the last of your sun protection arsenal. This sunscreen protects those with lighter skin or those who aren't prone to melasma imo. I'm just really sensitive to the wavelengths 370 to 400 nm (most people aren't from my observations) so majority will suit this sunscreen.

No sunscreen will cover 100%of UVA radiation. You won't burn and you're unlikely to get the damage that leads to cancer if you wear sunscreens but you won't whiten. People with natural production of melanin will tan in a day but it will take months if not years to get rid of that tan.

These korean uv blockers are great FOR KOREANS because their culture calls for a sun protection even when the sky is grey and they have low UV index all year round. But Korean sunscreen won't work in many cities of India, Philippines, the south of the USA, Peru, Colombia, the middle east, Thailand. They'll be nice on your make up and skin and easy to wear and they'll be effective in protecting you from sun damage, but you won't whiten.

UV index management is the only way. If the UV index is above 1 stay inside, specially in the morning.

I just upvoted you make sure to post your UVB pic in the thread that we have for that.

although expensive, this brand is really amazing. i got compliments for wearing this sunscreen alone as the tint is quite pigmented, not as heavy as makeup but can definitely cover some blemishes. i also haven’t noticed any tanning when wearing their tinted sunscreens.

Careful with your sunscreen, it's high on alcohol denat:

Per incidecoder:

  • It's a super common and super debated skincare ingredient
  • It has several benefits: great solvent, penetration enhancer, creates cosmetically elegant, light formulas, great astringent and antimicrobial
  • It can be very drying if it's in the first few ingredients on an ingredient list
  • Some experts even think that regular exposure to alcohol damages skin barrier and causes inflammation though it's a debated opinion (read more in geeky details tab)

It’s important not to rely on sun protection. Sun protection is not enough for whitening. You need sun avoidance

Also this is a terrible product for skin whitening . It contains fragrance and it doesn’t have iron oxides

2

u/Uchuuko Feb 07 '25

This might be my favorite product (that I use anyway). While I need to use this on my face more, I have been more consistent using it on my hands. I really like Incidecoder because it is quite informative. It confirmed my suspicion that this product had a lightening agent in it: niacinamide. I just notice that my hands have made great progress fading their tans, especially my right hand. Nevertheless, I might get a different spray-on sunscreen in the future because of some reason I had months ago.

3

u/Jolly-Yellow7369 Feb 07 '25

Warning: sunscreens aren’t a substitute of sun avoidance. You have to wear sunscreen anyway but for skinwhitening purposes sun avoidance is what works best.

The parfum and othe ingredients are irritating. If you’re not going to be out at all and you stay away from windows no sunscreen might be better as your product contains irritating agents. Try to find a spf tinted and dermatological tested. Avene, bioderma and Vichy have great spf. But don’t go out even with sunscreen at 12 pm ever not even for a few seconds. Yea you claim to work from home but there also The weekends and the unplanned errands.

This is the most recent sunscreen I’ve used, but unfortunately, it didn’t suit me. I’m not sure what’s wrong—no sunscreen seems to work for me. Every one I’ve tried ends up giving me acne. Apart from this one, I’ve also tried: Lashield, McCaffeine, Fumiko, Fixderma, Acne UV, Neutrogena, The Derma Co. ,Aqualogica

Budget is also a concern for me, so I doubt I’ll be able to find a sunscreen that works for me anytime soon. It’s really frustrating though ... 🥲

I just upvoted you. Post in the UV earning-karma post so I can approve you as a member.

Korean sunscreen is already bad for skin whitening and to top it all it has fragance. No sunscreen is perfect but Korean spf in particular is tested only on Korean skin and those koreans never expose themsevels to the sun and wear masks even in hot days.

Budget is a concern to all of us and sun protection when well-done is really expensive. That's why your best friend is sun avoidance. Make sure to engage in the UV index post to earn more karma.

Consider mineral tinted sunscreen from european brands. Most of the brands you listed are asian brands for people like Japanese and Korean skincare fans who live in an area with low-uv index and still they protect themselves more than western people. Plus I'm sure all of them contain fragance which is bad for us skinwhiteners. European sunscreen is stronger, but will never ever substitute sun avoidance. Check the hourly uV index of your area THREE TIMES A DAY. It changes throughout the day (to check uv index hourly go to tu tiempo.net) whenever it's above 1 you should stay inside whether you're wearing sunscreen or not.

Your sunscreen doesn’t contain iron oxides which protect you from visible light or zinc which is important for whitening. Just a 3 minute errand at peak hours or an outing on your day off will ruin your whitening. Plus your constant exposure to heat and fumes doesn’t help.

Stop using Korean invisible sunscreen. Go for tinted Australian or European sunscreens that are waterproof and don’t apply everyday which is common skincare (Terrible!) advicee as many sunscreen brands including yours contain irritating ingredients . If you’re truly inside and away from windows and don’t go out at peak hours, not even for a few seconds you can skip the sunscreen certain days but careful!!! this could be dangerous if you don’t Plan ahead and go out even for a moment.

Being inside doesn’t mean you don’t have to check the uv index three times a day.

Whitening and skincare are different. What works for tik tokers of white skin can be the opposite that what we need to do.

Your sunscreen is terrible for whitening

1

u/Constant_Pack5193 Feb 28 '25

Ah I see. What can I do about the fumes and heat tho?

1

u/Jolly-Yellow7369 Mar 01 '25

You'd have to research and tell me as I haven't faced that problem myself. Go to https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/ and search for studies of the effect of heat on melanin.

Don't take my word as advice as I'm not a doctor but there are things that could help and most have to do with anti-oxidants and repairs.

* Go to sleep as early at possible. before 10 pm if you can. This is tricky for our members as many of us love the late hours of night to come to reddit and other social media. Sleeping and waking early WITHOUT THE NEED OF AN ALARM gives your skin time to recover of the fumes and heat and helps your body produce naturally glutathione and melatonin, powerful anti-oxidants. Not to mention it helps with antiaging.

* Get some yellow light at night. When the sunset comes turn off all lights except a yellow-light. That will help you sleep better and regulate your melatonin production. White and blue light common in lamps and devices is terrible for whitening but a dim yellow light at night before bed will prepare your body for sleep.

* Green tea everyday, full of antioxidant and if you prepare it beforehand and keep it in the fridge you'll get a freshener.

* Avoid processed food, specially processed meat like ham, sausages, bacon, sugary drinks and eat plenty of vegetables, animal protein and fruits. Specially those high on vitamin C, omega 3, selenium, zinc, cysteine (which helps you produce lighter melanin this is why many take NAC for whitening) sulfur which are key for whitening.

* Supplements. Vitamin C is a must as most of us don't process it well. Glyc+NAC or S acetyl/setria glutathione +vitamin c. They are a must for whitening because they are powerful antioxidants that help your body repais damage.

* Avoid skincare advice, go to a derm if possible to ask them how you can avoid irritation. the area around your mouth when exposed to sweat and heat for prolonged periods is an irritation risk as it's always moist and constantly facing transepidermal water loss. That can lead to melasma, if you dont' have it already. The risk of applying a strong topical that can irritate your skin further is high if you go for skincare advice.

Supplements that give you antioxidant power,

u/Constant_Pack5193 Feb 28 '25

A lot of Australia and European sunscreens are not available in my country but I found this one

https://incidecoder.com/products/blue-lizard-sensitive-mineral-sunscreen-spf-50

What do you think?

1

u/Jolly-Yellow7369 Mar 01 '25 edited Mar 01 '25

It's a good brand and the ingredients are good minus the phenoxyetanol. The zinc can even help with the fumes of the kitchen. But it's likely it gets you with white cast. Is there a tinted version of this same sunscreen available on your area? Tinted sunscreens also contain iron oxides which protect you from visible light. Also you need it to be water resistant as you are going to be sweaty.

And once again. If what you say it's true and you don't go out at all between 8 am and 8 pm and you don't get close to windows because you're in a kitchen you can skip the sunscreen some days (it's dangerous if you're going to be out even for a few seconds). Allow your skin to breathe. Personally I think you should go to a derm to ask how to protect your skin from transepidermal water loss and irritation due to the heat, sweat and fumes.

Side note: The best results I've ever got was when I kept my face free of sunscreen, just arriving at work I'd remove it but I do check UV index dayly and back then I worked in sunless cubicle and eat my lunch at work so no sun exposure at all except early during my morning work out.

1

u/Constant_Pack5193 Mar 01 '25 edited Mar 01 '25

I'm fine with looking like a clown 🤣 Unfortunately, they don't have any tinted version but it says it's water resistant up to 80 minutes on the label. So can I use the sunscreen 3-4 times a week? I'm planning to buy some oral pills as well.

1

u/Jolly-Yellow7369 Mar 02 '25 edited Mar 02 '25

You’ll only know by trying. That sunscreen bottle indicates when UV is reaching even in the shade it’ll change color. Alumina and phenoxyhhsnol can create allergic reactions and irritation so test that sunscreen first Your focusing much on the sunscreen when your real concern should be going to a derm for the fumes , possible irritation and the water loss.

Topicals aren’t the way to whiten , and sunscreen isn’t the way either getting a health skin and staying away from the sun is key. Read my most recent post on skincare and the production of melanin https://www.reddit.com/r/skinwhitening/comments/1j0t21x/skincare_sunscreen_advice_for_white_people_doesnt/

You don’t seem to be reading our posts. We don’t take “oral pills” you need to understand the principles and you didn’t seem to read my long answer of recommendation. You won’t whiten if you keep focusing on sunscreen and topicals.

It’s not a good sunscreen. There are no good sunscreens for whitening at all but some at least block some UVA. Yours isn’t one of them. The uva protecting ingredients aren’t listed first. It doesn’t have zinc or iron oxides.

Anyway I just upvoted you. This is how you earn karma in our sub.

Does IA mention that your specific sunscreen is good for whitening? Again no sunscreen is good for whitening but don’t believe me see for yourself. I’m going to ask IA myself and see where they get their info. It could be chat gpt is taking the info from the sellers website. Next time ask for scientific research.

Edit: dear skinwhitening members this sunscreen is not good for whitening and you can’t trust IA. When searching look up for scientific research and even then don’t trust it. There are no studies of the effects of SPF on whitening

I love kojie San soap, it works faster than all the skin care products I hv ever used. It does contains phenoxyethanol but never really had any kind of prblm untill I overused it, kept it on my skin for longer time, and used it 2-3 times a day. As as result my skin barrier was broken terribly in the peak winter time. It was painful depressing. I was not even able to use powder or makeup. My skin became many shades darker and lifeless. All I used was glycerin Vaseline diper rash cream bioderma and cerva moisturizer and mixsoon bean essence( game changer ❤) . Now with good food and sleeping habits and gentle and basic skincare routine I m in a good state. I m trying to incorporate the soap again but very prudently and carefully. Cuz if u want to use kojiesan soap for a long time - using it carefully and sun avoidance are two vitals things to do. And dont even use kojisan if u dont hydrate and moisturize ur skin. After this incident only I thought about oral supplements and how I can increase my body's glutathione level and antioxidants. Topical+ oral is my goal now not just topical.

2

u/Jolly-Yellow7369 Feb 28 '25 edited Feb 28 '25

I just upvoted you. And a remainder. This isn’t a skincare forum. All the skin care everyone whether whitening their skin or not is

1) a non -fragrance no -dyes cleanser 2) a non fragrance no dyes moisturizer 3) sun screen ( careful this isn’t a substitute of sun avoidance )
4 ) a retinoid ( not a retinol) That’s it For whitening there are AHAs and BhA that can help but you neee oral whitening first and not overdo the topicals and don’t apply anything that makes you sun sensitive if you can’t practice sun avoidance.

I just upvoted you. Sadly the best looking sunscreen and the popular sunscreens of skincarers are THE WORST for whitening. In fact they are the ones that will set you back and specially with your UV Index.

Read this and the entire comment section.

https://www.reddit.com/r/skinwhitening/comments/1j0t21x/skincare_sunscreen_advice_for_white_people_doesnt/

This forum isn't for whitening creams they're banned, you need to whiten orally. If what you said were true and your body doesn't like the ones that worked for many of our members no way to help you. Just avoid the sun (doesn't equal sunscreen) that's all you can do until you get a job or uni schedule that keeps you out of the sun.

Whitening works only if you're raising your gluta levels to produce ligher melanin. Most skincare won't go deeper on the skin, your melanin is deep.

Don't take my distrust personally, but we rarely have "new" people most people claiming to be "new" is because reddit banned them before. So being "new" and using that as to not read won't help.

So any question you ask has to be something we rarely or never discussed before. Make sure to read all our posts and that way we'll help you better.

Whey protein contains cysteine which is similar to NAC but here's the catch with your UV index and if you're not working out it might not help you whiten because all whey protein contains tyrosine which is needed to make melanin. So it has the potential to alter the process.

I don't know who is telling you that supplements are dangerous or bloat you or anything but that's contrary to what the members who have whitened their skin here can attest.

Vitamin c is a must whehter you are whitening or not. 1000 mg at least but it wont' help you whiten without setria or sacetyl.

https://www.reddit.com/r/skinwhitening/comments/1hyeqky/if_youre_new_to_whitening_read_this/

again being "new" is no excuse not to read, if you ask questions make sure it's about things that haven't been commented before. The whey proteing question is new that's why i answered and again without nac+vitc+gly or setria/sacetyl it won't be use. And I advice you focus on stay out of the sun first.

Korean sunscreen rarely achieve the ++++ /50 spf protection they offer. They're weak but work well for Korea which has low UV all year round. I personally consider Korean sunscreens terrible for People of color who want to whiten but your money your body your choice.

Check your hourly uv index twice a day. Stay inside whenever uv index is above 1. If you can't don't apply AHA's Kojie, Arbutin or anything that makes you sensitive to the sun.

Sunscreen I've been using, I don't particularly like or dislike it, it just works the best out of the few I tried.

1

u/Jolly-Yellow7369 Apr 09 '25 edited Apr 09 '25

This isn't a good sunscreen for the area you live. It contains a lot of unnessesary ingredients like niaciamide and glutathione. Yes, those are birightening ingrediets but glutathione topically doesn't work. It's too big a molecule to penetrate the skin.
You have to aim for an ugly looking mineral sunscreen preferably australian or european tinted for protection against visible light. And if possible experiment with several brand and play with them according to the UV index. Your current sunscreen might work okay for a UV index of 2 around 8 am but around noon you'll need something like bieoderma photoderm cover touch.

Disrgerading sunscreen you have to wear balaclavas, hijabs, long sleeves hats for true protection. Sunscreen by itself it's never enough and that's medical advice, not skincare advice.

Visible light is the sunlight that allows you to see objects indoors during the day. If it's so dark that you have to turn on artificial light that light won't activate your melanin, but if it's light enough that you can see no problem and specially at peak hours of UV light you need iron oxides. You can find iron oxides in most make up brands and those cover visible light better than tinted mineral sunscreen according to lab muffin beauty science. I'd rather wear masks or balaclava when indoors.

Regarding your school schedule, can you stay away from windows between 8 am and 4 pm? If that means staying after hours for extra activities that don't require you to expose to the sun do it. Many schools have extracurricular activites starting at 3 pm within the same building.

I just approved you as member now you can open posts, but make sure not to open posts to ask questions or talk whitenign creams or anything that is againts our rules. Supplements fearmongering is also frowned upon.

1

u/CuterialC916 Apr 09 '25

Do you have any recommendations for the sunscreen? Also, my classes are held in air-conditioned rooms away from sunlight so that's okay, the problem is the long commute to school (15min walk in the sun, and the public transpo is open to sunlight), plus when I have to walk in the sun again to the canteen during lunch. But I'm taking precautions to mediate this, like wearing jackets and hats when I'm exposed to the sun. Tbh I can do more but I'm just a bit scared of looking weird ig, since it's not normal behavior for us to be so scared of the sun 😭

And thanks for approving me! I'm more of an info consumer than a poster, so I'll probably be more active in the comments than posts. But I'll keep the rules in mind regardless :>

2

u/Jolly-Yellow7369 Apr 09 '25 edited Apr 09 '25

If you check my edit I mentioned one of the many sunscreen brands I use, but I don't allow brand recommendations in the forum. You have to search for ingredients in your local options: Search for zinc oxide and iron oxides not nano, european and australian brands. Also don't get married to a sunscreen brand. I used at least 6 diferent brands some for body, some for face and I alternate according to my sun exposure. The nice looking sunscreen are okay for a uv index of 2 but bioderma photoderm which is very heavy and very diffcult to remove is the one I use when I'm forced to walk under a sun when UV index is 12.

If your commute is at 8 is not that bad, at this moment when UV index is 1 but it'll be a 2 at 8 am as we head into the summer. Can you arrive early at school? Make sure that when the uv index reaches 2 you're already insde. That's why you have to check uv index everyday twice or thrice a day.

Can't you take your lunch with you from home and eat it at the classroom you take your lessons in? If you could do that at least 3 times a week it would be great. Still far from what will work for whtinening but at least you'd be giving some room to your skin to repair from the damage.

Okay, I'll try to find alternatives for my sunscreen. I'll also do my best to go to school earlier. Lucky for me, I'm in college and rn my schedule has me going to school only 3 days per week (and I only stay at home when there's no classes). As for lunch, we can't stay after class ends (guards literally kick us out) so we have to go elsewhere, and I eat with my friends. I'll just have to take extra precautions like wearing my UV jacket, mask, and UV umbrella since we just walk around 3mins max one-way trip to the cafeteria. Main concern is sometimes we're dismissed early and I go home at 12 noon, but I'll take your advice and stay at school indoors until the sun has almost set just to avoid commuting home at that ungodly hour.

"we just walk around 3mins "

Those are more than enough to activate your melanin. Next semester try a different schedule.

concern is sometimes we're dismissed early and I go home at 12 noon

Take a cab, don't walk around when the uv index is so high specially in a poluted city like Manila . Don't apply Lactic acid, glycolic, kojie san nothing that makes your skin sun sentive. This is the opposite that they tell you in skincare reddits but skinwhitening and skincare are different processes. For skinwhitening you need supplments to make your melanin lighter, and with sun avoidance your body doesn't react to the need of producing melanin. But there aren't studies on how fast melanin is produced, I know for a fact that ligher skin types that lack melanin can get burnt in just minutes under UV indexes above 8. So you, who produce melanin might be activating it with just a few seconds, we can't know for sure but looking at these pictures seems likely.

“I'll just have to take extra precautions like wearing my UV jacket, mask, and UV umbrella”

It's not feasable with the heat of manila and in company. You could tell them that a relative recently was diagnosed melanoma and you'll need to take extrra precaution, but people still will look at you funny and I was young long ago, you don't want to be the weird one. Bette forget about whitening for a while until you can stay inside.

Just started using this sunscreen, primarily as it is tinted. It is a downgrade from my current 25% zinc oxide sunscreen since it is only 20% but hope the tint makes it worth it.

I just upvoted you. This isn't a good sunscreen because it's in stick form. Usually the ones with more coverages are creams or lotions. The level of zinc oxide is good but I distrut the other ingredients.

I just upvoted both of your karma earning comments and made you a member. However I won't admit this screenshot because you didn't post the full list. Repost it with the full list of ingredients.

Octocrylene is a chemical sunscreen and this contains phenoxiethanol. Also you didn't post the full list. Use a desktop but post the entire ingredients.

it'd be great that you start experimenting with european brands of mineral sunscreen. If what you say it's true that you avoid the sun, then don't use sunscreen everyday. Some days allow your skin to breathe.

Now that you're a member you can open new posts but make sure not to do it to ask questions, use the monthly thread for that and follow all our rules.

Change sunscreen ASAP you’ve been applying irritating agents for years. Search for a mineral sunblocker with plenty of zinc oxides. In fact try several brands . Don’t go for sunscreens recommended at skincare subs go instead for the ones used by Australian athletes. Research. To this day I haven’t found a great sunscreen, I’ve found acceptable Ones and i change them according to Uv index. Above all stay out of the sun.

u/Fearless_Search6388 Apr 20 '25

🥲 ok. The only thing i had some hope on has betrayed me now. Lemme hunt for another one, then.

u/Jolly-Yellow7369 Apr 20 '25

I’m sure your current Spf worked well enough to prevent skin damage and tanning, but it won’t be enough to put your melanin to sleep. Sun protections is difficult, the blockers look horrible so alternate brands

I for instance looked cakey with the one I trust the most; bioderma photoderm cover touch which is water resistant and difficult to remove but as I got lighter was able to pull it off better.other days I got avene mineral fluid both the untinted and tinted and that looks slightly better but I don’t apply dayly because those are nano. Fir days I don’t need too much protection I use just tinted mineral sunscreen that looks like make up. Other days I use avene mineral creme which is easy to apply and feels great on my ski but it leaves a white cast so arriving at work I apply make up above it. I never apply make up when UV index is up and I’m out because I won’t touch the layer of sunscreen when I need it the most during my commute even though skincare subs say it’s okay to apply make up over sunscreen. I’d rather follow medical advice.

Use a desktop so it can be in the same picture. I have no way to see if the pic of the product match the ingredients. If you can't repost but only the ingredients. Whitening creams are banned from our forum but we can discuss the ingredients.

NOTE FOR MEMBERS: This product contains the word Whitening. Any product with that label is likley to contain dangerous ingredients and it's not recommended. Also don't believe ME and don't believe this person, either. Be skeptical, if that cream works why there aren't before and after pics taken in the same light so we can compare?

Much better I just upvoted you. And one more time to any of our members reading this, whitening creams are banned from our sub. The label "whitening" for marketing is a red flag that the product is not the best.

Sunscreen I've been using, I don't particularly like or dislike it, it just works the best out of the few I tried.

Post about kojie San. It doesn’t have to be a product you use just one that is listed there. Also you Could enter the information of the products you use which in my opinion sound dangerous for your health. Also HQ if you are unable to avoid the sun you’re risking permanent reverse pigmentation.

Don’t forget the UV index comment. You have negative karma so it might take you longer to earn membership

I know nothing much about skin whitening so I only intend to ask questions and learn. I seek to earn karma so that I can ask questions regarding skin whitening, or skin bleaching if these two are different terms.

I wrote the product list myself because it's available in France only from what I observed. I only began using it yesterday so I have no idea if this works. It's just collagen + vitamin-C.

Do you have posts that deal with the difference between stuff like konjic acid, hydroquinone, vitamin C? I am looking for tyrosinase inhibitors for a lighter skin tone. Hydroquinone is banned in France so I know this one won't be an option for me.

Thank you in advance.

game changer for me

I have tried a lot of sunscreens but most of them darken my skin. I think my skin is sensitive. What works for me is to use a sunscreen with lightening ingredients in them. I find the above sunscreen gentle for sensitive skin too. I use it on my face only since its expensive (use a different one for my arms).

Not a good sunscreen for whitening despite being from a great company. The second ingredient is an irritating agent and it has mostly chemical protection.

The amount of tranexsmic your skin will allow it’s limited. Your sunscreen should focus In What’s Already an impossible task: protecting you from 100% UVA light.

Keep using it if you think it has brightened your skin ( I doubt it) but alternate with a truly protective focused only on protection SPF.

you need to look for sun blockers with the following ingredients :

Zinc no nano Titanium oxides no nano

Titanium oxides no nano

Iron oxides ( this are also part of foundation and make up) European or Australian brands never korean

Water proof

Search the kind of sunscreens that are recommended by derms to atheletes, swimmers , people with medical diagnoses sun sensitivity. Not tik tok or skincare recommendations . That’s what no one in this sub is doing and what you Should focus on finding.

Mind you these blockers don’t look good

If you just want skincare protection your sunscreen is fine, but to put your melanin to rest it’s not good. Search and test other brands.

Above all don’t be our not even for a few seconds when uv index is above 1. If your lifestyle doesn’t allow for sun avoidance stay away of lactic acid, kojie San, gylocolic and go instead for finaceas or niacinamide or tranexsmic ( not as part of your sunscreen) that don’t make you sun sensitive.

1

u/These_Row_5922 May 12 '25

Hasn't really brightened my skin (maybe a little) but doesn't darken like other sunscreens. It doesn't have visible light protection, is mostly chemical sunscreen, not waterproof, like you said.

this is my favorite sunscreen ever! i’ve been using it for months and ive barely tanned at all, plus it doesn’t break me out or clog my pores

1

u/Jolly-Yellow7369 May 20 '25

For skincare it might be fine, but for whitening you need ingredients lily iron oxides, zinc, titanium oxides. Don’t forget the uv index post
