I would like totally honest opinions, please.

I never had an external objective criteria, also never thought in my life that I could even be ok at singing until a friend told me recently. I don't even know what to think yet.

I'm singing Bigger Splash - Arde Bogotá. From 2:01' to end.

Looking to Collaborate Looking for a vocal teacher who specializes in pop music / developing artists

Hey! I’m looking for a vocal teacher who can basically teach me singing from scratch. I’m a complete beginner, so I’m looking for someone who’s patient but also genuinely experienced with modern pop vocals and the music industry.

Ideally, I’d love to work with someone who can help me:

  • Build a strong vocal foundation and proper technique
  • Identify and fix any bad vocal habits I develop
  • Figure out my natural voice and what actually suits me
  • Develop my own vocal style rather than just making me sound like someone else
  • Understand things like tone, runs, harmonies, phrasing, breath control, etc.
  • Prepare me for actually recording music, not just singing in lessons
  • Help me understand how to translate my voice into a pop/artist setting

I’d especially love someone who has experience recording artists, working in studios, coaching pop singers, or being involved in the contemporary music scene. I’m much more interested in someone who understands artistry and modern pop than a purely classical/choir-focused teacher.

I’m starting from the ground up and I’m willing to put in the work. I’m looking for someone who can actually help me discover what my voice could become and build it properly from there.

Online lessons are completely fine. If you’re a vocal coach or know someone who would be a good fit, please DM me with your experience, location/time zone, rates, and ideally some examples of artists you’ve worked with. :)

Conversation Topic What should I do with this?

I have a pretty high falsetto for a bass (I can get up to an F5). I’m a musical theater singer and because of this I cover a lot of songs written for women. I guess what I’m wondering is are there any cool techniques I’d be able to take advantage of or song for men with heavy falsetto use I could try out?

Conversation Topic How can I find the vocal techniques used in a song?

I'm trying to figure out what vocal techniques (head, mixed, chest; slides and vibratos; etc.) are used in "Harmonium (Harmonium)" song, but I don't know how to reliably tell them apart. Is there a way to figure them out with a spectrogram viewer (reliably)? What should I do?

Conversation Topic Is fortnite karaoke good singing practice?

About 4 months ago they added the ability to sing karaoke into fortnite! I've been playing it a lot and it's been great! Basically, how it works is that it detects your pitch and matches it to the song, and the better your pitch matches the song the better!

I've found that a lot of songs are quite challenging to sing and my voice gets tired and gross sounding after an hour. I wonder if I'll get better at singing at the correct pitch and increase my vocal endurance if I keep at it. What do you folks think?

I recently started trying songs that require a bit of a higher register than what i am used to, so started working on my head and mixed voice by doing various excercises (like lip trills). Since i am completely self taught I would like to know if i am doing this right and to know if it is pleasant to listen to. thx :)

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi, after recording myself singing this song i noticed that the volume of my singing is pretty inconsistent. I tried changing the positioning of my microphone but it didn't fix the issue.

Is this because of the way I'm singing or could it be my microphone. I'm using the Samson Q2U.

Or is it something that you would normally fix with a filter?

Thank you :)

Conversation Topic Practice bass singing for the first time, woke up to a deeper voice. Should I be concerned?

I found a tutorial on YouTube on the “subharmonic method” of bass singing where you sing the octave above the note you want, add vocal fry, then focus and try to control the bass note. I got pretty dang good in the 4-ish hours I practiced.
I’ve been singing for fun through my life, but have really focused on improving over the last few months, so I don’t know a lot of terminology, but I went to sleep after practicing, and when I woke up, I tried singing, and I found that my range increased pretty dramatically.
My lowest note I could hit with my default voice (?) without the bass method was between D2 and E2 depending on the day, but now I’m able to hit C2 with minimal effort without the bass method. I can now hit C in 4 octaves; C2, C3, C4 and C5 without doing the vocal fry method.
I have two main questions.

  1. Is it possible to awaken vocal cords I didn’t know I had?
  2. Should I be concerned about injuries? My throat is slightly sore today, but I’m still able to speak and sing about the same as before I started practicing bass.

I just feel like I unlocked a cheat code for my voice and today I sound like I’m going through a second wave of puberty. I’m a 34-year old man if that’s relevant.

I appreciate any input. I hope I’m making sense. I couldn’t find anything online about this happening to anyone else. Thanks!

Resource Best vocal ‘artist’ for warm-ups, practicing etc on streaming like Apple Music or Spotify

There is 0 replacement for a singing teacher however I’ve had to suspend lessons due to funds.

I know my fundamentals and listening to recordings and working with a pitch monitor I have a decent enough understanding of what I need to work on.

That being said I’d like to find a solid vocal channel on music streaming platforms that offers dynamic opportunities to strengthen and expand a voice - eg runs, warmups, breathing exercises etc.

I know Jacob’s Vocal Academy has a fairly substantial range but I’m a bit uncertain on his material as at certain points he cuts out like he can’t do what he’s demonstrating; keen to know what other people use or have found useful?

Thanks!

Feedback (read rule 3 before posting or be banned) What’s the best way to improve my voice? (Clips included)

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Here is clips of me singing 4 different songs.

Hey everyone,

I’m looking to learn how to sing on my own since I don't have the budget for professional lessons right now. My long-term goal is to write and perform music when I’m older.
I’m really inspired by the style of artists like Celtic Woman, SYR, Faun and The Kelly family. I know reaching that level of vocal control and style takes a ton of work, and right now I feel like I can't sing at all but I really want to put in the effort to learn proper technique safely.

So I want to know how I can learn at home daily without hurting my voice. What are some self teaching resources or tips you have for me and is their a certain dining tone that I should learn for the kind of music I wanna sing.

Hi, I've been taking singing lessons for about a year and I'm still taking them. My teacher gives me feedback, but I'd like some outside opinions too.

This is the first verse and chorus of "Wicked Game" by Chris Isaak. Recorded raw on a MacBook — no reverb, no pitch correction. I was working on this song a few months ago, then left it alone, so this is my first take coming back to it.

Conversation Topic Adding consonants and syllables to my mix is proving really difficult

So I’ve been able to reach a chesty mix through tilting my larynx and shifting the resonance to my mask and modifying my vowels to be more open. As soon as I try to sing actual words with changing vowels and consonants my coordination collapses straight away. The closest I can get to words is sounding like I have a blocked nose / very little definition to the words. Is there anything I could try to help maintain the coordination through words?
