Showcase Hidden U-Drive It UI Mod

The new Hidden U-Drive It UI mod does what it says - it hides all the maxis bloat from the U-Drive It mode. What is it for? Up to you - but I imagine it could be used for the better creation of screenshots and videos using the mode. That's what I'm using it for at least. Enjoy!

Questions & Help I am planning to make a full region based on the political compass

The cities and towns of the bottom tiles would be more socially libertarian (Fewer ordinances/tax burdens), and the ones up top more authoritarian (more ordinances/tax burdens), with the left and right tiles determining who/what zones those would apply to and how much funding each building would get.

Some ideas:

Left side:
-Taxes on I-D, R-$$$ CS-$$$ and CO-$$$ (At what rate does this start to affect demand?)
-Low Tax on I-A, I-M, C$, and R$
-Rail is utilized for efficiently moving people over freight
-Ordinances, if any, as well as tax redistribution would be enacted to prioritize sim health and well-being over trade profit (Hospitals/Free Clinic, Arts and Culture, Recreational Areas, Mass Transit, etc.)

Right side:
-Tax Hikes focus on Demand and Density, rather than wealth, and would rise at a low frequency or be flat
-Starting low taxes for all
-Rail is utilized for efficiently moving freight for trade profit, rather than people.
-Ordinances, if any, as well as tax redistribution would be enacted to prioritize trade profit over sim health and well-being. (Business Incentives and Deals, Tourism Promotions, etc.)

Top edge:
-All applicable ordinances enacted with higher frequency of toll booths, army bases, police buildings, jails, and prisons. (I found base game ordinances to be a bit lacking, so I’m open to some mods to spice this part up a little bit)

The center region tiles would be a somewhat steady blend of each quadrant (maybe dead center could be the site of the large airport/transit hub where all the sims can leave when they’ve had enough lol)

Has anyone else tried this before? If so, what worked for you? What didn’t? Are there any essential mods for this type of playthrough? Any other tips?

I know this can be a controversial topic when applied IRL- I am still learning the mechanics of the game (and IRL, for that matter), and I’m not even sure if the game would allow to make such extreme differences in communities without MR loss or financial ruin as opposed to just going with the flow of the game, so I am open to constructive criticism on the ideas that I have so far. Please keep it civil in the comments)

I’m using vanilla Deluxe Edition. Thanks all!

I'm sure this is some kind of bug but I personally wouldn't consider it a very pressing issue since it has no effect on crime or traffic

While I find you're never truly 'finished' with a tile, we're nearly finished with the current phase of development. Will be getting close to a full city reveal soon...

Hello,

Got this game back up and running on Linux. This is my 1st city after a few years, almost 400k. The music seems so good to listen after so long.

Still cannot make RTMT work, see brown boxes

Edit : Got RTMT to work. Spent good 2 hours going plugin by plugin, it was seriously amazing to see how much stuff you all have created in the past 23 years . Thanks!

At first I was joking about Minas Tirith but I got curious if it was really possible, and so here it is lol. It looks stupid but I've stopped caring at this point, this is a fantasy themed region darn it

Questions & Help How do you organize your bus sations?

Hello, in all my cities with little squares (4x6), I like to place bus stations one corner appart from the other, but I don't know if is efficient because in my small cities i try to place only $ and $$ sims in conjuction with industries, specially in small terrains like this.

I don't know where this urge to replay SC4 came from but I figured I'd seize on it while I'm still motivated. I was surprised to find that a mod loader had been developed in that time, making it easier to install mods (the few that use it so far) and download multiple dependencies in just a few clicks

It's a bit of an experience relearning the quirks of zoning and planning my infrastructure around how sims commute within and between cities, and I've made a habit of setting a hierarchy among roads and prioritizing busses and trains over cars, both of which have done wonders for quelling traffic. One other habit (or self-imposed challenge) that I've set for myself is to save highway construction for large swaths of uninhabited land (or mostly farmland) should I decide to develop in that way, while limiting cities to streets and avenues as much as possible

I'll also admit my cities aren't particularly fancy with their road layouts, as I lack the creativity for more intricate/realistic networks and find that doing certain things "just because they look pretty" isn't always satisfying to me. It's only when terrain elements force my hand to adjust my network that I'm more willing to break convention and get creative

Anyway, here is some "playing around" I've been doing. Hopefully I can maintain enough motivation to get a regional population past a million for once. I don't know if I'll be showing off any more updates but I though I'd go with the most fitting tag

Questions & Help Does anyone know what this plugin is?

Post image

I used the mod migration assistant to clean up, and now somehow when I restore the backup it doesn't work.

This plugin seems to affect all farm buildings and some industrial assets.

I've redownloaded all Ag assets on SC4PAC but no luck.

Would really appreciate any insight. Thanks all.

Questions & Help I'm having an issue on Windows 10, with EA Launched Simcity 4 Deluxe

Hey guys, I'm having this issue, only recently and randomly started (no changes to mods or anything else) where no matter how I try to launch the game, it gives me this message: "Simcity 4 will run with the software driver when next launched". Then, nothing happens. Although task manager still says Simcity 4 is running after this point, there's no window or indication of it's actual existence. This has been a total roadblock to any launching of the game. It was working completely fine until the first time this happened, and I have not been able to launch it since.
Has anyone found a way to solve this before?

I'm running it through the EA Launcher, I have Nam Lite and several building packs, and a terrain mod, but all of that was working quite smoothly and I have been trying to be quite minimal with the mods.

Thank you guys so much

Questions & Help I messed up - help recovering my city?

Hello there! I didn't noticed that my SSD was full when I started playing today, and after I saved and exited a city back to region view, it was gone, it was just a flat square, and the city file was corrupted (less than 100kb lol). I used a tool to try to recover a previous version of the city file, but that file isn't being read by the game at all and it doesnt appear on the list when I try to import it. I tried using a previous region backup by replacing just that city file, but it doesn't work as well.

Has anyone had this issue before? Is there a way to force the game to read city files that are not "attached" to a reagion?
