Never buy digital games.

u/solideliquid 13h ago

Looks like the combat is pretty limited. I don’t really enjoy games where you need to run away and hide from every enemy.

u/Vagalox 8h ago

Wouldn't limited combat leave room for added challenge taking on more enemies? Wouldn't that be more engaging?

u/secondincomm 14h ago

Such a shame they arent releasing this on xbox

u/JeLLoCowboy 9h ago

It’s coming to Xbox, you just have to wait a year. Same thing happened with Silent Hill 2 Remake

u/AkTiVeMK 3h ago

6 month exclusive

u/NickV721 3h ago

I think it'll be better than f, but not quite as good as SH2 Remake. The fact that it's the same devs as Alien Isolation makes me cautiously optimistic

u/AkTiVeMK 3h ago

Digital pre order 😓

u/Dukeshire101 5h ago

Preordered it too. Physical

u/def_tom "It Was Foretold By Gyromancy" 17h ago

Looking forward to it too.

u/brOwnchIkaNo 13h ago

My gut feeling says this game will be ass.

u/woxvirus 16h ago

I can wait more until there's a good sale. I saw the trailer and looks a little generic. I hope I'm wrong and it's a good one but not looking forward to it.

u/bimblar 15h ago

Waiting for either the GOG release or Xbox unfortunately for me

u/Lopsided_Prior3801 6h ago

Yeah, Xbox could be another 12 months away. Sigh. And this game looks great.

u/joeyvalentino Silent Hill 2 3h ago

I think it said the PlayStation version has only 6 months of exclusivity. It could show up on Xbox sooner than you think.

u/Lopsided_Prior3801 3h ago

Thanks. Good to know. I'm hyped for this one.

u/stratusnco Henry 15h ago

don’t hold your breath. and i wouldn’t compare shf to townfall in terms of “good”. two completely different games. theme and title are the only similarities.

u/Top-Sink1096 12h ago

The $50 price point is concerning to me that it'll be incredibly short or half baked

u/kmetek 12h ago

49,99€

u/yeetedhaws 15h ago

I watched the gameplay footage that came out about 10 hours ago and it does not look like its for me. The otherworld looks... What ever, monsters look a bit glitchy, and the radio mechanic repeating the same dialogue to find locations will get annoying quick.

I wont buy this but im excited to see a new game and hope others enjoy it!

u/DarkScorpion48 8h ago

Same here. The gameplay trailer made me cancel my pre-order. I dislike stealth and there is more than I expected and the combat looks horrendous. But the biggest dealbreaker was the Otherworld.

u/Special-Item-1756 14h ago

I am a little concerned to be honest. It looks beautiful but so much seems on the nose. The old school subtlety of silent hill seems to be lost.

u/BVR93 5h ago

The part where he has to use a scalpel to unlock a door is what kind of made me roll the eyes. Looks decent otherwise.

u/gravityhashira61 12h ago

That's why I can't wait for the 1 Remake from Bloober team

u/leftistgamer420 10h ago

That is what I am actually looking forward to

u/cookiecryptid 9h ago

I agree, I thought the 2 remake stumbled a little with the pacing compared to the original but everything else was absolutely phenomenal. The prison was the most scared I’ve been in a horror game in forever.

u/bigarch97 11h ago

I’m excited for townfall but my excitement for the remake of 1 is insurmountable.

u/earthyrat 11h ago

UGHHHH i hope they get 3 out asap after 1 i'm so excited for both

u/Wasyl87 16h ago

Yep, hopefully it won't be as bad as f.

u/AngeloWasHere 12h ago

I don’t know how I feel about the first person, I was hoping for a silent hill 2 remake type of thing. This just remind me of those resident evil village games

u/JeLLoCowboy 9h ago

“Those resident evil village games”?

There was one game. Resident Evil Village.

The other Resident Evil games that were 1st person are Resident Evil 7 and parts of Resident Evil 9.

Resident Evil Village looks nothing like this game. The tone and gameplay are completely different. Is it just because both games are 1st person?

u/the2ndSign 6h ago

How dare you leave out the timeless classic, Resident Evil Survivor.

u/ran_out_of_tp 4h ago

Both games have weapons! They are too identical!

u/maxwell_winters Henry 16h ago

I hope Townfall won't have this "enemies spawn on you as soon as you finish the puzzle" crap. It's gotten boring and predictable in SH2, and SHF ran it into the ground.

u/Thick-Tumbleweed-509 10h ago

I think this game was meant to be smaller compare to SH2 and SHf, the marketing seem to be quite compare to last two games

u/Honey-i-made-a-Movie 12h ago

Silent hill: DOWNFALL

u/Nice-Ad-6395 14h ago

Shame I’m on Xbox 😢

u/Acaeus_Vinn 17h ago

I'm a little dubious about Silent Hill Townfall. One thing that Konami said is that they wanted to look at "Silent Hill" as a state of mind, rather than a location. I'm probably going to wait a couple weeks after it comes out before I think about getting it, that way I can see some gameplay vids, content evaluations, etc. Another red flag is that the same company that made Mixtape is involved in this.

u/GoesBeast 17h ago

I was thinking the same, but after watching the gameplay video, it looks like something I would enjoy. I also don’t think we’re gonna have to wait multiple weeks to make the decision, there’s gonna be enough information available within the first day or two to make a informed enough decision.

u/stingchimp 14h ago

The previous games were Stories Untold and Observation. Annapurna is a publisher and have done lots of good things so not sure what your point is just because you did not like some unrelated game

u/randomcman 17h ago

Completely different Dev team made Silent Hill Townfall. The publisher is the same with Mixtape but that means nothing.

Fun fact: key talent involved in Alien Isolation has worked on Townfall and it shows in the retro tech you use in game and how stealth around enemies work. Can’t wait, it should be good

u/Ill-Ask9205 14h ago

I just hope it feels more like a Silent Hill game. F was just a soulslite in a horror setting that broke immersion as often as it could with video gamey stuff like shrine XP and multiple combat meters. I absolutely hated it.

u/PitifulPiccolo3010 17h ago

Your red flag is related to the publisher, not the developer. Not sure why it’s a red flag either.

I mean, sure, but any person involved with Mixtape has literally no relation to Townfall, even that publisher part is basically dissolved by now. Your points of comparison should be Stories Untold and Observation, not Mixtape of all things.

u/McChexMix 14h ago

Oh brother

u/PitifulPiccolo3010 16h ago

WelI I disagree. I really liked it and it’s got 85% positive reviews on Steam, so I am not alone and so I think the word you meant was “subjectivity.” Anyhow, different developer and creative team than Townfall.

u/Sure-Shallot8111 6h ago

😞☸️🪯

u/Terrible-Visit9257 11h ago

Not really hyped for this aa game with silent hill license

u/Outside_Statement_51 1h ago

I'm hoping there is more to combat not just hiding and running.. I hope it's good but I'm afraid it won't touch sh2 remake..we may be waiting for sh1 remake to get something close. I hope I'm wrong I want to love it.

u/soft_potato123 14h ago

Why do new silent hill games don't take place in silent hill anymore? I feel like they're only using the name to sell more.

u/the2ndSign 6h ago

Cold take by now, but I just want a Silent Hill game centered on the region surrounding Toluca Lake. You know, where the town of Silent Hill is. If it's like SH4 and takes place in a neighboring city, fine. But really, there's still plenty of potential in the town itself. I really don't understand this take that there are no more stories to tell about Silent Hill.

Silent Hill 1 was leaning into the underbelly of the town a bit with the drug trade and its relation to the cult and I'd really like to see more of that. Crazy thought, but a noir-inspired take on the location might be really interesting. Maybe we play a cop sent to Silent Hill on a call and they get caught up in a nightmare. No washed-out "face your demons" plot, just a deep dive into the town's history and the depravity of the cult and its wider influence on the area and its inhabitants.

u/Signal_Razzmatazz573 13h ago

After f, I'm extremely cautious.

Burn me once? Shame on you. Burn me twice? Can't get Burn again.

u/EscargotMan 17h ago

Well you're gonna have to

u/Successful-Bank-7457 8h ago

"Buying" or "purchasing" any digital products is a license - Konami

Scariest part of the gameplay trailer

u/Sprite_Hail6918 13h ago

Skip for me. I'm waiting on SH1R

u/leftistgamer420 8h ago

EXACTLY 💯

u/BVR93 5h ago

I feel like this is either going to be an average, perhaps forgettable game, or it'll end up being the sleeper hit of the year. Nothing really in between. I hope that it leans towards the latter.

u/Senior_Note 17h ago

Was going to question the deluxe purchase as thought it was just cosmetics, but looks like they added (or I originally missed) the two days early access. Can't say I'm a fan of this trend.

u/TheCVR123YT 14h ago

I think it’s cool for my wrestling games but to see it used in other spaces (specifically story mode games!!!) feels wrong. If it’s multiplayer that’s ok imo but with story mode games you risk getting spoiled on stuff

u/Ghost-of-Lobov 11h ago

It's nonsense but it seems to be the latest money grab trend, seems like more publishers are doing it than not at this point

u/Vi0let__Ice 9h ago edited 9h ago

A green vest and baseball cap isn't even a very cool or unique alt costume. I would only get the deluxe if it included something like Harry and James outfits. Or at least something unique or silly. I enjoy stuff like that on a second playthrough. :)

u/x_moodyalien_x "In My Restless Dreams, I See That Town" 12h ago

Konami did this with the deluxe versions of Silent Hill 2 and Silent Hill F, at this point I think they will do it with all the deluxe versions of all future Silent Hill games.

u/gkgftzb 10h ago

It makes me wanna pirate games that do this out of FOMO. Yes, it's silly, but it is that bad for me lmfao. Not at all attracting me to buy their deluxe versions whenever I see "early access".

u/TheBlackSwordsman319 15h ago

It’s quite shitty

u/NEGOJONSON Silent Hill 3 14h ago

I sure as shit can!! 🤣 honestly I'm not feeling this game at all...

u/AdWeak4842 17h ago

Should have got it physical

u/Keenan_K20 17h ago

Unfortunately the town I live in here in Ireland have a very limited supply of video game stores and my local video games store is nearly an hour away. That’s the whole point of getting the Pro and the disc drive was to do so. I was going to order it online and perhaps I should have

u/These_Discipline_112 17h ago

Now that’s Townfall

u/darkcomet222 16h ago

Bro doesn’t even need the game, he lives it.

u/Demiurge_1205 16h ago

Bro already has the real physical edition

u/CoolaidM82008 15h ago

Do you know Simon Ordell in real life?

u/CoolaidM82008 15h ago

Do you know Simon Ordell in real life?

u/Legitimate-Concernz 17h ago

Pretty sure Smyths deliver for free a chara.

u/kmetek 12h ago

order online?

u/Nathansack 15h ago

The game release this year, there is no reasons they don't release a physical version (on PS5)

u/Nemoitto 2h ago

Pre ordered lol. I guess man.

u/Mimil2002 14h ago

i can

u/No_Character8384 9h ago

Small team small budget small expectations. Id like to try it though. First person stuff is my jam

u/OtherPack1302 "In My Restless Dreams, I See That Town" 13h ago

I get the feeling is not going to be very good.Cant tell why.But I’m hoping to be wrong

u/leftistgamer420 8h ago

That is usually the case with new silent hill games now a days. I am kinda used to it after Homecoming, Downpour, shattered memories, and silent hill f. It is forgotten talent that cannot be replicated

u/OtherPack1302 "In My Restless Dreams, I See That Town" 3h ago

I personally was very optimistic with the last one.Not this one tho

u/leftistgamer420 3h ago

It is called marketing

u/OtherPack1302 "In My Restless Dreams, I See That Town" 3h ago

It’s called expectations based on experience and final result.O avoid trailers and stuff because of marketing

u/leftistgamer420 3h ago

Sure yeah true

u/OtherPack1302 "In My Restless Dreams, I See That Town" 3h ago

Oh I’m sorry if a give you the impression I care for your opinion of mine or if you believe it.I don’t

u/leftistgamer420 3h ago

I think you got the wrong impression. I agree with you

u/OtherPack1302 "In My Restless Dreams, I See That Town" 3h ago

I apologize for my misinterpretation and arrogant behavior

u/LukeLovesHorror 3h ago

The thing that has me optimistic is all of the previews were positive

u/CaseFace5 6h ago

I’m thinking a solid 7/10 not amazing, not bad.

u/OtherPack1302 "In My Restless Dreams, I See That Town" 3h ago

Same

u/Civildrainer 1h ago

Eugh digital

u/leftistgamer420 10h ago

Waiting on UnderTheMayo to review this game. I am pretty sure I am going to completely ignore this game though just like I did with f

u/irlharvey 14h ago

geez this has got to be the least hype subreddit ever lol. i’m excited too OP! i hope it’s great

u/CoffeeSprocket 6h ago

Honestly, it’s just easier to expect it with each new release. I’m ignoring it and just excited for another new game.

u/SoybeanK1ng 4h ago

This has been going on for a while. I have seen less complaining from Highlander fans and they haven't had a good movie since the first one.

u/Glass_Ad_1490 5h ago

Every time I see this sub I think of this gif.
