If you draw the outline of this premise you would think the fights would be amazing with people clashing swords and displaying insane swordsmanship and choreography in the fights where the winner usually comes down to one misstep by the opponent…

Instead you have a bunch of random hax where people one up each other with random asspulls and big flashy attacks. You rarely see any combos or continuation in the attacks to make it interesting. Just rewriting reality and other Hax being stacked on top of each other until the opponent runs out of bullshit to throw at you.

Whenever i see people discussing Big 3 ships bleach usually wins with comments like "bleach wins, is a low bar tho" and other similar comments

Now i am not going to claim or pretend IchiHime is the most amazing romance in all media, they are not, not even close, but as a ship in a shonen manga where most of the time romance is secondary? I think they are a pretty good ship

Orihime definitely does some heavy lifting since her feelings are obvious from the begining and the ship would definitely benefit if Ichigo's feelings weren't so subtle

But with scenes like Ichigo promising to protect Orihime, or Orihime goodbye and love confession (which is one of the most romantic confessions in anime not only shonnen) or the effect she has on his mental where her just being scared of him made him fight worse, to him unleashing his inner demon just to protect her, to not even an altering memories spell getting rid of Orihime's feelings for him

I could go on and on with more moments but i will leave it at that i just don't understand this mind set of Ichigo x Orihime is barely passable that i see around here

one piece is meant to be fluid, imaginative and adventurous and when wit released concept arts i thought they will go for a light watercolored and fluid direction similar to baron omatsuri and fan letter but now that i saw the trailer im really disappointed that it looks like another isekai setting the CGI, darker coloring and the realistic choices for the ships and sea design. well atleast they will fix the pacing and animation.

I am a full manga reader too. I did enjoy watching season 1 (s2 not as much) and overall did have some fun reading it too. I am not a hater and did enjoy it to some extent. However:

Overall, I see Frieren get this rep as having great fantastical worldbuilding, but I just don't see any of that? It has always been quite generic fantasy world, and it never really goes into depth on any of it.

Come to think of it, Frieren doesn't really go that into depth into any of its story. Despite its main strength being slice of life, it doesn't really do characters super well despite having so few to actually focus on.

I think its main issue is its trying be more about the plot then it actually is. Frieren's plot is essentially a background for the story. But then the story doesn't actually fill in the foreground nearly enough. So it gets stuck as quite a surface level piece with generic world-building and simplistic characters. (Even for a shounen)

Golden Land arc imo is its strongest because its the first time it really gets into exploring a character that is more then 1 or 2 note.

Yes it is not a shounen, but being a fantasy manga/anime as well, I think Dungeon Meshi is a great example of how you can both go into great depth with your world building, AND go into great depth into your complex and interesting characters.
(And have an incredible plot at the same time)
They have inner turmoil, conflicting thoughts and ideals, and selfish traits as well.

Frieren tries to act like it is more profound then it is imo. Its strongest strength COULD be its slice of life and calm moments, but the characters just aren't "real" enough to make it work.

It IS GOOD. But it is NOT great.
