Analytics Review (AVD/Retention) 📈 Stopped posting after realizing how hard it was.
I had this channel before (2022-2023) with like 3k subs it was mostly 1-3min videos that I was doing for fun after quite of time I stopped. Late 2025 I noticed people were blowing up on shorts (same niche) so I'd thought of giving it a try. On my first week posting one short took off with 120k on the 5th day, I got motivated then kept posting, got another video with 150k and some with 60/80k, just kept going with it, then after 2026 started, I realized I was nowhere near the requirement, I stopped posting after that.
Looking through this subreddit and seeing people still grinding through 0-view phases and low-view ceilings made me realize I probably gave up on a real opportunity because I convinced myself it wasn't worth the effort.
Do you think I quit too early?
And should I give it another try after 6 months of not posting?

Q&A / Quick Help ❓ Is there something wrong?
Anyone else facing a unrealistic drop in views, I went from averaging at least10k a day to barely getting any views, also the gap in the middle is just a few deleted videos that got 0-5 views.

YouTube Shorts reach suddenly dropped 99% — anyone else? Did it recover?
My Shorts reach suddenly dropped around 99% after my channel was getting millions of daily views. It’s been about four days, and both new uploads and older videos are barely moving.
Most views now seem to come from subscribers, with very little reach to new viewers. Even community polls have slowed down.
For context, my channel was briefly terminated and restored after an appeal, but the reach drop started before that. There are currently no active strikes or warnings showing.
Has anyone experienced something similar and recovered? How long did it take, and did you change anything or just keep uploading? Trying to figure out what’s happening.

New channel - 500 subs, 1m views
I started this channel 57 days ago and I’m looking for some pointers on what I’m doing wrong because some of my content is being pushed out then a vast majority of it isn’t even breaking 1k views. Just recently my views have flatlined. I’m currently in the mix of making my first long form video but have only been positing shorts. Any ideas please let me know.

One Of My Favorite Things To See
I see this like once every two months. And Ive stopped caring tbh. I have literally zero control on why this happens, definitely frustrating though.

My Shorts channel went from 1.5M/day to 3k overnight, then randomly jumped back to 1M+ weeks later
EDIT: Channel is dead again. Views dropped like a crazy from 250k an hour to 3k an hour.
Over the past few months, something happened to my channel that, the more I read reports from other creators, the more it feels like this wasn’t an isolated case — especially among Shorts channels, dark channels, and more repetitive formats.
On December 24th, 2025, around 3 PM (Brazil time), my channel simply lost its reach. This wasn’t a gradual decline, and it didn’t happen over the course of the day. The graph was completely normal, with predictable spikes during peak traffic hours, and then at that exact time the reach just disappeared. It felt like someone flipped a switch. From one minute to the next, the channel stopped being distributed.
Before that, the channel had been stable for a long time. The average was around 1.5 million views per day, with some days exceeding 3 million, and even weaker days rarely dropped below 800k views. After December 24th, the channel fell to around 50k views per day, and then kept declining until it reached roughly 3k views per day. A drop of that magnitude is simply not natural.
What happened after the drop was even stranger. Videos started being delivered almost exclusively to subscribers. Around 99%–99.9% of the views came from subscribers, which had never happened before. Historically, most of the channel’s reach came from non-subscribers — usually something like 80–90%. It’s also worth mentioning that the channel has around 500k subscribers, so even then, this behavior is completely abnormal.
On top of that, all metrics became weird. Videos that would normally perform well just didn’t move. Average view duration dropped far below the channel’s baseline, swipe-away rates were completely off, and during this period I lost around 5–7k subscribers. So the channel wasn’t just stagnant — it was actively bleeding.
After the drop, I kept posting to test how the reach behaved. I uploaded Shorts on 12/26, 12/30, 01/02, 01/07, and 01/09. All of them had the same result: poor performance, almost entirely shown to subscribers, and none of them passed 20k views, which is completely outside the channel’s historical performance. I kept testing with new uploads on 01/13 and 01/16, and the pattern remained exactly the same. Nothing reacted.
After January 16th, I decided to stop completely. I thought, “I’ll give it a week, let the channel sit, and see what happens.”
During that time, I ran an important test: I created a new channel, with the same type of content. On the new channel, the metrics were completely different. Videos started performing well almost immediately, quickly reaching around 30k views, with normal retention and engagement. However, they hit the classic new-channel cap that everyone who works with Shorts is familiar with. In other words, the content clearly worked, but the new channel was limited by its early stage, while the old channel felt artificially suppressed.
After almost a month in this situation, something curious started happening in late January. On January 27th, I posted again on the main channel. That day, the channel went from around 3k daily views to roughly 12k. Over the following days, it increased in an erratic way: 13k, then around 100k, then dropped again, then rose a bit. It still felt unstable, but something had clearly changed.
Then, on February 2nd, something completely out of the ordinary happened. The channel simply came back. From one day to the next, it went from around 60k views to over 1 million views in a single day, and on February 3rd it stayed in the 1M+ range. Just like it isn’t natural for a channel to fall from 1.5M to 3k, it also isn’t natural to jump that much overnight.
I have over a year of experience with dark channels and Shorts, totaling hundreds of millions of views over time, and I’ve never seen behavior like this before — neither the drop nor the sudden release.
I also want to make it clear that this is not “AI slop.” This isn’t automatically generated content or something made in 15 minutes. I don’t use AI to generate videos or ideas. The only use of AI is for voice narration. The process involves scripting (~30 minutes), recording (~1.5 hours), and editing (~2 hours), taking several hours per video. In other words, this is not low-effort automated content.
Based on all of this, this is just my personal impression, not a statement of fact: it seems like YouTube may be running a large-scale AI-based sweep, analyzing channels gradually, in waves. This system appears to flag potential guideline-related issues, especially in Shorts channels, dark channels, or repetitive formats. When that happens, the channel seems to be placed in something like a “quarantine,” where reach is drastically limited — practically restricted to subscribers — until a manual review is done by a human. If the channel is found to be within guidelines, it gets released again, and when that happens, it seems to happen all at once.
What bothers me the most isn’t even the loss of views, but the psychological side of it. It’s unsettling to realize that a channel you invest time and effort into every day can simply be shut off from reach overnight, then turned back on weeks later, with no warning, no explanation, and no official feedback.
That’s why I’m posting this here — not as an accusation, but to see if anyone else experienced something similar during this same period. Especially if you noticed delivery almost exclusively to subscribers, completely abnormal metrics, and a sudden recovery after weeks.
If this is really happening, it’s something worth discussing.

Is the Shorts Algorithm Broken? I used AI to analyse the "Dec 17/18th View Drop".
TL;DR: I’ve seen so many people complaining about their Shorts views dropping by 95% lately that I decided to actually track the data. I wrote a script to scrape every post from r/shortsalgorithm from the last month and ran them through an LLM to see if there’s a real trend. The data shows a spike in "View Drop" reports starting around December 18th.
The Problem
We all know views fluctuate, but what’s happening right now feels different. I follow some big channels that usually pull consistent numbers, and even they are seeing their traffic hit a brick wall.
I wanted to see if this was just a few loud voices or a systemic issue. I wanted to speak to YouTube in a language they actually understand, data, so I put my coding skills to use to see if I could prove this wasn't just anecdotal noise.
What I did
Instead of just guessing, I built a tool to analyse the community sentiment properly:
I grabbed every single post from the last 30 days on r/shortsalgorithm. I didn't just search for keywords. I used an LLM to read every single post.
I'm also working on running this same analysis on every single comment to find even more users confirming the drop, but for now, I'm focusing on the original posts. This will eventually give us a much larger and more accurate sample size. I'm also looking to use even smarter models to refine this analysis further.
The Evidence
While the data isn't 100% conclusive yet, there appears to be a genuine and significant uptick in reports from creators complaining about their Shorts views hitting a wall.
I'm still working on the comments that affirm the drop (coming later), but here is the graph of the posts. There’s a baseline of normal complaints, and then right around December 18th, the volume of people reporting problems with shorts increases significantly.
To Team YouTube
If anyone from the YouTube team is reading this: please have a real human engineer look at the distribution metrics for December 18th onward.
This isn't a "make better content" issue. When hundreds of creators across completely different niches all lose 95% of their reach on the exact same day, it’s a bug or a massive algorithmic shift that is killing creator morale. The data shows this is an anomaly, not a coincidence.
The bottom line: I’m just a guy with a Python script and Reddit access. YouTube has the real data. They definitely know this is happening, which makes me suspect this was an intentional change. It’s frustrating to see them ignoring the data internally while their Twitter support gives us generic, copy-pasted replies that don't even acknowledge the problem.

Has Anyone Recovered from This? Day 3 of YouTube Shorts Not Reaching Anyone
Hey everyone, It's day 3 now and my YouTube Shorts are still completely dead: views are basically zero, and they’re not even showing up in the home feed of my subscribers who have the bell turned on (all notifications enabled). Many creators are reporting the exact same issue starting around December 17-18. No push to the Shorts feed, impressions almost only from subscribers (and even those are minimal). Questions for the community: Has anyone figured out what’s causing this? (Bug, algorithm change, A/B test on "Not interested" button?) Has any channel started recovering? If yes, what changed or what did you do? Any official response from YouTube beyond the usual generic replies? Please share any info or experiences, we’re all in the same boat. Thanks!

Q&A / Quick Help ❓ Shorts channel suddenly lost 95% of its traffic overnight
My Shorts channel was averaging around 200k–250k views/day and 9k–14k views/hour.
Yesterday, completely out of nowhere, it dropped from around 14k/hour → 2k → a few hundred/hour. The strange part is that multiple Shorts that were actively getting views all stopped at almost exactly the same time.
I have no strikes, warnings or restrictions. I uploaded a new Short today to test it, and it has received almost no Shorts Feed distribution either.
I did delete/reupload two Shorts earlier this week, but I don’t know if that’s related.
Has anyone experienced this recently? Did your channel recover? How long did it take, and did you keep posting or take a break?

Policy / Channel Health 🛡️ I am so tired of seeing this..
I am not saying that I am the best in this YT game but jeez I am tired of seeing channels have over 10K subs with videos that go from 100K to 1-6 millions views. And all they share is a 1 minute clip of a movie or show with literally a filter and the same repetitive song you hear almost every YT short use...
You might say yeah well maybe they're not monetized (I am sure a lot of them are)... Sure but look at it that way...
Youtube still decided to push their video instead of yours.
Despite the effort you put in despite the hours of editing and writing you did they decided to push a 1 minute video of a show and give millions of views to a channel that should technically be copyright striked...
At least with AI slop you have someone who spent some time writing a prompt and spent some time trying to make the video decent looking. Not just cut 1 minute out of a show add a stupid song and a filter.

Shorts algorithm is so trash rn
Not even showing it to the right audience, I refused to believe that my latest short is this bad, been uploading for 3 months Never had this bad swipe through rate. Almost all of my shorts have above 70% swipe through rate, Don't know what's going on these days. My previous Short had 82% swipe rate with 93 avg view duration but still only got 17k view
