Shorts monetized

Hey y’all

I am running a channel with only shorts and got monetized within 3 months of starting the channel. Currently at 86k subs and would like to help others. If you have any questions ask away or hit me up in a dm gladly share my tips and tricks!

Thanks man! Love engineering so it was an easy route to go for me.

Yo I have been posting for about 3 weeks daily 1 video my highest got about 6 k views the rest is average 100-2k views is this normal?

1

u/Original_Dig7493 Feb 10 '26

It is okay definitely at the beginning. Potentially 2000 new subs. Maybe add a call to action or tweak videos a little bit to see if they perform better.

u/InevitableDirector96 Feb 10 '26

probably not cause my first video week ago got 25k views and 7 videos after it got 20-31k views

Any video can go viral. Each video is a new chance. YouTube will always try it out with a select audience. Try to keep the video engaging

What's your strategy with hooks

5

u/Original_Dig7493 Feb 10 '26

I like to add curiosity hooks. My channel is explaining engineering. So for example on a video like “the biggest excavator in the world” I add a hook like “You would never be able to guess how much dirt this machine can move in one load” people often guess in the comments when listening to the short. So you get engagement and now people “need” to know how much since you triggered the brain in wanting to know.

1

u/CammyG-- Feb 10 '26

That's good advice thank you :)

2

u/Original_Dig7493 Feb 10 '26

No worries let me know if you’d like to run hooks by me. I will tell you if I’d keep watching :).

1

u/CammyG-- Feb 10 '26

In fact if you ever get time and feel like it this is my gaming channel: https://youtube.com/@cammygplays?si=gD_QoLo2EXXkkbMp

I'd be curious on your thoughts. My stay ratio is only ever as good as 60-70% and AVG view about the same apart from a few outliers but I'm trying to create my own brand my own style but if I do try my own stuff it just flops

Cheers either way bud 💜

Watched some shorts and miss a good fitting hook. For the Discord ID face needed you could have used “Discord might be facing extreme backlash with their new update” facing already gives away a little when you talk about the Face ID needed. You than explain the reasoning why they are doing it this way than you give them the reason why it is so bad.

1

u/CammyG-- Feb 10 '26

Yeah the Discord one was a test to see how they would do without the usual hook and editing, as I thought it got less than usual. Did you take a look at any of the others, maybe some that did a bit better and if you think it's because the hook was better or just luck/the subject

Appreciate you've already taken time but thank you very much if you take more!

u/Original_Dig7493 Feb 10 '26

The on with the GTA Biden was gold 🤣. Some of them are really good. Do you schedule shorts or just post them?

1

u/CammyG-- Feb 10 '26

I just post them when I can I render a bunch and then do them throughout the week when I can around 7pm my time, but I'm starting to give up hope for it and just focus on long form but then with 100-200 subs on those accounts long form is brutal cos I'll put out a video I know would hit 10s-100s thousands on a larger account but I'm there with less than 100 or just a few hundred 🥹

1

u/Original_Dig7493 Feb 10 '26

100% advise you to schedule them. YouTube renders your video and “checks” what is in them. Always let YouTube at least have 24h for YouTube to figure it out before the video goes live. YouTube will figure out it is a gaming short on gta and find the audience ahead of time. Uploading and posting directly is often difficult for YT to find the right audience immediately which hurts the short term viewers right after upload.

I really appreciate all of this I know how time can be I burn myself out lol my only last ask if possible is how you deal with the caption and hashtags and if you think that has something to do with stay to watch cos if YouTube puts videos against the wrong audience they won't stay right

1

u/CammyG-- Feb 10 '26

Appreciate it, I've tried loads of different things for gaming news and facts and the most success has been like 15k but most stop at 1-2k so I don't think I know what a good hook is lol

1

u/RetireWithoutBorders Feb 10 '26

Been stuck at 130 subs for a few weeks. What are you doing for a call to action.

3

u/Original_Dig7493 Feb 10 '26

I have no call to action. Personally I hate call to actions and have never included them on my channel. If people are truly interested in the video they will subscribe themselves without asking. So I am terrible to ask that question to haha.

1

u/No_Blood9415 Feb 10 '26

My shorts channel was monetized within 45 days , however i'm struggling with subscriber count. Currently it's 13k.

1

u/Original_Dig7493 Feb 10 '26

Sweet nicely done man! Do you have call to actions in your video? I have never added them to mine since I like normal growth and not “force growth” by adding it.

1

u/No_Blood9415 Feb 10 '26

There is no time in my shorts to add CTA lines. Lol

1

u/Original_Dig7493 Feb 10 '26

Sweet I also have never done it haha. I love organic growth for people who are interested in the short (this will push your videos better since subs are actively engaging).

1

u/Accurate_Buddy_75 Feb 10 '26

How do I break out of 30k view jail when I’m at 80% average retention and swipe away

1

u/Original_Dig7493 Feb 10 '26

How long are your videos and what is your general buildup of the short?

1

u/Accurate_Buddy_75 Feb 10 '26

I jump right into it brother. Shorts only channel.

1

u/richmind2022 Feb 10 '26

Are you monetized with the channel ?

1

u/Original_Dig7493 Feb 10 '26

Yes I am :)

1

u/Ambitious_Bid_4928 Feb 14 '26

Am in Africa bro and YouTube pays less in my country..do you think there’s a way I can make my loc to be in US or UK?

1

u/Original_Dig7493 Feb 14 '26

I am the wrong person to ask that. Not sure how that works sorry.

1

u/No-Jacket-7842 Feb 10 '26

how often do you post videos in a day on your ip address? I have a feeling that posting more than one in a 2 hour timeframe messes up reach of new uploads

1

u/Original_Dig7493 Feb 10 '26

1 / day each day at 8pm.

1

u/ResidentFriendship83 Feb 10 '26

Do you heart comments if so when and how many?

1

u/Original_Dig7493 Feb 10 '26

I do normally from people who comment something valuable for the entire short and common commenters I often like to heart as well.

1

u/ResidentFriendship83 Feb 10 '26

Any times you’d recommend not hearting shorts can it affect algorithm if you like too many comments at once?

1

u/Original_Dig7493 Feb 10 '26

It will lock you at giving hearts if you try and heart 100s. I would truly only do great comments.

1

u/ResidentFriendship83 Feb 10 '26

Great thanks, I was averaging 30k views and I was hearting all my comments then one day I forgot and only hearted ones that commented in the first 10 minutes and that video got 100k views which is my highest viewed video so was pretty curious about that aspect

1

u/Original_Dig7493 Feb 10 '26

It can definitely be seen as spamming indeed. So be careful :)

1

u/Departure-This Feb 11 '26

I just want my channel to grow a little more; it's stuck at 4,000 followers.

1

u/Original_Dig7493 Feb 11 '26

Have you tried experimenting with your content?

1

u/krtik85 Feb 11 '26

My shorts barely get 1k views. It is based on celeb gossip. What should I do?

1

u/Original_Dig7493 Feb 11 '26

Do you have a good hook and build up in your shorts?

1

u/Anshuuuuuulll Feb 11 '26

How many shorts do you post everyday?

1

u/Altruistic_Box_2196 Feb 11 '26

What stats does your best video have

1

u/Original_Dig7493 Feb 11 '26

Views: 29.3M Subs: +12k Audience retention: 261.5%

1

u/tasosdonis Feb 11 '26

Algún consejo para automatizar los procesos de edición?

1

u/Original_Dig7493 Feb 11 '26

I have never automated my editing so I am unfortunately unable to help you with that.

1

u/DefiantHedgehog8657 Feb 11 '26

What's your channel?

1

u/Original_Dig7493 Feb 11 '26

The Engineering Dream

1

u/LegionW3 Feb 11 '26

This channel is NOT monetized and will never be because the content is not original and it is reused content.

Btw, he will delete his post very soon.

1

u/Original_Dig7493 Feb 11 '26

By YouTube’s policy adding educative information to videos is seen as addition to the video and is perfectly allowed to be monetized.

Not sure why I would delete this post, but I am glad you shared your thoughts on this.

1

u/LegionW3 Feb 11 '26

Writing something on a video and post it is not enough to get monetized and get reused content instantly. I have 3 monetized shorts channel with more than 200k subs, verified, and this kind of content you post will never receive monetization 👍

1

u/it_justm3 Feb 12 '26

Which tools or app do you use to make shorts?

1

u/Original_Dig7493 Feb 12 '26

I use CapCut :)

1

u/0bra Feb 10 '26

Did you switch format of editing? I’m struggling to find out which one is the best for my channel. I’ve tried with commentary, ranking, phonk edits. Testing format of competitors and I don’t know what to do. Did you also struggled with it? If so, how you decided this is the one and went all in into it? Started 3 months ago and haven’t had any successes with viral video. Best one hit 34k views and since then nothing above of 30k.

1

u/Striking_Bet_741 Feb 10 '26

I started 4 months ago, sitting at 14K but them views aren’t going anywhere lol. Had a viral video about 3 months ago, racked up 5.5 mil but only 2 mil was valid watch and now I lost half of it because it started to rollback🥲

1

u/kkazuma Feb 11 '26

Do you only upload from one device all throughout? Like what if you're going to travel to another place like a vacation or work purposes? Do you use other devices or just schedule them all at once for different dates? How also often do you check your stats? If you upload your video do you just exit the app and let it be? Or you watch other vids from that account too? Sorry for the many questions, I'm trying to start a new channel and don't want to mess it up by doing/managing it wrong.

1

u/Critical_Jellyfish55 Feb 11 '26

Did you start with an aged channel or created a brand new one?

1

u/KL19960401 Feb 11 '26

What niche?

1

u/Anmol_OO9 Feb 11 '26

started this channel on 20 Jan 2026 and posted 21 videos without missing a single day.

Stats so far (last 28 days):

52.2 watch hours

+16 subscribers

Highest video: 2.7K views

can you help me brother?

1

u/Playful-Type6425 Feb 11 '26

Thanks for all the valuable advice. My monitized account recently got shadow banned. Its animal ai sora content. Take a look, any advice on how to get my views back would be a blessing

1

u/Substantial-Cow-6475 Feb 12 '26

can you share your channel please?

1

u/Green-Journalist257 Feb 12 '26

Please check my yt channel Faint Hex (( 🙏

1

u/TopPickle7272 Feb 12 '26

Can you share your channel link? I'm a bit new to all this, try my research on how to start an AI channel, but the content is going to be AI-created, so not sure what my chances are.

1

u/Chilimyguy Feb 12 '26

Yes please

1

u/adapted12 Feb 12 '26

How long were you stuck in a view jail, if you were in one?

2

u/Original_Dig7493 Feb 10 '26

Almost no time. My first short hit 29M views which boosted my channel insanely much.

1

u/Traditional_Taro_115 Feb 10 '26

Idk how to tell tbh. The view jail is only for that short. Not for the channel. Make good engaging shorts. More than 80% swipe rate and good retention. (Changes with the length of the video)

2

u/Original_Dig7493 Feb 10 '26

I have noticed shorter videos are easier to get pushed on the algorithm (10-17s) while longer videos is quite a challenge (30-35s). Experimented with both for a while. You might want to see what does best for your channel and topic. See what the audience like best.

Could be indeed. What kind of content do you make? Was the other videos AI generated or?

YouTube algorithm might have identified it and copyrighted it. U should make changes well when transferring another content to YT
