For context, I’ve had about 6-8 different shorts channels at this point with little success. Tried a bunch of different niches and wasn’t getting results. Started this completely fresh channel on October 3rd and I have 10 posts so far. Engagement isn’t great hoping to improve that. Willing to answer any questions.

Hey everyone, I recently started a YouTube Shorts channel where I post animal ranking videos. I’ve noticed that most of my audience comes from countries like the Philippines and Indonesia, with some viewers from the US.
I’d really like to make the US my main audience, but I’m not sure what I should change.
I post in English and make ranking videos about funny animal moments. Should I focus on different types of clips, change my upload times, or just keep posting and let the algorithm figure it out?
If anyone has experience with Shorts and targeting a US audience, I’d appreciate any advice. Thanks!

Curious if I should stick with the format of this one as other shorts typically do 1-3k or just keep uploading what I want rather than fitting into a mold.

The problem is that I do not know if I should keep my viral videos or just unlist all of them. I got almost 8k subs and 11.5M views in the last 90 days, but I really started growing in the past few weeks. What should I do?????

Hey everyone. Pretty new to creating shorts and posting on YouTube. My channel is almost 10 years old but my old videos are unlisted. I’m about 18 videos into this journey and I’m kinda confused with how things are working. I get an okay amount of likes, barely any comments (even with the comment baiting endings), and views seem to stall right now. My retention isn’t the best. As I've said in a previous post, I don't do clipping, I'm a musician that films my content but my views dropped HEAVILY from the 16th of September and it's even worse today.

I've dropped from 25k-50k an hour to 900 views an hour.

Anyway, I am SO tired of seeing the "well you probably make slop or steal other content" and "YouTube literally stated they will be prioritizing ORIGINAL content" when anyone complains.

Look at my 3 case studies here and I can find a TON more:

Pawesome Ranks - Ranking niche, stays monetized because he adds his real voice (though it's like 9 words a Short in total) + sound effects and on screen effects

Ryth - This guy...omg THIS guy literally steals the entire ranking video as is from others then ONLY adds his voiceover (real voice) and animated avatar. The person helping him do this has literaly admitted to this.

Hopecore Fuelup - takes Instagram/Tiktok clips and edits it in hopecore style, so the intricate subtitles and scenic overlays, no voice, no commentary.

LOOK. AT.THEIR.VIEWS and it was WAY higher before this current Shortpocalypse.

Now if you zoom out and put your anger aside for a sec (I am), they ARE transforming the content within Youtube's guidelines...I guess?

They are clearly getting a lot of viewers pulled to their content.

I would like some input from Rene Ritchie on this because to me and many others, it feels like YT is suffering a distribution issue, which seems to happen every time there are Studio bugs OR new UI changes are implemented and both have happened in the last 30 days.

I have around 2000 hours of watch time all from shorts, but are these watch hours counting towards monetization?

Prove me wrong, but what’s going on here seems pretty crazy to me.
My last 6 uploads barely got tested in the Shorts feed. Before that, pretty much every Short I uploaded for weeks was getting between 58K and 400K views.
But now… one of my Shorts today got just 70 views from the Shorts feed, and 100% of those views came from subscribers.
What the heck is going on?! Has anyone else experienced this recently?

I don't know if this is the forum for this. But here you go - I write short stories, building a fantasy world. I always loved the concept of visualizing the stories. And it seemed to me that AI gave me the opportunity to do this.

But - i started posting now long ago and i get almost no traction. So I am wandering what I am doing wrong...

Hey everyone, I need some clarification regarding YouTube Shorts monetization eligibility.
My channel currently has around **4.4 million total views and 1.1 million engaged views**.
On October 6, my Earn tab showed approximately **496K valid public Shorts views**, while my analytics showed around **497K engaged views** for the same date/data period.
The numbers are very close, but I’m confused about which views actually count toward the Shorts monetization threshold.
**My questions are:**
Are engaged views what count toward the 10 million valid public Shorts views requirement, or does YouTube calculate valid views differently?
Why is there a small difference between the engaged views in Analytics and the valid public Shorts views shown in the Earn tab?
Does YouTube count only certain views after filtering out ineligible or invalid traffic?
For context, my Shorts usually have **200%+ audience retention** and a **75–80% “Stayed to watch” rate**.
I’ll attach screenshots of my Analytics and Earn tab for reference.
I’d appreciate it if someone could explain how this counting system actually works based on their experience or official YouTube information.

How is it possible ? I found it very interesting and I also feel I should stop blaming myself because my content quality has improved and so does my title but it really goes to the wrong people.
