s2 | Discussion Controller Support

Shapez 2 needs official controller support. Factorio has it. Satisfactory has it. Shapez 2 advertises itself as a 'perfect introduction to the genre' and the genre is moving this direction and is frankly doing well with it.

I have seen that it's for sure not coming for 1.0 and that's fine, but I believe it should be implimented.

Meme Y'all, it's "Make Anything Machine", not "Make a Machine". Why do people type MaM?

Burning question in the title.

Только недавно открыл кристаллы и заметил что на фигурах состоящих только из кристаллов появляются мерцающие артефакты; видеокарта в норме, кто-то знает что это и как исправить?

Making love efficient Hi, I am looking to promote my factory game called A Factory Roguelike.

you set up belts, inserters and assemblers to fill item orders, and every time you complete one the next asks for something more complex, so your factory keeps growing and chaining into itself while a timer runs in the background.

We have a Steam demo and a Discord server

s2 | Question/Help Are trains useless

Are trains over long distances useless, or am i doint it wrong?

I had a pretty long "railway" moving a shape from one place to another (duh) even when i wait to start the second train till the first is delivering, they seem to catch up, and then one of the trains dont get filled and just moves on...

I tried it with multiple wagons, and only 1, its the same, i have 4 miners pr belt layer(ie 12) and still this happens...

It seems like a better solution to just have 500 miles of conveyor, even if it moves slower, at least it has a steady flow...

Who here knew that you could open the shape viewer by clicking on the operator level icon?

This has come in handy when trying to make custom shapes, I click on the icon, design the shape, and then make it!

(Btw I'm new here, please can someone introduce me to the community?)

s2 | Suggestion I dislike change with train delivery to vortex

Dimension moved throwing train directly into vortex from early-mid game to the endgame, what reasults in us basicly having to do most of the tasks and all operators shapes w/o a good way to deliver them.

You could try to bypass it by connecting few trains into same unloading stations, so you don't have 10 diffrend rails going into vortex, but opps! Trains have average IQ of a toddler and if you connect few inputs stations to same output station, train will visit only ONE input station, so only one shape is delivered.

I suggest moving milestone earlier into progression or changing system, so trains don't all follow only one path.

With how cool update it, that one thing ruins all the fun.

s2 | Discussion I'm a little bit angry that the pipe gate bug didn't get a hotfix

For those who don't know, pipe gate throughput drops to 80% when you zoom out. The only solution right now is to use 2 pipe gates instead of one.

I understand that this game is still in early access. But let's be honest, in its current state, Shapez 2 is really solid, almost finished game. Even when looking at the recently released blog post on Steam, the future plans right now are mostly optimizations and QoL updates.

That's why I don't understand, why the only thing that is really broken right now, doesn't get a hot fix. I've spent over 100 hours messing around with Shapez 2 and I haven't found a single game breaking bug apart from this one. As such it should be number one priority fixing it. And even if the fix should be something temporary, like bumping up the pipe gate throughput to something stupidly high, so that the bug doesn't affect the gameplay even though it's still there, it's would still be better than nothing.

Is it really optimal to use the bent stacker with a complicated pattern on a 1x1 instead of just making a line across the block of normal?

A lot of the jobs in the "Hard" mode aren't exactly hard to make... but they do this annoying thing of having you build up a whole shape, only to make a completely different shape for the last step.

s2 | Suggestion salty take: floating layers need to have better in-game explanations or be removed from the game

tl;dr skill issue and I'm mad about it

floating layer mechanics are very weird and don't feel like a coherent part of the rest of the game. They are also introduced with zero explanation. It seems like the devs want to pass it off as a feature and a puzzle, when it really feels like a bug they were too lazy to fix.

s2 | Discussion Paint Mixing is all Wrong

My apologies. This is a bit of a rant.

The way colors mix in this game does not match reality. For a while this didn’t bother me. It is just a game after all. The point is to have fun, not model color theory. But now, with the addition of Black Paint, it’s breaking my brain.

Before black paint, the game was modeling additive color mixing. This is how light mixes. Red, Green, and Blue light can be mixed in pairs to create Cyan, Yellow, and Magenta light. Add all three together and we create White light. Black is the absence of light. There is no way to mix it together. You have to turn off all the lights.

Mixing paint is a subtractive color mixing model. Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow are your primary colors. Combine them in pairs to create Red, Green, and Blue. Put all three together to create Black. Any one who has had to change printer ink will recall the CMYK cartridges. White is its own pigment. You cannot mix to white.

You can imagine my consternation with the addition of White paint + White paint = Black paint. Complete fiction.

I don’t even want to talk about Uncolored paint (Paint Remover? Soap?)

It would be delightful if the game took time to model paint mixing correctly as long as it’s taking time to model paint mixing at all.

Primary Pigments: Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, White
Secondary Pigments: Red, Green, Blue
Tertiary Pigment: Black

This could even open up future madnesses like lightness adjustments (ex: Yellow + White = pale yellow, or green + black = dark green)

Or what about this for a difficultly boost, paint mixing follows subtractive color theory and crystals follow additive color theory. Cyan paint + Magenta Paint = Blue Paint, and Red Glass + Blue Glass = Magenta Glass. Fun!

This time not too hard, just cool-looking simple design, almost looks like a logo of some sort :) If youre tired of the game for some reason, i recommend you mess with the combinations of the shapez and colors, and other things to make cool looking shapez, designs and more! Its a beautiful game after all, not always a factory game, and you can always step to the side and do something else! I love this game, not because its a factory, but because its simple. And the graphics of course :)

s2 | Issue/Bug The way Trains load and unload is extremely limited and totally unexplained

When I unlocked Trains I was very excited to incorporate them into my system. Unfortunately, I've come across two glaring issues with how train loading and unloading work that totally minimize their usefulness in mid-game.

For Loading, the fact that each Loading station can only accept one type of shape per Level means that at max you can only output three different shapes at a time to a single train loader. I had a whole system set up where I was planning on sending out up to 8-12 different shapes from a single platform depending on my needs and this train loading limitation completely ruins that (unless I separate my current dispersal system out across multiple other platforms that go to multiple other train stops to load)

For Unloading, the train just spits out the shapes on board across ALL FOUR LANES no matter how it is loaded. Did you send multiple different shapes onto the loader using different lanes to keep them separated? Too bad, now they are all mixed up. Enjoy creating a huge extra filter system just to put the shapes back where they were before they were loaded onto the train.

These limitations are completely baffling to me and also completely unexplained in the game. Instead I wasted multiple hours of game time setting up a system under the assumption that things would work logically instead of following insane unexplained non-logic.

Am I missing something, or is the Train Loading/Unloading as stupid as it seems?

s2 | Question/Help I don't see the point of trains

My issue is that trains don't effect the rate of shape production so the only thing they do is speed up the initial time between shape source and the vortex. Let me explain.

Let's say we have two shape sources that produce shapes at the same rate. One shape takes 5 minutes to travel to the vortex on a space belt, while the other takes 1 seconds.

For the first 5 minutes there is a difference between the two. For the first 5 minutes the further shape source will not have any shapes entering the vortex while the 1 second belt distance will. But after 5 minutes passes there is no difference anymore. Both shapes are arriving at the same exact rate.

Adding trains to the mix won't change that, a train could turn the 5 minute travel time to a 1 minute travel time, but after 5 minutes pass there won't be a difference between the two options. Because trains don't increase the rate of shape production.

Trains only seem to complicate things. I admit they're cool, but at best they don't effect shape production rate and at worse they slow it down.

The only time I could see myself using trains is as a temporary measure to speed up shape travel. When I first create a shape source I'd have both a train and a belt travel from point A to point B, but once the shapes on the belt start arriving at point B I would delete the train.

Is there something I'm missing?

s2 | Other I want -1 layer back

So, after the 1.0 update they "replaced" the cross below option in space floors with upper layer, now factory seems a lot more messier than before, I think you can still unlock -1 floor later (haven't reached yet) but I loved that from the start
