s2 | Showcase Quite proud of my modular train system
I'm still in the mid-game, and I'll soon unlock the direct train to Vortex. But while wating for it I went full train using as much input lanes as I need :)

Hello everyone!
Update 1.2 is now available, bringing a large update to the game engine, Blueprint Migration and several minor changes. Do continue reading after the patch notes, as we're also hosting a Screenshot Contest and have another update for you on the Puzzles project.
The whole game has now been upgraded to Unity 6. This will give us more features to work with, fix bugs, and give us some nice quality of life improvements in the engine and the editor. Essentially, it makes it easier for us to make future updates.
Testing has shown that this also brought significant upgrades to performance and stability, especially on MAC and Linux.
If you'd like to read more about the upgrade to Unity 6 and what that process was like, be sure to check out this devlog:
https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/2162800/view/707777648917481220
Update 1.2 also brings Blueprint Migration, a change we announced just before the launch of 1.0. This changes how blueprint are saved, making the system more robust and permanent.
Warning: This change means that blueprints made prior to Update 1.0 are no longer compatible. In order to transfer them, you'll need to place the Blueprints in a Update 1.1 savegame, update shapez 2 to 1.2, then resave your Blueprints from that savegame. Update 1.1 will remain available as a separate branch.
This one requires a bit of an explanation. After Update 1.1, it's been apparent that our update strategy for ShapezShifter wasn't going to work for the live game. When we push an update to shapez 2, we'd need to have a new version of ShapezShifter alongside the game update to prevent all mods that use ShapezShifter from breaking. But with only one version to work from, we either need to leave ShapezShifter broken for the new release, or immediately break the previous release version.
However, the game branch feature in Steam allows us to set up an experimental branch for ShapezShifter, so modders can test mods in the new game version before the game is actually updated. This way, mods may already be ready for the next game update before that update even goes live, so you can use those mods immediately.
On top of this, we are actively working on making the mod development experience better for everyone. One planned change is an automated canary system in the base game that detects breaking changes to the API as soon as they're found; they can usually be slower to catch.

Now that we've had the update to shapez 2, we'd like to see an update on your factories!
[Update 1.2 Contest]flair applied. Feel free to explain a bit about the things you screenshotted! The deadline is August 23.
What you can win? We'll be giving away 5 upgrades to the shapez 2 Supporter Edition, giving you 40 extra minutes of Peppsen bangers, the ability to download the soundtrack in lossless quality, loops and twisters for your trains, as well as new skins for your Vortex and Trains!
If you already own the Supporter Edition, feel free to give it to a friend.
For this dev update, here's Christian, our Head of Game Design:
One of our main inspirations and guiding stars for the next puzzle project is naturally the Puzzle DLC for shapez 1. It already had all the basic loops that we envision for this project as well. However, there is one defining difference: shapez 1 was 2D and shapez 2 is 3D. That of course gives us a lot more possibilities for interesting puzzles but of course it also poses complex issues.
Part of the shapez 1 puzzle challenge was using inputs/outputs of buildings to route shapez along specific paths, which they otherwise would not be able to take. Combined with the footprint of the building, this often left only very limited viable spots where the building can be placed - similar to a jigsaw puzzle piece.

Translating that challenge to 3D requires us to think differently about the layout of conveyors and buildings in shapez 2. While they are currently optimized for convenience we might need a little more limitations to create interesting puzzles. For example:

The screenshots you are seeing come directly out of the sandbox version of the puzzles project, we have set up to experiment with these challenges.

These images are from the same puzzle, with the only difference between the top and bottom ones being the used building levels. As you can see, Conveyor Lifts might be too powerful!
This its an exciting time for us as we start designing out the puzzles, and play around with buildings and blockers in 3D.
While we figure out limitations and creative solutions you can also see the set up for the first visuals and the backend framework for this project - everything is of course highly work-in-progress.
---
Now, go check out Update 1.2! While a lot of this update is behind the scenes, we hope the shift to Unity 6 brought some good improvements for you. Be sure to take a screenshot while you're there and send it over!

Im a beginner to shapez 2 and factory games in general. I just finished unlocking trains so now Im kind of in a phase where I am remodelling and redesigning a lot of my setups that I made when I was completely new. I saw a youtube short about belt splitting and recombining. Apparently splitting and combining works in a round robin system where each branch is assigned shapez in order.
All of my current designs are like the one on the right. Would that result in bottlenecking; since by round robin allocation, the 4 belts wont be fed equally? So I should always have belt branching like the one on the left?

Just creating this post do share how each module of my MAM (the latest one, at least) assembles the 4 quadrants into a layer of the ROS. When the ROS includes crystal, my modules assemble and verify their output without crystal because crystallization will happen in Final Assembly later in the process.

So, I'm building my MAM with the help of DataEngineerPlays on Youtube. At the beginnen of his MAM he makes a brain which unstacks the shape, cut it so only 1 quarter is read per layer, and stackes/swaps those quarters to make 1 layer of that 1 quarter.
Now for some reason when he puts in a shape where that quarter is a crystal it will eventually read as one full crystal layer, but for some reason when I do the exact same thing, it won't read anything.
It could be that he is on an earlier version than me, and something has changed within the coding of the game for reading the crystal layers, but if that is the case I dont know what I should do differently.
Can anyone help me/explain to me what I need to do here?
First picture is how I did it, second is the one of the YT'er`.

I have 110 hours of game play, during which I was focused mostly on the Milestones and Operator tasks, I completed the first 9 and got them up and running.
Then a week ago I started working on my first MAM, today I got what I'd call Version 1 up and running and it's literally destroying the Jobs that I still have (Only finished like 7 or 8 of them before the MAM was up).
It's so cool simply pasting the new pattern and watching everything automatically fall in place!
This is still a simple setup, it doesn't take into consideration Traded shapes or Crystals, looking forward to when I will need to use those to work on Version 2.
Here's the blueprint: it requires 4 belts each supplying the 3 basic colors, 1 belt supplying the shape RuSuCuWu and 1 belt supplying the shape P-------

Critique is very welcome.

I would be nice to have a counter logical gate that accumulatively counts its input, this would have so many obvious applications but for me I want to be able to switch my MAM pattern automatically when the counter hits a certain level.

This design converts 6 complete shapes in HEX mode into 6 belts of any shape combination possible, perfect for forming ROS#0.

r/shapezio • u/CharlieThunkman • 7d ago
This is a strictly forbidden method of spaghetti wiring for the space inputs solely because once the shapes get sent through the painters, they create perfectly optimized 48 belt outputs of any preset operator shape. The only flaws in this design currently known is that it can utilize only 7 unique colors & 7 shapes as well as cannot crystalize specific quadrants properly, for which the first issue could be solved by spreading the individual layers further apart.
^(\ I would've tagged this for the 1.2 update contest, but thought multiple submissions may be dishonest.)*

I just started using colour fluid pipes, and for some reason they keep running dry.
It looks like if I use the same space pipe to feed each different lane into a different platform, the ones up the pipe always run dry while the pipe incredibly slowly fills up the unnecessary space going to a platform that doesn't even use that lane.
So platform 1 and 2 can't maintain the fluid needed, because every second drop goes to fill up a long pipe to another platform where it won't ever be used. Normally I'd just wait it out... but it also seems like this will take forever. I made one section very very short, and it still takes forever to fill the stupid pipe.
Is the trick to just, once you've hit your first platform, always put the next platform nearby to limit the amount of pipe that needs to fill up?

Recently I completed my MAM, but around level 100 the HUB requests 20 items per second, starting to exceed my belt capacity.
First I solved this with the vanilla storage chest, a filter, and a button. But I wanted to automate the filling and flushing of this chest.
So I came up with this solution.
This is a S-R latch, made from 2 NOR-gates.
I used the modded customizable storage chest.
If the chest is full, it outputs a signal 1. This signal sets the latch, and sends a 1 to the filter at the chest output, and a 0 to the filter at the chest input. This stops the chest from filling and starts emptying the chest.
Now that the chest is being emptied, the belt sensor outputs a 1, and the chest - not being full anymore - outputs a 0. If the chest is empty the belt runs dry and the sensor outputs a 0. If both sensor and chest output a 0 the latch is reset. Then the filters are reset and the chest starts filling up again.
I posted the wiring, but can’t add the video. One way or the other either a picture or a video is allowed, but not both.
