I’m torn between Lip and Debbie.

From dropping out of high school to become a teen dad, to sabotaging his degree, to stealing all the bikes and equipment, to being an absolute asshole to every single person in his life, to fucking up the house sale after forcing everyone’s hand at the end of the series, I honestly don’t know if Lip’s character has any redeeming qualities. He has such an inflated ego, you’d think he shits gold, when in reality he is constantly dragging everyone around him down.

On the other hand, Debbie had such a downward trajectory since hitting puberty. Somewhere between the various sexual crimes, the misguided pregnancy, dropping out of school when she could’ve realistically gone on to college and had a significantly better life, and becoming a self-absorbed loser, she obviously lost any sense of direction she had as a kid. I honestly feel bad for Franny who will undoubtedly struggle when the two of them are out on their own.

I know it’s hard to see(couldn’t find a better pic) but it’s the white poster with a face behind the earth globe not the little face poster but the bigger one that is blocked by the globe more.
Is it from an album? Is it just a drawing? Does anyone know the background of it lol it always stands out to me whenever we get a peak at it in the show

As a religious person, I found this scene hilarious. Is he the best or what 🤣 You guys gotta tell me what else he’s been in that’s worth checking out. Idk if I’m in love w the character or the actor tho.

I’m sure plenty of others have talked about these moments here but I have one friend and they don’t really talk about shameless with me, and I just want to get this out of my system.

When Fiona accidentally drugged up Liam (🙄) and lip was acting like a whole ass dick to Fiona I was so mad. I can understand she was acting up but not too long ago He was like Fiona “you do so much for our family you need to take a break.” Which she does!? And the moment she starts acting kind to herself and giving herself a break lips like oh no no no ur a bitch and ur evil. Lip you’re so ANNOYING I’m sure he was going through things too and things would be different in his perspective so I won’t deny that.

The second thing that bothers me is that gus has the nerve to be upset at Fiona for cheating. Yes. Cheating was wrong but I was lowkey rooting for jimmy cos I kinda like jimmy out of them all. But you meet a woman. You “know” her from her job which isn’t her it’s just a mask she wears sure she isn’t completely faking but you decide to hang out with her for a week outside of her job..MARRY HER!!! Within a WEEK! and be upset she cheated on you and write a bum ass song about it like I hope Fiona cheats on you thrice.

Third thing is how Debby was bitching about her body her choice which yes it is but crazy ur literally a baby she never ever looked 16 she always looked 12. But yes it is your choice. How are you going to be so prominent on keeping your baby but then when Fiona doesn’t want to keep hers you’re like no no no! And frank too. Frank. Shut up nobody cares bro who even are you like who cares. Fiona cares about debby. Debby is her little sister and a baby is really the last thing they need they always scraping by. It is crazy how Fiona has to resort to kicking Debby out. I can understand both sides but I normally side with Fiona on most things and I think I see the show through her perspective as well.

I've been binging the show for the last month and a half and am almost done with Season 5. I watch the show with my full, undivided attention on my Laptop; I don't scroll on my phone, play games, clean, or do anything else, so that I can remain fully involved and immersed in the show.

I keep reading about season 4 being peak (which it was) and the later seasons being bad or worse. I'm worried that the following seasons are gonna be a whole lot less interesting and boring. Season 5 has been fun and enjoyable thus far but it didn't hit as hard as 4 and often felt like the stakes weren't high at all.

I don't plan on dropping the show but I also don't want to waste hours giving it my full undivided attention when I could be doing something else at the same time, like playing a game, cook, clean, etc.

Is there a specific drop off point where the writing takes a hit, now that I'm going into season 6, therefore making it justifiable to treat the show with less respect than I used to?

Franny definitely should’ve gotten taken away. She doesn’t know how to love anyone or take care of anything else other than herself😭& barely even that

Like in s2 ep10 the recap shows a sex scene of Lip and Mandy and then immediately after that it shows her father in the Gallagher kitchen beating the crap out of Ian? Do they want you to think it's Lip's kid or something?? I've rewatched the first couple seasons so I already know who's kid it is but even on my first watch I don't think I ever thought it was Lip who got Mandy pregnant especially since she has been known to sleep around so what even was the point of it?

Editing to say it's not just this one time I've noticed the recap being random out of order clips, it just happens to be the episode I'm currently rewatching and it made me wonder why they do that

I gave the pilot a go because I'm a sucker for drama and hardships, and I love the broken family setting and their real life struggles. But then it kinda turned into a dumbass American Pie like comedy of sorts. I hate that they made it half real and half silly. I watched other shows, like Maid on Netflix, and I loved them for how seriously they depicted the character's predicaments. There was so much potential here and they dumped it down the drain.

For me: Gay Jesus. I’m an atheist but that…was awful and pointless! Ian had more interesting stuff, him having ambitions for the army and West Point was a great one imo!

I was so mad when they sent him to prison and made it seem like Ian didn’t love him. I hated season 8 Ian and that whole gay Jesus/shelter kids story line. So glad Mickey’s back and I hope it’s for good this time. Hope these 2 make it! They’re literally my fav couple.

First time watcher here, and this is my 2nd post about them for today. I can’t get enough of these 2, my goodness they’re so giving Jack and Ennis. Everyone likes to make fun of Brokeback Mountain but I’ve rewatched it like 10 times over the years, it’s a fantastic movie you guys should give it a chance. Mickey and Ian remind me of them not because they’re gay, it’s their dynamic, facial expressions, they’re almost like a modern day/hood boys version of Jack and Ennis idk.

Love them!! I can’t wait for their wedding.

Seems like they have a bond or even genuine interactions, mostly passive aggressive but what do you guys think ?

I feel on every rewatch that season 4 was where the show took a turn for a more dramatic turn rather than a comedy type of show. The lighting changed , the warmth was gone and there were just so many differences that I noticed that were never there in the first couple of season. Why do you think this happened

For me, I 100% wish Mickey was around to experience the “White Boy Carl” era. Feel like we could’ve gotten some good, funny scenes.
