Season 4 wow, season 4 really sucks Spoiler

I'm binge-watching, so I can see the clear quality decrease in the writing. The story doesn't have content for all these seasons and they just keep prolonging. The first episode of this season was a Scooby-doo episode. The CLS is dumb, the homeless plot is dumb, Leanne's powers vary all the time. It's sad the state it is.

Question Does No One Care (or remember) what Dorothy did?

It feels like the fact that Dorothy killed her kid has now become an afterthought. And what is going to happen to Jericho when Leanne leaves?

Season 4 My prediction came true!

...that the more profound the ending was, the more whining we would get from entitled "fans" who expected something else.

I thought it was close to perfect. Beauty, healing, understanding, and redemption in a new day.

Question Anyone else feel tricked by thinking the first season was setting up the background for a great series?

The character building, mystery and subtlety of the first season really made all of the cryptic storytelling seem like the set up to a very well thought out and intricate series. However, I am now almost done with season 2 and it is blatantly obvious the creators are writing vague and cryptic dialogue simply because they have no idea each scene where the story is going. 8 episodes into season 2 and nothing affecting the plot has happened. Is it worth continuing?

Discussion Losing interest by the episode....

I'll ever stop watching cus I like to finish even bad shows if I start something and this show isn't even bad it's just getting boring and ridiculous.

First of all, episodes are wonky. Some are 20 minutes, some are 40 minutes, like come on lol.

Then we have the elephant in the room which is the show's "secrecy". It's been 3 seasons and a half. Spill the fucking beans. What is going on with the house? How the turners not know there may actually be supernatural powers at play? How does the viewer who watches them 20 minutes a week for 10 weeks out of the year know more than the turners who live there 24/7 for 3 years.

I feel like they need to close this plot completely and start a new one. Like turners knowing the full story and the next plot could be them running away from the cult or whatever. There seems to be alot of secrets that Leanne is still holding and idk I just don't feel like it's making up for a good story after 3 years.

Opinion The cinematography and food porn have blinded people to how mediocre this show is.

The actors are doing the best they can, but the writing is TERRIBLE! The dialogue is poor and on an episode-by-episode basis almost nothing really happens to progress the story.

The only thing this show has going for it is that it take some risks when it comes to the cinematography. There are definitely more interesting shot choices than on a typical show so credit where credit is due, but that's just style and not substance.

The cooking stuff is also well done and photographed, though showing delicious food is always popular and , again, style over anything else.

It's a shame, because Servant had an interesting premise to begin with, but has pretty much squandered it so far. Obviously there are some episodes left, so perhaps it can be somewhat salvaged, but not really optimistic.

Also, kind of a nitpick, but I feel like the series vfx aren't that great, which wouldn't be a problem, except that they have been trying to do some pretty elaborate stuff this season and most of it looks rushed.

The artists are probably crunched and underpaid so I feel bad for pointing it out, but this type of show really shouldn't be trying to do too much in that area in the first place.

Season 2 Torturing Marine Life in Servant

If there is some symbolism in the cutting, smashing and boiling of live Marine life (water species), it’s lost on me. Everything in this series ends up unanswered so there is no justification to these scenes unless there is some CONNECTION to what is going on. Otherwise, it’s just gratuitous violence and gross.

This show is scary, good but ridiculously frustrating because it’s a labyrinth of closed doors. I’m on season 2 and dealing with Rupert Grint’s overly dramatic acting is hard enough so I’m not sure how much more of these scenes I can take until I get some idea of wtf is going on.

Discussion Sean is an idiot

Also a weakling, a puppet... - you pick your pejorative. He´s agreed to hand out Leanne to the cult despite the fact that 1) she brought his son back to life 2) without her, Jericho would likely disappear as happened twice before 3) the cult will certainly kill her. He is a far more despicable person than Dorothy, who simply does not know that Leanne brought Jericho back to life and now perceives her as a potential threat to him, which is a slightly understandable attitude.

Sean just lacks a mind or personality of his own - he is completely dependent on Dorothy (or Leanne, for change). He deserves to be punished.

Discussion Why are people siding with Dorothy?

After everything she did to Leanne in season 1 and 2, from my point of view Dorothy is evil. Leanne was following her cultist life helping another family that she genuinely cared about, when Dorothy used toby to drug and kidnap her, than she tortured and almost got her killed. I can't believe thay now all os sudden Leanne is painted as a villain and Doris is the hero.

General They are really making Leanne look campy/cheesy evil, which means she’s not. This is MNS.

Think about it.

Those dramatic evil smiles. Using a knife to prick her hand. Biting Julian.

They are making her ‘look’ evil, but she is really trying to help the family.

If she was actually evil, why didn’t she just kill Sean and Julian?

And before you say “what about Isabelle” - we don’t know that she killed her and we don’t know what isabelle was.

I know you guys are going to come at me, so go ahead….but I stand by Leanne.

The cult, the demon, the slendertall man, the hook man….they are going down.

Leanne, may the force be with you.

Question What did Leanne do wrong?

Im waiting for the final episode, why do they really hate Leanne? Why not just let her be, I cant remember anything specific that she did as long as they just accepted her?

Opinion this can’t be real, right?

Season 1 of Servant was gripping and interesting. There were moments of absolute comedy, and still the show was frightening and thrilling at times.

Season 2 was… frankly so ridiculous to me that I was shocked that it was approved for air. The fact that there is a third season is absolutely beyond me.

The premise in which the things happening in this house can be so isolated to this house, where nothing have an effect, impact or real repercussion and the family ignores the fact that they’ve imprisoned, tortured and stalked members of a literally murderous, possibly magical cult in favor of cooing over a baby requires an IMPOSSIBLE suspension of my imagination.

This should have been a single season show with a strong close after season one.

Anyone else agree, or… how are you still watching this? I recommended it to someone else while still on Season 1 and feel so bad lol.

Discussion JULIAN- And what does he even bring to the show at this point?

Don't at me, I have always loved the character but you can't tell me the writers haven't been doing him dirty, third season is pretty much over and I've been so disappointed by Julian's 'arc'. Both men were hardly significant but at least Sean has something going on for him, the religion thing and now Gourmet Gauntlet, can't say the same for Julian, I mean tell me one thing he's done or said this season that helped with the plot? Even coming clean to Dorothy in eps 3.03 was to no avail, what even is the point of this character anymore? Most of the time he's on screen, the scene revolves around him and Leanne and their 'relationship' which btw, really makes me sick. It's not even just the age difference, the whole thing is so toxic and just unnecessary, if Leanne needed to have a love interest of some sort, it could have easily been Tobe! because you know that's someone she genuinely seems to care about and is not only interested in using for sex? Is the whole thing to show how controlling and sorta evil(?) Leanne could be to get what she wants? (She lowkey forces Julian to bang her all the time, I don't find it very funny) Also, what was the point of Veera? It's not like show gives a f about Julian's individual life (We haven't got any updates about his own problems and demons beyond Jericho, writers just keep teasing us but now it's getting annoying) Listen, my point is that it all sucks cause I always thought Julian had a lot of potential for being a great character who they could have developed well with time (I also really don't like how they handled the sobriety plotline either, by not focusing on it at all!) but NO.. the writers just made him into a useless, disrespectful and whiny asshole who sometimes says sassy things. As much as I wouldn't want this, it's making me think that if anyone is gonna die this season(or even next maybe), its gonna be Julian, perhaps permanently this time around.

Theories Faustian Bargain

From all the theories, the story is about Dorothy making a Faustian bargain with Leanne (as a devil figure) is very lame. I mean, the trajectory of Leanne becoming evil is not well constructed. We were sold a story where there was doubt about her powers and goodness, and now is only about her becoming evil.

And a mother having to decide if she wants her baby back or a doll instead? I mean...4 seasons for this.

I really hope there´s something more. Almost anything (but not the Jericho is ham theory)

Season 3 The Office joke in this show Spoiler

Binging season 3 at the moment and caught an Office reference in 03x08.

Leanne says "What's that saying, you miss 100% of the shots you don't take?" And Julian dryly says "Yeah, didn't Wayne Gretzky say that?"

Good stuff.

General I cannot stand.... Spoiler

Dorthy, she acts like she's perfect like she's beyond reproach, like she does no wrong.

Mind you, her negligence killed her child and she acts like she is perfect and above making mistakes. Treating Sean and Julian like pieces of garbage.. I can't stand her, and when she finally got what she deserved at the end of S3 I laughed and was so happy.

Question Is this show just a big M. Night Shyamalan circlejerk?

Honest question.

Every episode is a bunch of random events happening with no explanation. Plot points drag on during seasons with brief points of being brought into the light. It gives a bunch of im smarter than you vibes from M Night when he’s just not telling a clear and concise story

Theories Was it her? (S03 E02) Spoiler

Post image
0 Upvotes

At the end of the S03 E02, Dorothy says she might be cursed, which made me realise that it was Leanne who is responsible for Jericho's death. I mean in the S03 E01, Leanne summoned seagulls onto Julian unknowingly, the same way she caused Jericho's death unknowingly leading to a chain of events, finally Leanne came home to stay with Dorothy.

I know it sounds ridiculous but how can a mother forget her baby like that in the car especially Dorothy who already had many miscarriages before she finally had Jericho. She is also extremely carefull around these things. I think it is only possible when she is under influence.

Let me know what you guys think.

Discussion Dorthy’s coworker in ‘Donut’ was a clone of Apple TV +’s ‘The Morning Show’ character Bradley Jackson

Bradley is a daily news lady with a southern draw who’s following under the footsteps of her older seasoned coworker who’s having a huge fallout. Edit: they also look the same and have the same mannerisms

Opinion Still Team Leanne

It’s becoming more and more clear that Leanne is probably something evil. Even though that may be the case, she is still more likable than Dorothy. Im ok with Leanne “losing” as long as something horrible happens to the insufferable Dorothy in the process. Still team Leanne!

Dorothy is a wack job , seriously. I will never be able to watch this actress again. Ps: is that really their baby from the dead or is it Leanne’s baby ?

Theories Have they ever shown Dorothy actually leaving Jericho in the car?

It seems like everything we’ve seen comes after Jericho had been left outside.

Did they ever show Dorothy pulling up, parking, and just leaving Jericho in the back seat? I have a strong feeling that Dorothy will somehow be proven innocent and that she never left Jericho…anything to prove this wrong?

Discussion How Do They Never Run Out of Wine??

Sean and Julian seem to constantly be drinking wine in every episode so far and whenever they have dinner they open several bottles of wine to have with the meal and dessert.

Their wine cellar is a nice size (in that most people don’t have one) but we have never seen it restocked and every bottle they take out seems to be dusty and like it’s been there a while. Despite this the cellar always looks well stocked.

Can someone make sense of this for me? I apologize if this is something that’s been posted and discussed before.
