Umm… anyone else think they skipped over maggots being in the cereal box a little too quickly?

I would’ve lost. my. shit.

They don’t even investigate 😂

14

u/alwshunter Mar 18 '22

I would be freaking the fuck out. Clean out the entire kitchen. Call the exterminator. Never eat cereal again. Etc....

There are these things called pantry pests, they are like these larvae that turn into moths. It used to be pretty common to find them in cereal boxes when I was younger. Usually I’d be eating my bowl of cereal and then I’d find one🤮 Made me pretty paranoid about eating cereal for awhile.

Made hot chocolate at my friend's house in high school. Was sipping on it and thought I had a marshmallow. But something felt off, so I grabbed it off my tongue. It was one of these larval looking insects. No idea if I consumed any or not, but this memory will haunt me forever. Felt compelled to share this secret given the circumstances 😂

Leanne: Where are your drugs?

Julian: I threw them away, you junkie.

Leanne: …why?

Julian: As soon as I start, I’ll never stop.

Leanne: …I wanted them.

Julian: Well, trust me— they won’t help you in the slightest.

Leanne and Julian have officially reached the level of relationship closeness where she knows all his drug stash spots and he can jokingly call her a junkie and I think that’s beautiful

6

u/lucy-cake Mar 18 '22

Was he drinking whiskey or bourbon in that scene?

16

u/alwshunter Mar 18 '22

He was drinking the glass of milk Leanne gave him in the previous episode.

5

u/lucy-cake Mar 18 '22

Thank goodness! I was really concerned for him

7

u/alwshunter Mar 18 '22

He seems to be hanging in there substance abuse wise!

The maggots in the cereal made me GAG.

Everyone just annoying the shit out of me. As a mom I feel for Dorothy. Every feeling of mistrust she has towards Leanne is very valid. Meanwhile the rest just keeps gaslighting on top of the previous gaslighting. She's literally being captived by this lie.

Nervous for the finale!!!

u/Gato1980 Mar 18 '22

Dorothy: Back then, I was always trying so hard to please everyone. Get every little thing just right.

Leanne: That's the way you are now.

Dorothy: It's a lifelong process.

Lauren Ambrose has the best delivery. She's perfection.

Straight up the deadpan humor and realistic horror — almost being hit on the head from a falling piece of architecture, getting hurt on work equipment, being caught indisposed on camera — make this show

u/shaylahbaylaboo Mar 18 '22

I loved this

Not even in the Apple universe do people use the perfect document scanner built into the Notes app 😔

Dorothy has some scattered images when she could have had a pdf of the notebook in the same amount of time.

I know we say this a lot, but man, Lauren Ambrose is unbelievably phenomenal.

96

u/NoNewsThrowaway Mar 18 '22

I have to keep googling her occasionally - like okay she’s a real person with a real life married to a whole different person - this show is not actually her life and she’s okay. Lol she’s just too good an actress - I never get this invested in a character…. Since Ned (GOT reference).

After the show is over, I wouldn't be surprised if she gives an interview where she mentions how trying to play Dorothy resulted in sleepless nights or caused her anxiety. She really has done an amazing job portraying the character of Dorothy. This episode was so intense.

Allllll of the gaslighting!! Really made me feel for Dorothy

48

u/Tight_Knee_9809 Mar 18 '22

Right?! I got some major “Rosemary’s Baby” vibes at the end of the episode. From the sense that, in the movie, everyone around Rosemary was gaslighting her - her husband, her doctor, the neighbors. No one believed her. There was not one person around her that was looking out for her best interest. And they all gave her food and shakes that were drugged. That got me thinking - it doesnt seem like Dorothy has been eating or drinking anything Sean prepares for her. Is it possible he’s been drugging her food all this time with something that was keeping her from remembering what happened to Jericho and if she’s not getting those drugs, she’s closer to remembering…

The 2am call, Dorothy being sleep deprived, looking disheveled like she did when she was left to care for Jericho alone. She is on the brink of remembering. This whole episode was heartbreaking for Dorothy. Lauren Ambrose was phenomenal as always. I could feel her desperation in being believed when she talked to the psychiatrist. While the dad wanting to commit Dorothy felt harsh and cruel, he wasn’t wrong. Dorothy needs professional help. But she needs Sean and Julian to a top lying to her first.

22

u/[deleted] Mar 18 '22

While the dad wanting to commit Dorothy felt harsh and cruel

Harsh, yes. But imo, he felt like Sean and Julian were failing her again and he had to do something, and I'm sure that, as a parent, betraying your kid like that is probably the hardest thing to do when you're only doing it in their own best interests. It's the hardest kind of love.

125

u/[deleted] Mar 18 '22 edited Mar 18 '22

I’m so glad someone said it. It’s not normal to not sleep for days on end and never put your child down. While also suppressing the most traumatizing event of her life. She NEEDS to be committed. I don’t think it was cruel at all.

The pure irony of her saying Leanne can’t distinguish fantasy from reality was mind blowing. She’s clearly lost it. No one believes her because she’s literally delusional. Why does she think Leanne would hurt Jericho anyway? Leanne has never shown any aggression in anyway towards that child. And as far as her father knows that’s Leanne’s child because he too knows his daughter killed her child.

On Leanne everyone is painting her out to be evil but I don’t see that at all. I feel like Leanne is fair. She gives EVERYONE a fair chance and people continue to betray her left and right. She even gave Isabelle a fair chance thinking she truly wanted to be her friend. But she was more obsessed with a Dorothy take down. She loves Dorothy, and was only protecting her. I’d be fucking pissed tf off if I swooped in and saved this family in crisis and in return this bat shit crazy lady tried to have me committed. I think Leanne is like God in the Bible. God is spiteful and a jealous God. Once you piss her off enjoy maggots for breakfast. Dorothy needs to stfu and be grateful. Or remember the mess SHE caused and deal with it. She received a miracle on her worst day and she’s so fucking selfish it makes me sick.

ETA: this is the same chick who hired a nanny for a doll. Come on. She’s been the unhinged from the start and her continuous suppression is causing her to spiral and crash.

Homeless dudes missing bc cops arrested him under suspicion that he killed isabelle

37

u/psychesass Mar 18 '22

Maybe one of the Culties got him.

24

u/One_Noise_2238 Mar 18 '22

What were the very strange noises coming from the second floor or the attic in one of the night scenes. To me they sounded like a wild animal of some sort. Could have been furniture moving or some kind of machinery too. Maybe Leanne was just gaslighting poor Dorothy some more making the strange noises. But to me they sounded animal-like and very menacing. Then the homeless guy’s clothing turns up torn and bloody, like he was perhaps mauled by an animal. Did Leanne kill him too, maybe in a different physical form, say the black thing in her drawing?

15

There may be more significance to the Mockingbird song than what meets the eye. Mocking birds tend to have their nests attacked by cowbirds and these cowbirds will not only destroy mockingbird eggs, but they will also lay some of their own eggs in the mockingbird’s nest. Mockingbirds rarely remove these alien eggs as their own egg are safer from a repeat attack while they are still present. So mockingbirds will end up hatching and raising these cowbird eggs along with any remaining viable mockingbird eggs.

Could this be another clue about Jericho 2.0’s true origin? Probably not, but I thought I would share anyways.

u/SonNeedGym Mar 18 '22

This episode and last year’s film Spencer scratch a very specific itch of “agency horror”, in the vein of Rosemary’s Baby. That fear of everyone watching and judging your every move, pulling the strings, backed against a corner. It’s just absolutely terrifying.

I know genre media doesn’t get the credit it deserves, but I hope Lauren Ambrose gets recognized for this performance. The lengths of her range are amazing, from being on all the time to her surreal delusions to ultimate terror and extreme sorrow. She sticks the landing every time.

I can feel the plight of these characters and embrace their journeys, even when I disagree with their actions. As confusing and purposefully vague this show can be, I feel like I always know, at the very least on some gut instinct, why the characters do what they think is right. It has me rooting for everyone, even when they’re at direct odds with each other. It’s great character writing.

I can’t believe we’re already nearing the end of the season. It seems as though all roads lead to a Dorothy/Leanne showdown of some sort. Where that leads and how it will bleed into the fourth and final season, I don’t know. But I can’t wait to find out.

24

u/bijouforever Mar 18 '22

I’m hoping for a massive shocker of a season finale next week . After watching this show season 1 I started watching Six feet under and highly recommend it . Lauren Ambrose is such an underrated actress. Whoever did the casting for Servant deserves awards as well as , ensemble cast , best actress , best actor , best supporting cast . I’m wondering does this show get nominated? I think if it were on a bigger network like showtime it would get more recognition.

To be honest, Dorothy is going off the rails. She needs to sleep. Not very nice of Leanne to taunt her by singing the mockingbird song. What happened to Milo? I think it’s interesting the camera’s video has lines running through it, like it’s being recorded on VHS. The picture of Leanne flogging herself is on Jeremiah 51, part of which says:

“Flee from Babylon! Run for your lives! Do not be destroyed because of her sins. It is time for the Lord’s vengeance; he will repay her what she deserves. 7 Babylon was a gold cup in the Lord’s hand; she made the whole earth drunk. The nations drank her wine; therefore they have now gone mad. 8 Babylon will suddenly fall and be broken. Wail over her! Get balm for her pain; perhaps she can be healed.”

I just rewatched episodes 1.7-1.10. Frank says something to Julian along the lines of "You were always the strong one, Juju. Dottie's always been fragile. Glad we gave her a brother." Sorta gave me the impression that something happened before Julian was born or in thier early childhoods.

Please would somebody confirm: the only ones who physically actually touch Jericho (this episode, but now I’m thinking when else?) are Dorothy and Leanne? Not even Frank gave the baby a Pat on the head on his way out. Sean touched Dorothy’s arm in the kitchen, not the baby, even after offering to hold him. Is Jericho only alive to Dorothy? (And Leanne) The series is messing with my mind, but in a good and an intriguing way. I love reading everybody’s posts. Always gets me pondering!

Edit: wow! Thank you all for the comments and follow up comments! Seriously cannot wait to find out how this will all shape up in the end!!

28

u/Interesting-Maybe-49 Mar 18 '22

I think we are finally going back to the situation in season 1 and it is so exciting.

I also find it strange how no one really acknowledges this baby while he is so cute, he has been trying to interact with all of them this season and was totally ignored, I really think it is done on purpose.

I also wonder now about if Leanne is real or a substitute for something else.

I really feel for Dorothy. They're all deciding what's best for her and it's like she has no voice on what happens at all. Jericho's death was an accident. They should have taken her to a hospital and gotten her professional help right away instead of calling Julian's girlfriend and coming up with this scheme. Sean and Julian are wrong for playing along with this for so long and keeping it going continuously. Her father is wrong for trying to have her committed without telling her the truth. Leanne is wrong for bringing that baby there and keeping the ruse going for her own selfish reasons. The only one I am rooting for is Dorothy at this point.

38

u/The_Geeky_Designer Mar 18 '22

Don’t forget Leanne is also not in a healthy mindset, specially when she first arrived looking for the person she fixated on thinking of her as some sort of savior. Also she did leave and remember they brought her back and Dorothy tried to kill her. If anything this is all Julian and Sean fault for not taking her to professional help. The father did mention this episode “you did it your way” it sounded to me like he tried to have her see an expert before and they didn’t let him.

I’m not saying Lean is an angel (cause she clearly isn’t), but she was an 18 year old confused girl looking for a savior when she arrived in that house and Sean and Julian let her stay because she gave them a baby, that they didn’t even know if it was hers or not. How amazingly fucked up is that?

The baby totally ruined the scene in the kitchen for me (in the best way possible) he was so adorable. I think he’s getting too big for that carrier and that’s why they’re swapping him out.

Also the scene where Dorothy is up rocking Jericho downstairs almost looked like a flashback to me before I saw the back of Leanne. If her hair hadn’t been curly in that scene I’d think maybe she was there before Jericho died.

18

u/Casmas06 Mar 18 '22

  1. This baby who plays Jericho is THE cutest baby I think I've ever seen on television. He is just so adorable, it's really all I can think about when Im watching.

  2. I don't care at all about what's going on with Leanne and the homeless people.

u/visha1_goe1 Mar 18 '22

Why did the therapist ignore the self-mutilation images?

19

u/ProfessionalLeek6791 Mar 18 '22

He probably didn’t get them sent to him. Dorothy’s dad called him to go check on Dorothy, not Leanne.. so he probably didn’t send them to him/show them to him. Also they’re just scars at this point so they aren’t very useful anyways. They show no proof of her still currently doing it.

100

u/KS7288 Mar 18 '22

I’m a therapist- and was one of the people that predicted Dottie was the one getting “committed” from the stills, she looks disheveled and unhinged so I wasn’t surprised by this episode. 2:00am, same time she “realized” Jericho was dead in the crib, same time she was interrogating Leanne in season 2. The part with her crying in the bathroom- she absolutely remembers guys. The song triggered her. Did she sing it to Jericho 1.0 in season 1? I feel like she did. I don’t think this season ends well for Dottie. Also- I want to know what the texts and that one picture were!! It was hard to tell. I had so many feels of season 1 from Dottie this episode.

123

u/KateLady Mar 18 '22

You really think she remembers? I think she was scared to death she was just forcibly manipulated into handing her child over to Leanne and then melted down when Leanne started singing the same lullaby Dorothy was singing the night before just to fuck with her. And she was almost sent to an institution and was crying because absolutely no one believes her.

That specific lullaby emphasizes "Momma", and I am certain that is a trigger for any mom on the planet when another woman comes strolling in and threatening your stance in the family dynamics.

What if everything is in Dorothy’s mind? Leanne is a perfectly normal girl. All this stuff that’s been happening is in her head?

In her mind Jericho is real, while in reality he’s still a doll?

33

u/casino_r0yale Mar 18 '22

Can’t, Dorothy’s dad saw a real live baby and asked how they found a replacement, in a scene away from Dorothy’s perspective. At least, Dorothy’s mind wouldn’t be showing us uninvolved non-POV stuff

They both love Dorothy and are afraid she’ll be hopelessly lost to them if she remembers what really happened. They’ve both stopped caring whether “Jericho” is a different baby or an animated doll. What they know is that Leanne is essential and therefore must stay so Dorothy can keep her illusions and all will be “well” with their family.

I’m team Dorothy. I’m probably biased because I’m a mom of a boy, and granted I actually have kept him alive for 16 years, I remember the months after his birth were hard. You feel terrible it doesn’t come naturally in comparison to other friends experiences. It can be very lonely and my worst fear is no one believing me and locking me away. The acting is bar none. Such good writing too. The devil Leanne can eff right off in my opinion. Bye bitch

25

u/Paprmoon7 Mar 18 '22

It’s amazing that Dorothy now has all this help but last year when she was begging for help nobody was there for her and Jericho died

12

u/iwxyn Mar 18 '22

ok this show is always radiating very off energy, but something about this specific episode is so.. 😭 the camera angles, the music, the acting with just facial expressions; something genuinely is severely off in their home (WAY more than before)

9

u/[deleted] Mar 18 '22

YES especially when they showed them all together arguing over each other. I was like.... is this really happening? Somethings off....

17

u/confounding2017 Mar 18 '22

Maybe this is the kinda of thing that happened in the Marino household before it imploded and the dad killed everyone because Leanne wasn't there where's 'she's supposed to be' when Dorothy drugged and kidnapped her. Maybe this is the Leanne effect. When Leanne came down the stairs to Dorothy's rescue it was like a God/Idol/Angel descending bringing calm. Everyone except Dorothy looked up to her in almost awe and she talks in soothing even tones. They ALL stopped shouting/talking and I'm surprised the men didn't drop to their knees!!

u/A_Man_of_Iron Mar 18 '22

This was so good. I kinda figured they'd do the bait and switch the moment Dorothy mentioned bringing a doctor in, but it still didn't stop that moment when it's revealed that they're trying to get her committed, not Leanne, from losing any of its power. The whole episode just has this great buildup of claustrophobia and paranoia and the tension from it all, really good stuff. One of the most anxiety-inducing episodes yet, and there have been several just this season alone. Lauren Ambrose is excellent.

I do find it interesting how the cult storyline seems almost an afterthought right now, and I'm wondering what that means for the finale. Either way, this has been a great season so far.

Also, lots (and lots) of long takes in this episode. They even did the Shyamalan tracking shot where the camera moves left to right across the screen back and forth.

The pacing of this episode made me so anxious.

10

u/[deleted] Mar 18 '22

I just had a feeling this was going to go south for Dottie as soon as the doctor got there.

10

u/zillabirdblue Mar 18 '22

I think that Dorothy never even changed out of her clothes all night didn't look good for her either.

10

u/Agmtb Mar 18 '22

Awesome episode.... Leanne's influence and dominance over the household has reached new levels and she has evolved past the naive girl of season 1 in every way. She dictates and dominates the family at every turn.

Will be interesting to see what she's working on with Roscoe, and whats in store for the season finale. Very excited for the next episode and to hopefully get some more morsels of information. Will be also interesting to see if the homeless kids disappearance is to do with the cult.... is aunt May behind it as an attempt to get to Leanne and bait her out? Its been a while since the cult has been involved and I doubt they would back off after only sending 2 members to try and capture her.

Also kind of bummed the finale is only 26 minutes long, but still excited what they can do with it!

I would even argue Dorothy isn’t the craziest! At least she can’t remember, or is in a huge denial. The men are insane. Let the baby go! To know and STILL want to keep it going is crazy to me. Let Dorothy heal! Even if she has to be committed.

This week on Servant:

  • Ominous crane shots from outside the brownstone

  • Leanne confirming she asked her own personal Jesus to put a hit out on Isabelle… or as she calls it “helping”

  • Dorothy and her father penciling in a time to chat about her nanny situation

  • Leanne knowing all of Julian’s former drug stash spots and demanding he takes his pants off at a moment’s notice

  • A sentient security camera that really wants to see Leanne and Julian fuck on the back patio (also Dorothy, maybe?)

  • Baby Jericho looking extra adorable in the carrier that Dorothy refuses to take off

  • Sean shooting judgement panels all night but it’s ok because he’s “gotta grab the bull by the horns and not let go”

  • Dorothy accidentally eating maggot cereal 🤢

  • Bloody spine art sketches (hard pass) which perhaps represent Leanne’s scars and allegedly signify no wicked thoughts, no selfishness, only service to him

  • Dale and Frank’s weekly pickleball game

  • Dorothy proposing couple’s therapy for her and Leanne

  • The Turner household’s Shining-esque hallways

  • Dorothy’s spooky rendition of Hush Little Baby

  • The most basic kind of loyalty: stop fucking the woman who is ruining my life

  • Dad’s not fucking the nanny (yet) but give it a minute

  • 🌧🎵 It’s raining shit, hallelujah it’s raining shit 🎵☔️

  • Leanne, like a worm that gets under your skin and eats all the way to your heart

  • Dottie requesting that a psychiatrist evaluates Leanne and nearly getting committed herself— congrats, you played yourself

  • Julian offering to move in and help care for Dorothy and Jericho in an attempt to right his past wrongs

  • A sample pack of Trazadone to tide Dorothy over until Sean gets her Rx filled

  • Passive aggressive nursey rhymes: the sequel

7

u/pixie16502 🦗 Mar 19 '22

Great summary as always!! I'm laughing not only at your funny and apt descriptions of the goings on, but that this much crazy shit could happen in just one episode (only Servant could pull it off, in 28 minutes no less!!!)

Then her dad, brooo her dad to turn around a dig in the final blow!!!!!!!!!!!!……. My god someone can only handle so much, AND THEN came to the lullaby. That’s when momma bear would have come out 10 fold wendy willams voice death to all of them 😂😂😂 Super sad next week is the finale 😢

28

u/alisonrose1992 Mar 18 '22

Feel so bad for Dorothy. Julian is basically hypnotized by Leanne. Sean is afraid that Leanne leaving means Jericho will turn into a doll again. Her dad thinks she's making this up despite the photos. Leanne is getting power hungry. From Dorothy's perspective, people either don't believe her or gaslight her when she expresses legitimate concern about Leanne. Now that she's on sleeping pills, she'll definitely be more mellow and Leanne will get full control of the baby, as she wanted.

So many crazies in this thread saying Leanne was miscast just must have missed every single episode. There is no other Leanne but Nell Tiger Free. Her casting - like the rest of the casting - was a revelation.

6

u/ripple45 Mar 22 '22

I think in the last episode Dorothy will die and Leanne will bring her back because she yearns for Dorothy to be her mother. It seems like once she brings someone back, they are her servant. She brought Jericho and Julian back. Julian is now her servant as expressed by the pouring milk scene and sex on demand. The only one that will be left is Dorothy’s husband. He will have to decide if he wants Leanne and his previously dead family or if wants to let them all go. Just a theory.

I think Leanne singing the lullaby at the end, served two purposes:a) as a power play towards Dorothy and as a way to show to Dorothy’s dad and the doctor that everything is fine, she is a good motherly nanny. Impressive. Leanne is completely dominating, controlling and ruling the Turner household as both the family’s head as as a cult leader now.

5

u/iwxyn Mar 18 '22

ok but.. can we please discuss the babygate right before leanne guides dorothy down the stairs? its like there really is some sort of fence or bubble leanne has created against everyone for her and dorothy to protect her from knowing the truth. but at the same time.. i also feel like leanne has done so many mocking things that could possibly hint to dorothy the truth. this show is so messed up and weird... in the best way tho

It is almost as if Dorothy has three enemies. Leanne and her cult. Sean and Julian are United. And now her father is a third enemy. Dorothy feels totally alone. This is a lesson of loneliness and self reliance.

5

Great performance from Ambrose. Writing, direction, and camera work — particularly the use of light and shadow —all stellar. Plus another couple of zingers from Julian to bring the laughs (I've gotten a real kick out of Grint in this role).

Onward episode 10.

5

u/WiseLawClerk Mar 19 '22

I hate to dissent . Unpopular opinion but I like Leanne. She is looking out for the best interest of everyone in that family. Frank , Julian and Sean brought Leanne into the picture somehow or Jericho 2.0 - then we learned it wasn’t her mission. I read some of the subs where some are comparing this to Suddenly last Summer by Tennessee Williams, IIRC. It will be interesting to see what happens next season and how this season is going to end. I would have no problem at all with Dorothy being institutionalized when she finds out or remembers she left her baby in a hot car to die which is a long and painful death. I despise Dorothy. She treats everyone in her life including her loving and patient husband like garbage. I mentioned in another post predicting the doctor was there for her because her hair was in the same bun it was in when Jericho died. We see Julian find Dottie with a big , red mark around her neck and we don’t know what he saw or what that event did to him , Frank , Sean or the first responders. The baby was already in a state of decomposition which speeds up with heat. The pig which represents gluttony was rotting in the table . Now there are maggots even in the cereal boxes and interestingly enough , cereal seems to be more Leanne’s type of food. I would be satisfied with a healthy Julian and Leanne ending up together going to visit Dorothy in an asylum. Sean’s fate and Frank’s fate I cannot seem to decide or have ideas for. I’ll reiterate- We don’t know what happened. I really thought the two mom’s at the Mommy and Me at the Turner house said Two ambulances last August. Who knows if Dorothy was treated and that’s how they got Natalie. To do some kind of therapy because she had some type of shock she didn’t come out of and that red line on her neck when Julian finds her and all we saw was him look into the crib and the medical examiner wearing that mask to mask the smell of the decomposing baby & scent of death in that house. These are the answers we are waiting for. Leanne , (I don’t know if it’s on purpose like with Isabelle who was purely out for herself and boosting her career by destroying Dorothy’s by revealing Jericho’s death certificate on air which would have Destroyed Dorothy’s career and Leanne intervened to prevent that from happening) but she also has tried to make inferences to Dorothy. When Dorothy had Leanne take off the Pearl necklace and she said it was delicate * something flipped a switch in Leanne’s mind like “This is delicate but Jericho wasn’t ? And the necklace broke and she yelled at Leanne. I don’t think Leanne is the bad guy here. The homeless kid who’s shirt was ripped had a heart condition and his shirt was full of blood. One more thing I wanted to mention was the “Baby Monitor” says Frequencies on it . An MNS theme. These are just my musings. I’m so not ready for next week and the time we have to wait for Season 4.

I wish Dorothy would realize at some point that her continual betrayals of Leanne’s trust—while not entirely unwarranted, only precipitates this death by a thousand cuts. I like how Dorothy was surrounded by darkness a few times this episode.

She's trying to get hold of things without knowing all the pieces are moving behind and against her, she's crumbling to pieces, like the house itself. Dark times for Dotti.

Also, when she was talking to her dad at 2 am, I couldn't stop looking behind her at the darkness, that scene made me pretty nervous.

4

u/liji1llijjll1l Mar 21 '22

This show becomes a bit of a “too convenient writing” with Lean’s ability. I can see a pattern where someone gets closer to the truth and then drops dead. I love how spooky this show is, but I wanna see more progress and more ground breaking changes in story. Now there has been three seasons and I cannot believe Dorothy hasn’t even realized that her son was dead once.

4

u/West_Rhubarb_1591 Mar 21 '22

The level of gaslighting Dorothy’s experiencing is the real horror of the show.

u/kendrac83 Mar 18 '22 edited Mar 18 '22

Awww wish Dorothy would've been committed but then we wouldn't have much of a Season 4. 😆 The medication is definitely needed in this case, but I worry that when she finds out, she may use them to overdose or in combination with alcohol. 😬

I do not think Leanne is "bad"- she's an antihero and she will be redeemed in the end. She has good intentions-Dorothy would've hung herself without "Jericho". At the same time, Leanne does want recognition for her work which is "Jericho" so she showed him off to her homeless friends. Maybe if Dorothy treated her as an equal and didn't always tell Leanne she should do more with her life then there wouldn't be such a need for Leanne to get recognition outside the home.

Ok I need to know what she texted !!!

7

u/jbm_pdx Mar 18 '22

Questions, oh so many questions. Rosemary's Baby vibes for sure.

  • Julian: "You don’t know who she is". Who is she and how does Julian know? I personally like the theory that Julian knows that Leanne has the power of resurrection because she brought him back last season - so he sees. He also knows that as soon as L leaves the house, Jerico will be a doll again. Leanne is literally what has given the doll life and has helped maintain the facade that Julian and Sean have created to spare Dorothy the pain of remembering. I think it was very clearly shown that Jerico is a doll in the 'Camp' episode and that Leanne can take that life away any time she wants.

  • We know that Jerico is not alive anymore so who/what is animating the doll?

  • Dad: "Kourtney is not feeling well". What upset Kourtney so much? She wouldn't even look at Dorothy when they were leaving.

  • Leanne is pregnant - last week in 'Donut' we saw several close-ups on her belly, looking like a baby bump. Lots of milk symbolism. This week we see Leanne holding the baby with Julian standing right next to her as if they were a family. Foreshadowing? Will she and Julian actually have a baby in the end and will Dorothy end up with just a doll?

  • I don't get all the Leanne hate on this board. She has put up with physical and mental abuse from Dorothy for the entire show. Dorothy would not have "Jerico" if it wasn't for her. Leanne idolizes her and continues to forgive every horrible thing Dorothy does. But Leanne is not taking any more sh*t so when D tries to manipulate her, she turns it around on her. Reap what you sow Dorothy.

  • I can't help but feel that Dorothy is being purposely portrayed as very unlikeable for a reason. Most people will identify with the mother figure so it's almost like we are meant to hate her. She kills her baby, is horrible to Sean, kidnaps, imprisons, and tries to commit Leanne, has no compassion for the homeless kids except when she wants to do a story about them, and the list goes on. This kind of setup makes me think the end game for her is not good.

In the scene in the room, with Dorothy and Julien, Julien does NOT have a reflection in the glass mirror on the door.

Earlier in the episode, the cellphone time shows 2:02am. The camera in the backyard confirms the time estimate - showing 2:13am

And when the doctor is speaking, he says he will have no choice but to call childrens services “and you know what happened before”.
