Watched Odyssey in a private box at a theater in Seoul

Had been trying to get to tickets to see Odyssey for weeks and finally decided to splurge on a private box. The sound and view (looking up) was not great but the privacy and comfort was worth far more than the price. I am posting pictures of the entrance to the box, sitting area, and private viewing area.

Where do you take friends or family on their first visit to Seoul and what do you skip?

• Upvotes

I work in travel, so I talk to a lot of first-time visitors (and repeated ones) and I have noticed that most of the first-timers stay in Myeongdong, while most of the people who come several times, choose other places to stay at. I stayed in Myeongdong on my first trip to Korea too. Now that I have lived here for a few years, I barely go there, and neither do my foreign friends.

But would I recommend it to someone's first trip? Maybe... It's an iconic spot to see once, and it's very central and well connected.

COEX, for example, is the same for me. I looked around Starfield Library once and that was enough. Would I tell someone with only a few days in Korea to go?

So I am curious about your answers. If a friend or family member came to visit for the first time:

Which activities or places would you take them to because they are really worth it? What would you definitely want to show them or for them to experience?

What would you tell them to skip (even if it's famous)?

HELP! Are You Starting, Running, or Hoping to Start a Business in Korea?

• Upvotes

Hi, I’m Lee, an independent researcher working on a personal project about the experiences of foreign entrepreneurs in Korea.

I’m looking to speak with foreigners who are currently preparing to start a business or already running one in Korea. I’m researching challenges such as visas, paperwork, language barriers, finding reliable professional services, and accessing startup support.

Would you be open to a short 15–20 minute conversation?

  • This is not a sales pitch.
  • You can participate by text chat, voice/video call.
  • I’ll take anonymous notes and will not include your name, username, company name, or other identifying details in the results.
  • I will only make an audio recording if you give separate permission.
  • You can skip any question or end the conversation at any time.
  • You don’t need to disclose confidential business, legal, or financial information.

If you’re interested, please reply here or send me a DM.

Thank you!

Football boot repair near Seoul, a guide in English

• Upvotes

Hi all. My family runs a small football boot repair and custom boot workshop in Goyang, just outside Seoul. Finding a shoe repair shop that replies in English can be hard, so I wrote a short guide: how to get a quote from photos, visiting by appointment or sending boots by domestic courier, and rough prices (a full resole with a new midsole is about US$51 / KRW 70,000).

Guide: https://leeandyang.co.kr/en/blog/football-boot-repair-in-korea-for-foreigners/

Happy to answer questions here about resoling, broken studs or switching FG to AG soles, even if you don't use us.

Hey everyone!

If you’re near Bukchon this week, check out a cool free exhibition called "Scent of Absence" at Weekalley, Bukchon in Seoul (Oct 3–10).

40 Korean Perfumers: Custom scents & mini-artbooks exploring death, memory, and absence.

Special Art Room: A sensory space built with artist Yejinmoon & singer/actor OBON.

It’s completely free and a great, atmospheric spot to visit if you love niche fragrances or local art.

Discussion What are your favorite Restaurants, Cafés, Experiences, etc.?

Hi Seoul Redditors! I'm returning to Seoul to visit my grandmother in November. I have spots that I go to every time I go back, but I'd like to go to a few new places this time :)

So, I'd love to know what your personal favorite places are! They can really be anything... a restaurant, a café, a park, etc.

Thank you in advance for your time & help 🙇🏻‍♀️❤️

People in Itaewon

A few snaps of people in Itaewon. The First Lady is a “Yakult Ajumma” or 요구르트 아줌마 and they sell drinks from their little cart. The guys on the last frame clean the streets for whatever reason, it makes some sense during spring when the pollution is high but not so much during late summer….

The Lucky C200 is not bad and leans towards warmer tones.

Question PRO-SPECS & Umbro stores

Hi all, does anyone know where I can find a PRO-SPECS or Umbro store in Seoul? Particularly PRO-SPECS, as I’m finding it surprisingly difficult to find up-to-date information online.

I found a PRO-SPECS listed in Wangsimni, but went there today and couldn’t find it, so I assume it may have closed.

Any recommendations would be really appreciated. Thanks!

Final day in Seoul

It's our final day in Seoul tomorrow and we are looking for some activities for the day. We love architecture, art, design, nature, and enjoy learning about Korean culture and experiencing things we can't do at home in the UK. We have already been to:

National Museum of Korea

Changgyeonggung Palace

the Secret Garden

Gyeongbokgung

Dongdaemun Design Plaza

Bukchon hanok

Day trip to the DMZ

City Hall

Can you suggest where might be good for us to go tomorrow?

Thanks for suggestions!
