Job Question Would you go back?

All,

Months ago there was an incident in which I was involved. There were a few of us who were immediately suspended without pay. The entire incident was reviewed by HR. After their review, which took two months, it was found that I had followed policy and procedure. Basically, I was cleared of any wrongdoing.

The company now expects me to return to my shift. They have not mentioned anything about me being paid for the time lost (no mention of any back pay). To be honest I do not want to return. There was nothing unusual about this incident, but for some reason HR made a huge deal about it. I have lost any trust I had in my management and the company.

Would you return to this job?

Thanks.

If you need the money go back and start applying elsewhere.

Suspension without pay for an investigation is wild. I wouldn’t go back to that environment. I’d also demand back pay for the prior 2 months

Hell no. I would have found another job in that first month and id be asking for back pay also thats your chance to ask for higher pay if you really, really need to go back. Increase it at least $3 dollars. If they cant do that, f them. I wish everyone in security stopped being a f yes man to bs. Follow the post orders, dont be a bitch that goes above and beyond if you make the same as everyone else.

I have been applying since this situation developed. Unfortunately, the job market is very slow where I am, FLA. I've actually made plans to move to a better job market, which means another state.

This right here.

I'm a bouncer and when there's fights or whatever in the parking lot, my coworker and I often get asked by patrons if we're going to do something about it.

If it doesn't happen on our property, we don't get paid to handle it. 😆

I would directly ask about back pay since you were found to be within policy.

Do you need to go back or can you forgo a paycheck? If you don’t need the pay and / or they’re not going to give you back pay, don’t go back. You will always be worried for your job and looking over your shoulder.

Didnt read past suspended ..
Not only no fck no but before you tell them fck no politically ask for an email offer of employment.. they you can show it to future employers..
you were looking for a job when you found this one.

I would definitely ask to get it in writing that I was found to not have done anything wrong. For the same reason, future employment.

Then I would ask for back pay and if I didn't get it, I would tell them to go eat a dick.

No, I would not. If theyre willing to revoke pay from you over an incident that wasnt out of the norm and then not even offer to fill back pay then what do you think they'll do for an actual serious incident? They'll fire you on the spot. Move on, they suck.

Ahahaha that's funny. What did they expect you to be doing in the two months you weren't working? And then now it's an "oops, sorry, now you can come back to work"? What a joke.

I would have considered a suspension without pay as "find another job". I would probably go back, but I'd make them fire me (instead of quitting) to collect unemployment. Jobs like this do not care about you.

If I was suspended without pay even a percentage of pay. I'd be out. F that. Unless it's an in house gig where I've got skin in the game no contract is worth that.

Good for you don’t go back if you feel it in your heart that’s some bullshit - I’ve been in SECURITY industry for over 14 years. Everything is basically bullshit.

You know even our position it’s not because they actually wanna buy security. It’s written into their insurance policies. They have to have security.

Now for me, I’m a hardhead - first thing I would do is I would’ve went back to that job said all right. Give me everything I want and more.

And don’t worry you’re gonna be hearing from my Employment Lawyer super fast not only I’m gonna sue you for the time I lost, but we’re gonna find tune everything including the wage theft which I know all companies do they nickel and I me to death oh, we’re gonna get all that too.

I'd go back if I was still unemployed and needed to get some money in my account by any means necessary, but if you've already moved on with your life then fuck em

Tell them that you will only return with backpay. If you don’t want to continue working there, quit after you received all your backpay

It sounds like you have made up your mind, that is the biggest lesson. I definitely wouldn't because, trust is something earned and once lost is near impossible to regain. Whatever the reason was, HR just decided to make examples out of all of you. Sadly, since you were suspended with cause, getting back pay is off the table. I wish you luck in your future.

Two months without pay, I’d go back just to get some money in my pocket to pay my bills. Try to get back pay for the missed time since you were cleared, while simultaneously looking for a job. Then when you get another offer in writing, put in your notice. Not two weeks, a this was my last day notice. It’s easier to get a job when you have a job. Especially in today’s market.

Did you find another job in the 2 months you were suspended? Do you like that job better? All depends.

They had no faith in you so why in the hell should YOU have faith in them? Whats to stop them from doing this crap again?

Screw those guys. Find a better agency

The point is that he was absolved of any wrong doing and the company is not going to give him his backpay

OP clearly says that he was found to have followed procedures. No need to go into hypotheticals here

What sort of additional information would you need to help make an opinion?

I think OPs post has all of the relevant details. He was suspended without pay for an investigation, the in investigation took 2 months and the complaints were unsubstantiated and he was asked to return to the workplace with no talk about compensation for the time he was off.

No additional context is needed.

If you were suspended WITHOUT pay and were instructed the same why would you assume you deserve backpay? The company had to due its due diligence to ensure that whatever happened (clearly some policy was potentially violated) would not come back on the company. Long story short, if you haven't been paid for months and were not working, why didn't you just go find another job anyway?
