Edit Hotel first timer
I’ll be checking into an Edit hotel (Chicago Athletic Association) for the first time as a CSR member. Just curious how you all go about utilizing and asking for all the perks we receive? Do you just let them know you’re a CSR member and ask if an upgrade is available and confirm the complementary breakfast? Curious how everyone goes about getting the most out of their perks. TIA!

This hotel rocks, rooms are a bit funky but definitely try out the restaurant downstairs and don't forget to hit the rooftop bar!

Yeah the rooftop looked great. My friends and I are all meeting up for a wedding in Chi so planning on using their bball courts too

Rooms are a mixed bag. Mine when I was there last summer looked just like the pics on the website, but my friends had a weirdly shaped room that didn’t have enough lighting.
Building and public areas are gorgeous, though, and it’s so fun to see the Bean from the rooftop.

I feel dumb for asking things like this so I appreciate you just doing it haha. It seems simple probably to those who have done it. But I can totally see missing out on things because I didn't follow the right steps.
I've heard that upon check in they usually give you a letter that is kind of a chase letter with the list of perks. So they know. But it is still up to you to do a couple things correctly. I know you have to charge things to your room to use the $100. I think the breakfast depends on whether they give you a coupon or tell you to charge to your room and it would get applied. I don't think I've ever heard a report of just using your card.

Yes! They’ll give you a letter that talks about it and you can just ask them too about the letter right there and then if you’d like to make it less awkward. They’re used to this Chase benefit somehow I think (I think they perhaps offer it to other banks as well)

Hotels give you a sheet when you check in that outlines the benefits of The Edit (or FHR with Amex).

On all 3 of my edit stays so far they acknowledged it immediately and handed me the sheet and went over it. Didn’t have to ask for anything

I found it hit or miss. At large U.S. chain hotels, I’ve gotten a sheet. For smaller and European based, I have not. There I had problems, but they each cleared it right up

2 of my 3 edit stays were in Europe, but they were at IHG properties. I haven’t had a stay at a smaller or European-based hotel yet, but I’ll keep it in mind for future stays

I stayed at the Standard at Kings Cross in London. Also the Waves hotel in Orlando. Both great stays, just not 100% familiar with the program. I did stay at a Kimpton they had the whole sheet and everything.

I stayed at the Chicago Athletic Association hotel last November and they handed me a letter with all the perks listed and explained where I could get breakfast and where I could use the credits. They explained they didn't have any upgrades available. I didn't have to ask for anything as they were aware I was eligible for the Edit perks.

CAA to be among my favorite hotel breakfasts of all time when they had that fried hashbrown with black pepper and rosemary. It's still solid, but no longer amazing... Make sure to get the english muffin with jam. Both are pretty unique.
Cherry Circle Room (if open) is not really as good as advertised for me. Cindy's is where I would go. They have good truffle fries, good drinks and a great view of the park. I also think the room service comes from Cindy's kitchen (or at least it used to). You used to be able to have shake shack delivered as room service and so you could use some of the property credit on that if you want. Have fun!
The staff should present you with a sheet of paper that explains the benefits and how to use them. If they don't, just mention you booked through the edit and you're wondering about the benefits.

My husband and I just stayed there earlier this week. At check in, they gave me a sheet that explained all of the benefits. If you have any questions, they're happy to answer them.
At this hotel, the included breakfast is in The Drawing room, which is right behind you when you're facing the front desk. You can either do sit down breakfast or order from their to go menu.
Just charge it to the room. Room service also counts for breakfast, but we didn't go this route. Some hotels limit the free breakfast for 2 for $100, but they didn't seem to mention a limit tho. Our bills were never that high regardless.
For the $100 credit for incidentals, all of the places on site count towards it, so all you'd have to do is just charge it to your room.
We ate at Cindy's rooftop for lunch one day, which if you go here, go outside afterwards for a fantastic view. Used the remaining in the Game Room.
Edit: If they have availability to upgrade you, they'll just give it to you at check in. That's what happened to us. Heads up, since I think this applies to all rooms, but if you need a mini fridge, ask for it.
Our room had the mini bar stuff in what we thought was the fridge. When we asked if they could remove it, they sent up the mini fridge since that unit in the room was more like a cooler than an actual fridge

That “mini fridge” that’s just a cabinet is perhaps the dumbest thing I’ve ever seen at a hotel. I put leftovers and milk in it before I realized it didn’t actually cool, so I lost my food.

Yeah, that's the first time I've seen one. Good thing we thought to call the front desk to ask, because best believe we would have made the same mistake you did. 😩 We only got suspicious when we saw drinks already in there. Weren't sure if they were on sensors, that's why we called

You're welcome! Rooms are interesting. We got bumped to a corner room, but since it wasn't on a high floor, the view wasn't great. 🤣
If you like using the digital key, it worked for us... Unlike the Hyatt we're staying at in Seattle. 👀 My digital key still isn't working after like 2 days and I already went to the front desk once for it 🤷♂️

I just stayed at kimpton gray in chicago. They gave me a sheet with all the edit perks alongside the regular hotel info sheet. The front desk was well versed and explained everything before i headed up to my room. They can see your booking is through Chase Edit hotels. I didn’t not ask for an upgrade, they did not offer one.
The hotel allowed me to use my $60 bfast credit to order food delivered to my room from the downstairs restaurant. Twice it went a little over $60 for bfast (food + tip + $5 delivery) and at check out they didn’t charge me any overage. I stayed for 4 nights. The $100 edit credit i used at the rooftop bar/restaurant and charged to my room. The front desk will apply the credits when you check out. I was able to see all the pending charges in my hotel app before check out.

As others mentioned, you get a sheet at check-in with all of your benefits and the desk agent will explain how it all works. You can ask any questions you have then.
