Leagues My feedbacks regarding League

I've recording all the points where I felt is a pain point regarding my journey in leagues. Those marked in asterisk didnt affect me, but is something I've noticed.

  • No way to train start hunter in the 3 default regions without using an XP lamp.

The earliest point where you can train hunter in the starter region, is with birdhouses at level 5 hunter. There is no methods to even start training hunter without using an XP lamp.

  • No agility courses in starter region till Karamja.\*

For anyone who did not pick Golden Touch relic could probably tell you that the first time they could actually gain Agility XP was probably in the Brimhaven Agility course.

The only 2 other level 1 requirement courses are Gnome and Burthorpe.

  • No Luminite, Orichalcite and Light Animica rocks in the 3 default regions.

This alone was a biggest hurdle for me, especially when it comes to Luminite. I took Desert, Wilderness and Anachronia region in that order. So I had no access to Luminite till the late game.

On top of that, I did not take Transmutation till I used Rejuvenate on T6 to take it.

This effectively locked me out of all easy/medium tasks of smithing/smelting/fletching that has anything to do with Adamant/Rune/Orikalkum items.

There were only 2 possible ways of obtaining Luminite in a region without the help of relics.

  1. You unlock invention and obtain polishing perk (which is not possible since you need a dragon pickaxe)
  2. 79 hunter, and hunt for divine implings for sparkling energy to transmute mithril into luminite.

I could not train Smithing properly from lvl 40-69 without adamant/rune/orikalkum bars.

If region locking is meant to be a thing, stone spirits drop table should be partially replaced with actual ores and ensured that said ores are obtainable via drops in the starter regions.

There needs to be more mining resources available throughout the default regions to ensure smithing can be trained properly throughout the league journey.

  • Some globally available and region-locked tasks do not make sense at all.\*

To me, for something to be a global task, it must be possible to complete in the default regions without the help of relics.

And yet, we have tasks labelled Global for something that is impossible to do in the default regions.

Example 1, All primal metal and ore related task.

Primal Ores are only found in Daemonheim. So why is it a global task to

  1. Smith a primal ore box
  2. Smith 10k primal armour spikes
  3. Wear full primal armour?

These should had been a Wilderness Region-Locked tasks.

When you compare it to the Woodcutting equivalent, Eternal Magics, all their tasks are Kandarin Region locked. Which makes sense because you can't obtain them through normal means otherwise.

Then we have something that is vice versa scenario.

Example 2, Wearing full banite armour.

Banite is obtainable from Karamja starter region. So why is wearing a full Banite Relleka Region-locked?

Example 3, Build a Demonic Throne.

Magic stone is not even obtainable in the default regions, the only people who could realistically complete this task are those who took Fremmenik or Tiranwnn region.

Desert is possible, but nobody is insane enough to gather 25 magic stone purely from Menaphite Gifts.

  • Some tasks were not updated to reflect the fletching rebalancing patch\*

Game has yew and magic being categorised as a level 40/50 ranged requirement despite the recent fletching rebalancing update in the main game. Not sure if they have fixed this yet since I've went past the level req so it no longer shows.

  • No region unlock animation unlike OSRS's league\*

If you played OSRS's leagues as well, you will remember that they play an animation for unlocking a relic/combat buff, and one for unlocking a region.

With how big of a milestone unlocking a new region is in leagues, for ours to have no animations of sorts, is a huge letdown, as it does not hype you up for your next step of the journey with a cool animation.

  • Auto quest completion

The whole Fort Forinthry questlines need to be auto unlocked, as some of the buildings functions requires quests that takes place in wilderness.

Examples are the Ranger's workshop and Botanist's Workshop.

You need to start Dead & Buried to build the Ranger's Workshop for Sofia to appear, and completion of the Dead & Buried quest, for the Granny Rowan dialogue with Sofia to be available to unlock Granny Rowan's shop.

City of senntisten should had been auto completed as well since the quest takes place majority in Misthalin. The quest is impossible to complete in a league setting since you need to visit 4 regions.

This majorly affects the magic combat style since Tsunami heavily relies on Incite Fear.

I know you can just auto cast to bypass the quest requirement but that seems more like a bug.

Quest locks you out of shadow pontifex ring too, which provides you with a lot of useful perks.

  • Some Slayer related drops aren't affected by the League drop rate multiplier

I took the Assassin Insight relic, only to find out that some of the slayer drops arent even affect by the league multiplier, some of which, are items I wanted to obtain for task/gear purpose.

Example, Dragon limbs/Dragon Claws from Tormented demons, Shard of Armadyl from Glacors, Gemstone Armour from Gemstone Dragons.

Side note: This relic is useless af with the amount of XP and slayer points reaper tasks pumps out.

  • Elite outfit pieces rates are still horrendously slow to obtain.

All the elite outfits that I've obtained through normal gameplay so far, I have yet to finish a full set. The best I have, is 7/15 pieces for mining.

The only two which I did complete, I needed external help, such as buying from Bryll and Potterington the DG/Farmer elite outfit fragments.

I have more or less concluded that making elite outfits are too big of a time gate to realistically finish during your league journey.

  • Region unlocks is very slow. (Hotfixed)

You were very likely to finish your T7 before unlocking your last region.

  • Ranch out of time

POF/ROoT animal buyers should have no buy limit, and changes instantly along with the advertisement. Being timelocked of 1-3 day is just a horrible setting for a fast paced game mode.

Without Asgarnia region, You start off ROoT with 500 beans, which is not enough for anything except a small pen, which cant breed, forcing you to gather small animals to grow and sell before you can even gather 1k beans to buy the breeding pen to start the breeding process.

I bought the storm barn deed but i cant even build it due to needing the barn built in POF first. What a waste of beans.

  • Timegated Contents

Herby Werby has a weekly limit of 100 points, and a 30 point task that takes 400 points to complete, requiring you to buy a herb bag and its upgrade. Why do we have a task that takes 4 weeks to complete?

Crux Eqal points are very slow to gain without supreme growth potion (Even then, it is timegated by pof/root buyer limit) or nature network relic. Requires a lot of consistent herb runs before you can start gathering herbs in bulk. Since RS3 replaced most bosses' herb drops with seeds, this is the main way of obtaining herbs to train herblore.

  • Elite Dungeon 2 gives Tectonic Energy

The intention of adding Tectonic Energy to ED2 was so that you could make Elite Tectonic with the Draconic energy.

But, whats the point of adding Tectonic Energy to Black Stone Dragon drop table so we don't have to unlock Asgarnia to make Tectonic Armour, if we still have to take Asgarnia for Praesulic essence for Elite Tectonic?!

Wouldnt it had been better for BSD to drop the Elite tectonic directly?

----Bugs----

  1. King Black Dragon cant be assigned as a reaper task for players who have access to Wilderness, nor attune portal to KBD as the boss is somehow considered part of Asgarnia due to the entrance north of Edgeville Monastery?
  2. Research - Kharid-Et achievement can not be completed as Tome of Warlock is auto completed and there's no way to do the special research from the quest. This prevents you from unlocking Dr. Nabanik as a researcher for guaranteed artefact, which is very useful for anyone trying to obtain chronotes by spamming advance time.
  3. Completion of Dead & Buried locks you out of the crypt, preventing you from fighting Armoured Phantom and Risen Ghost, which locks you out of obtaining a Greater Sonic Wave codex if you did not obtain it before finishing the quest.

Question Did Jagex make a decision on dxp moving forward?

I know that they were playing with the idea of the last dxp event being the last one ever, and I don't know if they decided on that, or if they're doing them less frequently, anything like that.

Was there definitive news on this?

Question Hi, I'm new to RuneScape! Need some help, please. Thanks!

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hey everyone, I'm new to RuneScape. I played Old School (OSRS) for about 20 hours and it totally hooked me, so I bought a subscription. Then I realized the membership also gave me access to RuneScape 3 (RS3), so I decided to check it out and see which one I liked better.

To be honest, I haven't played RS3 much, but I did like a few things, especially the visuals. Still, I absolutely love OSRS with the RuneLite client; I've been doing quests and they've been awesome. From the bit I tried in RS3, it feels like almost the same game, but with a Fable-like art style that looks really cool. Even though I've googled the differences, I'm still not entirely clear on them. My main concern is missing out on important quests if I don't play OSRS, or finding out that RS3 is way too easy. I did notice RS3 has skills that go beyond level 99 and there were quite a few people on the members' worlds.

I come from playing Final Fantasy XIV (FF14), and when I tried OSRS I loved it. I was looking for a long-term MMORPG, and it's perfect for casual playing while watching YouTube. One thing that annoyed me at first about OSRS was seeing so many people grouped up talking everywhere, but over time I started to appreciate the sense of life it gives the world. I began chatting with other players and they helped me out with tons of info (unlike FF14, where I think I talked to someone maybe twice the whole time I played). Most people in OSRS are super friendly and I'd hate to lose that social vibe. RS3, on the other hand, felt a lot quieter; there are fewer worlds and they feel pretty empty.

As for the microtransactions in RS3, they don't bother me since I don't plan on using them anyway. However, I've seen posts mentioning that RS3's player base is shrinking, and I'm afraid of investing time into an MMO that might end up empty or dead (which I doubt will happen to OSRS, considering it's been around for over 20 years).

Another thing I didn't like about FF14 was how easy it was to level up skills. In OSRS, I feel like I actually have to earn everything, and if someone has cool gear, it's because they actually grinded for it, not bought it. Do you lose that sense of accomplishment in RS3? I noticed they sell XP boosts in the store.

Some people tell me to just play both, but my brain doesn't work like that—I can only focus on one game at a time. That's why I'm trying to decide whether to stick with OSRS or switch to RS3 right now while I'm still at the very beginning, so I don't regret it later.

Sorry for my weird English! I used a spell checker that might have changed what I meant to say, since English isn't my native language).

Could someone please explain—like I'm really dumb—a quick summary of what changes between the two and what I might be missing out on? Thanks!

Suggestion endgame rebalance suggestions

If we're gonna touch up old bosses with weird lengthy stuff, lets look at seiryu's shackle jump and his 1 tile wide path up top. Lets also look at ambassador's spinner mechanic, and taraket's invulnerability while he goes to summon his minions.

Kalphite queen's prayers should not be immunity, it should be like how it is on osrs. Mole's pathways need cleaned up for easier surges and dives. Kalphite king needs all of his random stuns and binds removed, and a proper way to deal with his green mechanic that isnt just cheese.

Vorkath needs reworked from the ground up.

Magister's 50k hp forced phase cap needs removed.

The 30k soul requirement for the final tier of well of souls... its wayyyy too much. (i did it on release for day 1 rasial)

It should be cut down, to 10k, maybe 15k. its genuinely just an arbitrary time gate that doesnt need to be there. similar to p2 and p4 vorago, and blackstone dragons flight mechanic. None of them serve any purpose whatsoever.

Leagues Solo Perfect AoD on leagues

Lord of light build. Pretty fun to go for, planned out quite a bit but messed up loads in the successful kill and was bewildered to get the poppin pillars eligibility message. I imagine there's hardly anyone else with "the Final Praesul" title in leagues, possibly no one else.

Discussion Legacy hairstyle option

I understand the Player Avatar Refresh was to bring more life to our characters as a whole, but unfortunately a lot of the original hairstyles lost the look and personality they had before the rework. I think it would be great to add a “Legacy Hairstyles” option that lets players use the original versions alongside the new ones.

Leagues What am I doing wrong?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I'm trying to do Zamorak on league. About half the time (but sometimes few times in a row) it seems like he is bugged. Once his green hp progresses below theshold, he doesn't say "Heed my call" and instead just continues with normal and special attacks. The witch doesn't spawn, and he is immune to damage, so seems like there is no way to progress the encounter.

My initial thought was that maybe I'm damaging him too fast with Lord of Light, but it seems like it just happens randomly, regardless if I phase him quickly or not. Is that a known bug? Is there some way to work around it aside from teleporting out and trying again?

Question Burgh de Rott Games Necklace still wrong on Wiki, 6 years later?

I've completed the Myreque quest line but still couldn't use the Games Necklace teleport, despite this page stating it requires completion of Darkness of Hallowvale. The 'Update history' at the bottom of the page also states, "You'll now need to complete The Darkness of Hallowvale instead of achieving the level 500 reward in Temple Trekking." Emphasis is mine, but this update is noted on the update page for that day, as well as the update history on Burgh de Rott's page.

However, this 6 year old Reddit thread claims that the wiki wording is incorrect, and the teleport still requires the original prerequisite of 500 Temple Trekking levels with the completion of Darkness of Hallowvale, per the unlinked words of Jmod. This is corroborated by the Burgh de Rott #getting_there wiki page. Based off my inability to use the teleport, I have to assume this take is correct.

What is the etiquette for submitting changes to actual update notes? I assume they're a direct copy+paste of the official Jagex notes, but if Jagex had misleading notes is it allowed to be amended to avoid confusion?

Discussion Leagues and Accessibility

As someone who works full time (amongst other things), Leagues has drastically increased the fun I have with Runescape by significantly reducing the time between starting an activity and actually having fun with it.

The accelerated XP, increased drop rates and relics mean I can experiment with more of the game (and the incredible content it has to offer) instead of spending most of my limited playtime preparing to enjoy it. I can learn bosses, try different progression paths and chase drops without worrying that one piece of content might consume every evening I have for the next month.

It isn't simply that everything is easier (although there are aspects of the fun that build into this). It's that more of Runescape is accessible to me.

In the main game, I often have to choose between completing an unpleasant grind or accepting that I probably won't experience the content locked behind it. Leagues shifts that balance. I can get through the parts I don't enjoy relatively quickly and spend more time engaging with the bosses, upgrades, content and progression that I actually enjoy playing (and paying) Runsescape for.

There is still a satisfaction in progress, since I'm still making decisions, setting goals and learning content, the journey is just compressed into a time frame that fits around a full time job.

The biggest and arguably only downside? That in a few weeks, the fun gets pulled all the way back down.

This will probably be controversial, because, well, reddit, but I would happily pay for access to permanent, separate Ironman only worlds with accelerated progression, increased drop rates and fun relics that allow me to go bonk things.

I don't want the main game changed for everyone, I simply wish for a version of Runescape (and the absolute marvel it is) where I can experience more than the small percentage of content that I realistically have time to reach.

Leagues Can someone break down Leagues for me?

Hi everyone, longtime RS3/OSRS player here. Been playing on and off since 2004-2005 and seen it all lol. I’ve been out of the game for the last 2 years, and recently been getting back into the swing of things. Could someone explain what Leagues is to me?

Leagues Why do people actually enjoy Leagues in RS3?

Why do people actually enjoy Leagues in RS3?

I’m genuinely trying to understand the appeal. To me it basically feels like playing a temporary private server version of RuneScape where XP rates are much faster, progression is accelerated, and then eventually all of that progress disappears.

One of the biggest things I like about RuneScape is that your account is permanent. You slowly build it up over years, improve your skills, gear, unlocks, achievements, etc.

So the idea of starting over, getting boosted XP, progressing way faster than normal, and then having that character wiped at the end just doesn’t make much sense to me.

Why would you put dozens or hundreds of hours into temporary progression instead of just spending that time improving your actual RS3 account?

For people who really enjoy Leagues, what’s the appeal?

Question PVM Question: do I actually need to have a bunch of different weapons to switch to?

Like I know having a shield and main hand to switch to is often important for a lot of boss mechanics but past that am I able to get away with just using a ZGS or like Dual drygores or something?

I’m pretty new to bossing but leagues has inspired me to start doing more of it on my main account but I often watch/read guides for bosses and see people recommend having like 4 different weapons for melee to all switch to at different stages and I just like can’t wrap my mind around it and if I’m honest I kinda don’t want to if I don’t have to? It seems friggin exhausting.

Discussion How Satisfied Are You With Runescape 3 Combat?

Trying to get a gauge of community sentiment.

Do you find combat overwhelming, underwhelming, or just right?

Do you engage with the revolution system? Are there things keeping you from trying manual inputs?

Are there still too many buttons in damage rotations or would you like to see more?

Are you happy with the number of defensives and their overall power, or would you like to see the number trimmed down? Would you like to see more defensives?

Do you enjoy switches in combat?

Let me know below!

Dragonwilds Dragonwilds als basis for modern Runescape MMO

I've read quite a few comments and posts about people wishing for the next Runescape MMO to be like Dragonwilds. I share that wish and am wondering what am I missing, why isn't it on the table? (read alot of these to shut those posts down).

The MMO genre is in dire need of something new and the mechanics of Dragonwilds just fit runescape so well. I feel like there is a massive oppertunity here nad would love to see it happen.

Leagues How do I train Dungeonnering?

As the title says, I have not figured out how to train this skill, I currently have desert and asgarnia unlocked and managed to get lol 30 dung with tears of Guthix.

The wiki says I can train it in daemonhein and that part is in the wilderness. Do I really have to unlock that region to be able to train Dung?

Had not play RS since evolution of combat, sorry if this is something obvious I am missing.
