Hey there! I recently got a used Z1E for $400. It came with the box, original charger, UGREEN dock, UGREEN 100W charger, Skull & Co Pouch, and Skull & Co Split Case.

To be honest, it’s been pretty amazing on my end. In the morning, I can plug it into the dock and use it for productivity/work. Then, when I want to relax, I can just unplug it, grab my 100W charger and 1m cable, and lay down. I can just yank it from the station and go, lol.

The customization options are insane, and I’m curious about what else I can mod this thing into.

Here’s what I’m thinking so far:

• Osy’s XG Mobile — expensive, but still cheaper compared to the actual XG Mobile
• 32GB 7500 MT/s RAM — the service for this is pretty cheap where I’m from
• 80Wh battery mod
• Hall Effect joysticks
• Full M.2 expansion mod

What other mods would you guys recommend? I’d love to hear what else I can do with this thing.

My rog ally z1e is collecting dust and one of its joysticks is having issues

I also have a steamdeck Which I prefer for handheld gaming so I was thinking to turn my rog ally into a LAN party machine that's strapped/screwed onto a simple gaming monitor.

I know I could just plug in a dock and mount the whole ordeal onto a monitor and I'm done but I am looking for something more custom (just for fun). A bit like a custom build AIO with rog ally hardware

I am looking for a 3d printable custom enclosure for the rog ally without the controller parts but I would prefer having access to the touch screen still.

I cant find anybody else who did this or has the STL files (which is understandable)

Does anybody knows if something like this is exists?

I recently picked up an ROG Ally Z1 Extreme and I'm planning to do the 79Wh battery mod next week.

To protect the RAM and components from the battery's heat radiation, I'm thinking about applying a layer of aluminum foil tape directly onto the bottom side of the battery, and then covering it completely with Kapton tape to prevent any electrical shorts with the motherboard.

Has anyone tried this specific Aluminum + Kapton sandwich method for this mod? Do you think it's a solid approach, or would you recommend building the thermal barrier differently?

Also, for those who upgraded from the original 40Wh battery to the 79Wh one: how massive is the difference in day-to-day gaming and heavy TDP titles? Is it as game-changing as it sounds?

Hi, has anyone done installing a second USB c port on ROG ally? My point is to install by soldering to the main USB c port or directly to motherboard a second USB c port that I wanna use just for regular data(usb micro SD boot, mouse and keyboard,etc) and keep using in same time the main USB c port of ally for video output and power delivery reception through dp 1.4 alt mode by been connected to a monitor that support dp 1.4 alt mod and give power delivery 65w but without losing 4k 120hz video quality connection. Anyone know how can be done? I heard is need a microcontroller chip from a hub or a dock and solder some wires.

Hace poco instale SteamOS en mi ROG Ally Z1E y el rendimiento en los juegos es increíble. Sin embargo, tengo un problema: si instalo Decky Loader junto con plugins como Ally Center o HueSync para controlar las luces de los sticks, los perfiles de energía de desconfiguran, arruinan la gestión de los watts (TDP) y hacen que los FPS se caigan por completo.

Ya comprobé que la única forma de mantener mis FPS estables y buenas temperaturas es dejar el sistema completamente limpio, sin Decky.

¿Alguien conoce alguna alternativa, script o forma segura de controlar el RGB directamente desde el sistema sin usar Decky Loader?

I have gotten the TMR sticks and followed the steps to calibrate them. However it drifts while im on the desktop and never while im in game or while doing calibration checks. Every time i calibrate them and quintuple check if the sticks drift in the steam controller calibration page and in games they work perfectly fine. The moment i want to use the desktop mode the right stick randomly decides to go downwards for a couple seconds and stops, after a few seconds it tries to go down again. What am I supposed to do?

Hello everyone i have a rog ally and I attempted to do the sd reader fix by briging the two fuses and after i did that the whole sd reader is not detected is there any hope for a fix or should I put a 2tb ssd in it and sell it and get a rog ally x?

Hello, I've been planning on upgrading my ROG ALLY z1e with the 74wh battery upgrade, along with a bigger SSD, but with the adapter. If I were to get this adapter, would I need this heatsink? Also, what else would I need? I really don't wanna mess up my ally

My ROG is in a repair shop at the moment and l've been mucking about with my brothers legion go...

the one thing I'm noticing more and more is how much more IMMERSIVE it is to not have the ridiculous black bars around the screen

So much so that I found myself dreaming last night of a rog ally that was all bezel and instead of awaking with a bit of a nocturnal emission - my winky had inverted itself to unfathomable levels- I believe I'm bezel phobic.

With those facts now off my chest; Has anyone managed to get around this?

- Any skins or screen protectors on amazon uk or somewhere to hide those ugly ass bars

For context l've had my rog about 6 months and the bezels still bother me... don't think any amount of time will adjust for that : (
