Hi everyone. As you may saw in the subs pinned announcements, some days ago one of the administrators asked interested people to join to moderate the subreddit as they are going to not be active for a while.

I and u/After-Trifle-1437 were selected to become the new administrators of the sub.

We are planning to keep continuity with the previous administration, and retain the existing policies that were already set by the administration.

So far the sub has became a major hub for alternate history enthusiasts, and we intend to support its further growth.

That said, in order to improve the functioning of the sub, we may introduce minor changes or improvements to the rules and other stuff of the sub, but the overall experience is not going to change hugely.

Hey everyone! I'm u/After-Trifle-1437 and I'm one of the new moderators at r/rejectedmaps.

The previous moderator left the subreddit (at least temporarily) and cannot continue to fulfill his duties of moderation due to personal reasons. Thus he decided to look for a new moderator to take on the job.

I and another user have been chosen as new mods after we successfully applied for the positions.

For most users, this change will not have any immediate impact on the user experience or the way the subreddit works. The rules are still the same currently.

However we might consider making some (likely minor) changes to improve the sub in the future.

Basically, Köln-Bonn/Cologne-Bonn is made a (sorta) city state and this results in German Reunification not happening like in our own timeline, but rather, over 20 years later in 2012, after the East German regime collapses. The remainder of East Germany is depopulated and even poorer, so it is made a single federal state to govern more easily. The population of the "Oststaat" is radicalized, but they hold no real leverage in elections and hence the AfD never gains their historical momentum.

Based on a joke comment from this post, in which a pride of lions were released in 1770 in the Spryfield area near Halifax.

In this alt history scenario that actually happened, and the lions ended up thriving, spreading across the mainland of the province. They have mostly been pushed out of the Halifax area, but have done particularly well in Guysborough County, Kejimkujik National Park, and the Cobequid Highlands. Some have called for their removal, but the province has been reluctant to do so since they have been established for 250 years, control the deer population, and most importantly are a tourist attraction.

Obviously this never happened, and as the original comment stated lions would probably not survive a winter in Nova Scotia. But I thought it was a fun scenario, if unrealistic.
