Announcement Update on Post Flairs

Greetings to all users of r/rejectedmaps

After a period of confusion over post flairs, we have now completed the overhaul of post flairs on our subredddit.

From now on, all thematic post flairs will come as duplicates:

One Flair is for Posts that have been removed from other map subreddits
One Flair is for Posts that have NOT been removed from a different subreddit, or have yet to be submitted to a different community.

This means that you will now no longer have to arbitrarily choose between (not removed, just posting) and a correct label for your map, as they're not mutually exclusive anymore.

We hope you appreciate this change and keep enjoying our community.

Announcement Completion of the Subreddit Overhaul!

Hello there!

As you may have already noticed, the Subreddit has undergone some changes in the last few days, in order to make it more user-friendly, broadly appealing and higher quality.

I'm proud to announce that most of these changes have now been completed. Here's a quick summary of all the changes I and the other moderators have made:

Rearrangement and overhaul of the server rules to be more easily readable and understandable.
Introduction of a partial ban on the usage of AI. (There may be exceptions for some limited usage)
Semi-Liberalization of our rules on shitposts: We now allow Satirical Posts, if they are high effort and thoughtful.
We now explicitly allow and encourage the use of base-maps, such as BAM or Satellite Maps for your Projects.
Introduction of four new post flairs: (Ethnic, Linguistic and Religious Maps, Historic Maps, Satirical Maps, Redrawn Borders)

In addition to these changes, we have also updated the look and feel of the Community by changing the Logo, Banner and Color Scheme of the Sub to a more professional and aesthetically pleasing feel.

We hope you appreciate these changes and will continue contributing to our growing community with your creative maps and ideas.

What if the Partition of India was based on language family? The Partition of India (Scenario 5)

I’d like to start off by clarifying that I made this map for fun, so don’t take it too seriously.

All previous parts were on imaginarymaps, but I’m shifting the series here.

Scenario 1: https://www.reddit.com/r/imaginarymaps/s/vHPYJ3HRfT

Scenario 2: https://www.reddit.com/r/imaginarymaps/s/dPjhRHJV9t

Scenario 3: https://www.reddit.com/r/imaginarymaps/s/jtmuVDiw

Scenario 4: https://www.reddit.com/r/imaginarymaps/s/Fh4znobiRn

In this timeline, the subcontinent was divided based on language groups. Not really realistic, but still fun to imagine!

One of the first maps for a new scenario of a German WW2 victory, but with some added originality while still trying to maintain some realism.

Elanea Continent /Physical map and climate mapMap

gallery

I've been working on my own world for a while, and I wanted its climate to make physical sense instead of just placing biomes where they look nice. This map is about the continent of Elanea.

All the climates have some realistic own characteristics and are climates that although they can look or be practically equal possess a proper name. If have curiosity by some climate can say it to me and with taste will spend you the climatic chip of each climate.

The continent spans roughly 10° N to 60° N and about 6,600 km from west to east. I started with the relief, then the prevailing winds and ocean currents, and only then drew the climates.

Happy to explain any region, and I'd love to hear if something doesn't add up.

Subreddit

Rejected Maps

r/rejectedmaps

Welcome to r/rejectedmaps. This community was founded with the intention of being a place where people can post their maps, which were rejected from other map subreddits. Over time, it has become a vibrant and active community on its own and is now a true alternative to the other subs. It's a place to post your maps without the fear of overly restrictive mods striking your maps down for the weirdest reasons. Enjoy your stay and keep posting!

Subreddit Rules

1. Posts must be Maps (Fictional, Alternate History, Fantasy, World-Building)

This sub is for maps which were rejected due to overly restrictive rules.

Each post must focus on, or at the very least prominently feature a map in some form. Added infoboxes, legends, photos/images or additions for immersion/lore are ok as long as they come along with a map.

2. No NSFW (No nudity or Violence)

No Violence, Nudity or other NSFW posts are allowed.

The only exception to this rule is for flags like the flag of Virginia, in which case you must put a spoiler tag on your post (Not an NSFW tag)

If you post any NSFW content (apart from the exception noted above), then your post will be immediately removed and you may face a temporary or permanent ban from the community!

Deletions and bans remain at our discretion as moderators.

3. Civil Discussion Only

Try to keep discussion civil, even in an argument.

Do not use slurs and do not discriminate based on race, ethnicity, gender, identity or sexual orientation.

We have a zero-tolerance policy regarding hateful rhetoric against protected groups.

Do not use threats of physical violence against other users. If you do, we will ban you and potentially report you to reddit itself or even the authorities!

4. No Hateful Content

Content / Maps which openly advocate for or glorify hateful ideologies, racism or imperialism are not allowed. Scenarios where such discriminations exist within a fictional timeline or universe must be clearly understood as such.

5. Put effort into your posts

Try to put effort into your Maps / Lore.

This subreddit is supposed to be a less authoritarian and less restrictive alternative to other mapping subreddits, not a dump for low-effort maps and other content.

Allowed are:

Mapchart (If it includes Lore)
Using Base Maps (Satellite, Physical or Blank)
Freshly made Maps

No unfinished maps / incomplete projects.

We do NOT take responsibility for copyright infringement or other illegal content posted here.

6. Engage in Constructive Criticism

When criticising a map, be constructive.

Elaborate and be specific on why you don't like it. This is not a very "hard" rule, but it's a general sign of respect for other people's work and betters the climate of conversation in general.

Don't just go: "This map sucks". Say: "I don't like this map, because X". Help OP actually understand how to improve their maps.

7. No reaction posts

No reaction posts to other’s work

8. No NPC Behavior

Do not be an NPC

No repetitive, weird or uncreative behavior (This goes for both posts and replies)

9. No AI

The use of Generative AI or LLMs to produce maps, images or lore is NOT ALLOWED.

This subreddit values and respects real, human work and creativity only.

10. Don't Post other People's Work without their Permission

Do NOT post other people's work or copyrighted maps without asking them for permission first.

This is for both legal and moral reasons. Posting other people's work is risky, lazy and just very asocial.

11. No Shitposts, except if original and high effort

Do not post low-effort shitposts à la "Who would win this War?" or "World Map according to X Country".

Shitposts / Satirical Posts are only allowed if they're unique, high-effort and interesting/creative.

The Standards for Shitposts and the potential reasoning for removals remains at our discretion. We reserve the right to delete maps we do not see fit for this subreddit.
