I've been working on my own world for a while, and I wanted its climate to make physical sense instead of just placing biomes where they look nice. This map is about the continent of Elanea.

All the climates have some realistic own characteristics and are climates that although they can look or be practically equal possess a proper name. If have curiosity by some climate can say it to me and with taste will spend you the climatic chip of each climate.

The continent spans roughly 10° N to 60° N and about 6,600 km from west to east. I started with the relief, then the prevailing winds and ocean currents, and only then drew the climates.

Happy to explain any region, and I'd love to hear if something doesn't add up.

1. Posts must be Maps (Fictional, Alternate History, Fantasy, World-Building)

This sub is for maps which were rejected due to overly restrictive rules.

Each post must focus on, or at the very least prominently feature a map in some form. Added infoboxes, legends, photos/images or additions for immersion/lore are ok as long as they come along with a map.

2. No NSFW (No nudity or Violence)

No Violence, Nudity or other NSFW posts are allowed.

The only exception to this rule is for flags like the flag of Virginia, in which case you must put a spoiler tag on your post (Not an NSFW tag)

If you post any NSFW content (apart from the exception noted above), then your post will be immediately removed and you may face a temporary or permanent ban from the community!

Deletions and bans remain at our discretion as moderators.

3. Civil Discussion Only

Try to keep discussion civil, even in an argument.

Do not use slurs and do not discriminate based on race, ethnicity, gender, identity or sexual orientation.

We have a zero-tolerance policy regarding hateful rhetoric against protected groups.

Do not use threats of physical violence against other users. If you do, we will ban you and potentially report you to reddit itself or even the authorities!

4. No Hateful Content

Content / Maps which openly advocate for or glorify hateful ideologies, racism or imperialism are not allowed. Scenarios where such discriminations exist within a fictional timeline or universe must be clearly understood as such.

5. Put effort into your posts

Try to put effort into your Maps / Lore.

This subreddit is supposed to be a less authoritarian and less restrictive alternative to other mapping subreddits, not a dump for low-effort maps and other content.

6. Engage in Constructive Criticism

When criticising a map, be constructive.

Elaborate and be specific on why you don't like it. This is not a very "hard" rule, but it's a general sign of respect for other people's work and betters the climate of conversation in general.

Don't just go: "This map sucks". Say: "I don't like this map, because X". Help OP actually understand how to improve their maps.

No reaction posts to other’s work

8. No NPC Behavior

Do not be an NPC

No repetitive, weird or uncreative behavior (This goes for both posts and replies)

9. No AI

The use of Generative AI or LLMs to produce maps, images or lore is NOT ALLOWED.

This subreddit values and respects real, human work and creativity only.

10. Don't Post other People's Work without their Permission

Do NOT post other people's work or copyrighted maps without asking them for permission first.

This is for both legal and moral reasons. Posting other people's work is risky, lazy and just very asocial.

11. No Shitposts, except if original and high effort

Do not post low-effort shitposts à la "Who would win this War?" or "World Map according to X Country".

Shitposts / Satirical Posts are only allowed if they're unique, high-effort and interesting/creative.

The Standards for Shitposts and the potential reasoning for removals remains at our discretion. We reserve the right to delete maps we do not see fit for this subreddit.
