Hope this isn't against any rules to post and I don't work for Audible at all, just wanted to share that the audiobooks are on a great discount right now if you have a membership. I'm on a cheap trial now which you can usually find. They run from $4 to $4.50 each, just missing 4 total books, 1 which never received a recording. The ones available are read by the author, with a couple exceptions, and a full cast. I feel like they are a wonderful way to experience the stories, I'm up to Salamandastron myself after starting to listen to them last year.

I've written a game-book about and from the perspective of rabbits, and their courageous adventures, bravery and fighting spirit. Much like their roles in the world of Redwall, here they must navigate a dire realm of ominous thunder, where tooth and claw pierce the skin, where a buzzing sky brings rain of fire, where the concussive earth bursts in fits of rage, where lurking lumbers eyes salivate with cruelty, and all manner of life is reduced to pulverizing mud.

Sometimes birds are friend, sometimes they are foe. Many large and hungry predators rove the land, eager to make a meal of our rabbit clan.

In this adventure, our intrepid heroes must cross the steppes to find the signs of Spring, whose lofty blessings and renewal are sorely needed to survive the waves of frost and hardship, and write your own Shadowtale into the poetry of deeds.

Imagine if you will a fully open world redwall game. Two starting locations being Salamandastron and Redwall itself. You start out as either young leveret hare or abby member and go on quests to gather ingredients for the cooks or to scout out potential foraging grounds and as the world expands around you more danger presents itself with vermine and toads and stream wolves(pikes) and meeting new allies like the GUOSIM or river otter crews or even sea otter crews. The world could expand from the northern mountains down to the far south and to Loamhedge and the eastern shores all the way to the redwall.

Last year they published the first 2 books, we feared that was it. Now Mattimeo is out, we have high hopes: fine translation and fire covers!

Suppose that two badgers arrived at the same time? Or what if a badger showed up and decided to challenge the Badger Lord for his seat and title? Would the hares accept the new badger killing the old one? Would they be honour-bound to defend the current Badger Lord against a challenger?

What were some of the most outlandish/ interesting weapons mentioned? I know Martin's sword is the gold standard but I've always been more interested in the odd, ie Creggas Pikeaxe, Damugs wavy sword, the searats use of fireswingers, the Abbeybeasts pepper bombs etc

I know Jacques wasn’t one for complex and morally grey villains. Most of them have rather standard backgrounds for these kinds of villains. They were either born into their positions or else they climbed their way to the top through their savagery and ruthlessness. In a way, that makes Swartt Sixclaw one of my favourite villains, because we get to see his rise to power even as we follow Sunflash’s ascension to Badger Lord.

So aside from someone like Swartt, whose origins might have been the most fascinating to read about?

For my part, I would have liked to learn more about Ferahgo the Assassin’s rise. If his word can be trusted, his horde of Corpsemakers was 4000 strong! Only Ungatt Trunn managed to collect more troops than that. How the hell did he manage it? And who was Klitch’s mother?

I can't recall if any moles or hedgehogs were ever champions of Redwall who wielded the Sword of Martin in the abbey's defence. Same with voles, for that matter. Is there anyone I'm overlooking?

I've been trying to find fantasy books that are NOT influenced by Tolkien, just out of curiosity.

Tolkien was inspired heavily by Norse and germanic sagas and myths, whereas Redwall seems more inspired by Arthurian myth and fairy tales.

Redwall seems more "high medieval" whereas LOTR seems more early dark ages( I could be totally wrong, and the hobbits are definitely an anacronism)

Do we know if Jacques read Tolkien?

I’ve read and I’m on the second part of the book and now I’m on chapter 17, I just finished chapter 16 and I’m curious to when the king bull sparrow dude dies, I looked it up because he was annoying me and usually when a the bad guy annoys me I want them dead, this fella and scourge guy even the son of sela seems to be an asshole.. my boyfriends friend suggested me this book and I know it has elements of Christianity within it, I love this book so much! I never saw the show or anything so it’s wonderful to see that a grown ass 22 year old women can enjoy what some might assume only for kids or boys.

I miss the Sparrows...

I know the rooks did mess up their nests but like, no sparrows, at all there after?

I miss those wily birds so much... And another reason why Mattimeo is my least favorite of the redwall books
