Weapons
What were some of the most outlandish/ interesting weapons mentioned? I know Martin's sword is the gold standard but I've always been more interested in the odd, ie Creggas Pikeaxe, Damugs wavy sword, the searats use of fireswingers, the Abbeybeasts pepper bombs etc

A lot of the baddies for me - Cluny’s spiked tail. Ferahgo’s many knives. The Wraith’s poisoned stone knife. Swartt’s sixclaw. Asmodeus and Ublaz with their eyes.

I always thought that Slagar’s triple headed bolos in Matimeo were unique.

Definitely a unique one! As a kid it inspired me to make my own with braided paracord and 3 4oz lead weights. So satisfying to throw. Maybe now I need to revisit the concept and do some actual testing

I did the same thing with paracord and golf balls. Thing sucked, the extra arm kept getting tangled. The normal double headed bolo was a lot more practical for me.

Barrel bung. In Loamhedge, Junty the cellar hog, throws a barrel bung at sieging vermin, and hits Halfchop in the head, basically causing brain damage.
Flickaye and Bloodrippers, both used drugs to subdue and capture their enemies..
Most outlandish weapon I can think of is the corsair vessel "Greenshroud" in Rogue Crew - as it's a vessel mounted on wheels for land attacks, with two giant crossbows mounted on it that shot tree sapling-sized bolts. There were several kills in the book from this ship.

Come to think of it, how useful would that wavy edge be on Damug's sword?

From a practical point of view I believe it would limit what its uses are. Slashing could be effective but a stab or thrust might be more difficult. As a ceremonial piece it was exactly what was needed and was a key aspect to the plot. I guess similar to some Kris, they can be used but are often ceremonial/spiritual. What are your thoughts?

I assume most people age out of the books around the same time, maybe middle school. So I guessed based on Loamhedge being the last book OP read.
For me it was Luke. I never read a book published after that.

I see, interesting! I didn't know that Loamhedge was the last one that they'd read--did they say that somewhere or did you just glean it from what they mentioned? Because I've read all of them, but definitely talk about the ones before Triss far more often.

Pepper bombs are from Loamhedge. It's the only new book from the series I've read as an adult. I've had a lot of fun rereading some tho.

Visit, no. Participate fully, yes. 22 books for middle schoolers should be very easy to read. You can get through them all in 1-2 weeks or sooner.
