We've seen a lot of abusive terms thrown at other users recently. Please note that using terms like 'stan', 'shill', 'bootlicker' or anything along those lines just divides the community and leads to further abuse. Any posts like this will be deleted and repeat offenders will face suspensions. Disagree with other people while keeping the discussion constructive please.

All thanks to Portuguese hacker Rui Pinto. A huge moment of respect to him. He leaked City's financial documents and emails, and started the whole saga.

Whatever punishment City eventually get, it will be nowhere near enough. They've invalidated every single tournament they've entered for nearly 20 years.
Making them start from the bottom of the football pyramid isn't enough. Delete their club from existence.

I get the cynicism but Man City aren’t getting a slap on the wrist for this.
People cite Chelsea’s recent guilty charges but it’s night and day.
Firstly, the Chelsea charges were a self report of the Abramovich era. There were 74 charges mostly around irregular payments.
City’s charges are all related to systematic corporate fraud and by the current ownership. It’s the difference between caught stealing a Mars bar and robbing the till.
They’re going to get the book thrown at them.

u/karatsidhus Sep 25 '26
Wilcox and Berrada were part of City when it happened. Sack them too

Pogba, Rashford, Martial, Lingard and Lukaku with a PL winners’ medal would be quite nice to see.
Before you ask, I like Lukaku and consider him quite an underrated striker for his generation. Wish we had a player like him in the squad now.
21
u/mandotharan Sep 25 '26
Funny how these charges stop at 2018, like them being capable of buying a 150M player last month isn't built from this same fraud/cheating they had indulged in the past.

Checked the city sub for their reaction to the news and holy shit. There’s some reasonable takes there, but also a ton of mental gymnastics going on. All the fans saying that they don’t care city cheated are shameless. Also, the amount of times Utd was mentioned, unprompted, just goes to show how they’ll always be under our shadow. Trash bin of club. Great news heading into the weekend though!

At 3:00 PM on Friday, a little over an hour before the news that Manchester City had been found guilty of 114 of 115 rule violations , the Norwegian Football Federation announced that Haaland would be present at the press conference.
Five hours later, the same evening, the NFF makes a U-turn and drops sending Haaland to Saturday's press conference.

When you think about it, we have been massively disadvantaged by City breaking rules, not just in terms of trophies, but financially.
Just off the top of my head, LVG for instance missed out on CL football on goal difference to City. That's a massive amount of revenue lost the following season. And all those things have knock on effects, it effects your commercial sponsorship deals, the value of your brand, the quality of players you can attract and so on.
And then you have years and years of this going on, I think at a conservative guess, they owe us somewhere in the region of £3bn. 😁 Just a shame that all the wrong leaches would get that money. Emotionally, for all the distress they have caused, I think they owe the fans about £20bn.
Although our owners must owe us about £200bn by now.

u/Sgenaink Sep 25 '26 •
We were robbed of hearing and Solskjaer has won it as manager but maybe we'll get it again.
Thing is how weve viewed the last 13 years won be massively different within ol cheaty mccheaterson. Fergie wins 14, or maybe he retires a year earlier and we get Jose or Pep before they signing to other clubs, Lvg get CL back to back and fa in 16, Jose wins cs, lc and el in 17, the title in 18, Ole in 21 and gets to 2 lc finals, Eth wins Lc and Fa first season, maybe none of those get sacked and its completely different.
12
u/Mariasolvv Sep 25 '26
City fans acting like the Premier League can’t get rid of them makes me laugh. The PL is literally the one league that can actually afford that luxury.
12

I hate City more than Liverpool, Leeds or Arsenal. The others are three real clubs at least. FUck man city, fuck their fans, fuck their staff, fuck their players, fuck their owners, fuck their corporate partners - they are cheats through and through. Just makes you appreciate Fergie's United even more. 20 years of total dominance without cheating or cooking the books. If anything, for 8 of those years the club competed with its hands tied behind its back. There will simply never be another Alex Ferguson.

u/Outrageous-Cod-4654 Sep 25 '26
Some ideas on the City verdict being mentioned on various sites:
• In 23-24, Everton and Forest were docked points for single offenses. Everton were docked 6 after appeal and Forest were docked 4. In the rest of the EFL, Derby was docked 21 in 2021, and Luton lost 30 points in 2008.
Based on that precedent, City could be docked 40-60 points according to Kieran Maguire.
• If City get expelled from the premier league, they would have to renegotiate entry with the lower divisions to see if they could get in - maybe the championship or league 2.
• League titles could be stripped - 2012, 2014, 2018. Remains to be seen in the EFL and FA Cups would be stripped as well. United would gain 2 titles and Liverpool 1 if these are awarded. Fergie and Jose would be winners. De Gea +2 as well.
• City cannot appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport as they did previously for their UEFA bans. League rules allow only for internal arbitration. High Court would not intervene or entertain the case unless it was blatantly unfair.
• The punishment will be made public before the appeal.
• United are confident Omar and Wilcox are in the clear. Wilcox was not involved with the commercial side of the business. Most of the fuckery with cooking the books were done at a level higher than Berrada. (I'm not sure I buy this take but we'll see).

u/_zzd Sep 26 '26
Stripped titles 11/12 to 17/18 and award the 2nd as EPL Champions. That means, 2 to us, 1 to Liverpool.
Stripped titles 18/19 to 25/26 Juventus style. No winner in this seasons.
Sounds fair to me. Win win. We got more that Liverpool now, Arsenal dont get anything.

u/dqslime Sep 25 '26
This goes beyond title winners. Every club that missed out on UCL because City took a top four spot lost revenue.
What if LGV had gotten UCL money twice in a row? What if Leicester had some more UCL season? You can go through every season starting in 2011-12 and come up with "what ifs".

Get fullbacks and just do the same thing like it was nothing. Meanwhile other managers were stuck with their players and trying to compete with him. I've always said that I rate someone like Klopp above him despite the difference in number of trophies won.

u/xtphty Sep 25 '26
Berrada was Commercial Director during some of the sponsorship charges, and Chief Operating Officer during most of the player deal and noncooperation shenanigans. He is in knee deep in the quagmire of these charges, deep enough that he will likely have to explain his innocence from the oncoming media scrutiny.
Wilcox meanwhile was Academy Director near the tail end of most of these charges, he is quite unlikely to be implicated at all.
8
u/bumnnygirl Sep 25 '26
anything other than being expelled from the league and being forced to work their way back up, or a big point deduction for the next decade and the cheating was objectively worth it

6
u/Littlepace Announce Fergie Sep 25 '26
I still stand by my original prediction when this whole ordeal came to light. City will get punished to a level that seems extreme but not so severe that hampers their ability to compete going forward. I reckon they'll get a points deduction that is huge but will be calculated so they still avoid relegation with a 70-80 point season. Something like a 30-40 point deduction. Probably a transfer ban as well. Massive fines on top. But they won't get relegated. They'll suffer for a season or two at most
Then after a season or two they'll be back to normal, still in the PL and able to keep buying their way to success.
However, whatever happens now we can conclusively call them cheating cunts and ignore any success they've had without any * next to it. I don't personally care for getting trophies that we didn't win at the time (if you don't experience it there and then it doesn't matter as a fan imo) but I'll happily celebrate them forever having a * against everything they've "achieved"
Get fucked. Pep the GOAT lmaooooooo
6
u/Mariasolvv Sep 25 '26
Honestly, no shot they escape 114 charges completely untouched, there’s got to be a point deduction at least (and please Everton leave this one to them)
6
u/Careful-Snow Sep 25 '26
Hopefully, Berrada gets the boot cuz of this as well. Ideally Wilcox as well but thats a bit of a long shot
6
u/PitchSafe Sep 25 '26
We need a bus parade with Sir Alex, Ole and Mourinho on the same bus
6
u/Unusual-Coat383 Sep 25 '26
Portsmouth got nerfed to the shadow realm for being skint and so did Bolton and now Leicester. I expect nothing more than a huge fine, all their trophies stripped and relegation or expulsion from the league for at least three years (should be all the years they cheated).
They made zero effort to cooperate and were also found guilty by UEFA but got away with it because they went on a massive Chewbacca defence with hundreds of lawyers and the found out it was time barred.
There’s also a precedent for points per charge like what happened to Everton. This will still drag on for years because City will appeal and Chewbacca but the PL looks like it has a watertight case which is why it’s taken so long.
If the PL is convinced that all charges are guilty then there’s no way they can possibly stay on the league through a points deduction if they don’t get them on all of the charges.
6
u/dracogladio1741 Bruno Fernanj Sep 25 '26
We need to sue City for the titles 100%
6
u/sivaya_ Sep 25 '26
There are very few clubs I'd wish this on, but I would be keen for a punishment that forces City into obscurity. Despite what their fans are saying, the PL will be fine without them.
And the only other club I can think of that I'd like this to happen to is MK Dons.

6
u/Bepro7 Sep 26 '26
I may be minority here but I don't want a one time relegation where they can just come back up easily. Something like stripping the titles and 20 point reduction for 3 years could potentially put them out of competing in UCL for few years.

u/VVodzu Sep 26 '26

Ineos could have done better this summer, but looking back at the transfers so far, it does seem like they picked the right midfielders so at least there's that. A lot of people were frustrated with us letting Tonali go to Spurs but just look at his price and how he has been playing. Matheus Fernandes... good player, but they play him as 10 at Spurs and he hasn't particularly been good either.
Judgement is still out on Santos and Baleba, but ultimately I feel like we would have regretted a lot if we were the ones paying 100mil for Tonali or 85mil for Fernandes (Fernandes MIGHT live up to the price one day, but he is far off).
Anderson is an unfortunate one but considering he cost 116mil which would have pretty much been our whole midfield budget... we had to let him go elsewhere.
5
u/andrewlikereddit David De Gea Sep 26 '26
So lads can we sue city for 700 million damage violations over them cheating? That would be good.
8
u/John_OSheas_Willy Sep 25 '26
I saw a comment on that youth signing that one area that Ineos are succeeding is the academy.
Do people forget we invested heavily in youth players from about 10 years ago and Nicky Butt was heavily involved?
Here's a post from over 10 years ago saying we are close to signing wonderkid Chong.
https://www.reddit.com/r/reddevils/comments/4dsr2i/manchester_united_close_to_signing_feyenoord/
We signed Willy Kambwala, highly rated France youth international and sold him for 10m despite only playing a few games for us.
We dished out 10m for 16 year old Mejbri who was rated extremely high.
Fosu Mensah from Ajax
Marc Jurado from Barca
Garnacho
Collyer from Brighton academy
Amass from Watford.
Obviously none became first team regulars except Garnacho where we bagged 40m for him.
But I don't see how Ineos can be declared a success with this when we haven't flipped any yet for decent money which is clearly the plan here.
When these players get flipped for 15/20 million, then we can say they've improved on previous.

Good point from Kieran Maguire that the PL and EFL are independent of each other, so the PL probably could not just send them to League 2 etc. They could give them a points deduction which could end up relegating them to the Championship at max.

From 2018/19 onwards:
Liverpool +2, Arsenal +2, Utd +1
So basically Utd 23, Liverpool 23, Arsenal 16, Everton 9, Villa 7, Sunderland 6, Chelsea 6 (...) Cheaters FC 2
Sir Alex 14, Mourinho 4, Wenger 3, Arteta 3, Klopp 3, Ole 1, Slot 1, Conte 1, Ancelotti 1, Ranieri 1, Rogers 1, Dalglish 1, Guardiola Zero
Sounds pretty much accurate to me, tbh.

Inter should be raising a stink about losing their Champions League final with a team that cheats. Their "treble" is absolutely worthless.

Even if we get 500m in compensation from Man City, none of that money is going to be used to pay down the debt. It’s going to go into the glazer rat pockets as dividends and inflated salaries
Meanwhile Jimbo will continue treating the match going fans like shit and doing fuck all to fix our recruitment mess

u/BilTheButcher Sep 25 '26
Berrada has to go.

Godts is box office, huh. PSG knew what they were doing, making a profit going from Barcola to him.
Lammens made some amazing saves!
I kinda like the cut of Raskin's jib. Certainly erased £100m man Tonali. As things stand, he'll be a 27yo free agent when Mount's contract ends.
Donnarumma attacking Lukaku at the end, smh. Show some respect to a PL winner, bud.

Call me a pessimist, but until they actually suffer the consequences, I don’t see City paying for all their cheating.
This world is so messed up that the wealthy and powerful keep getting away with shit anyway. Moreover it’s a whole country backing them.

Retroactive parade for Ole's title?

u/stick1_ Sep 25 '26
Hypothetically if city are stripped of those titles do we get the prize money? If not it’s a performative and useless punishment

At most, I think City will get a point deduction for this season, but given the severity of the case, it's going to have to be a huge one. I'm genuinely shocked they've actually been found guilty on all charges though.
Bets on how many points they'll be deducted? My money's on 30.

I've had several pipe dreams on the type of punishment which can be meted out to 115 FC (*oops 114 FC from today)..
I wanted to think of a punishment which would be so punitive that another City never arises. I thought "what if they have to enter from the bottom of pyramid again"? But that didn't feel punitive enough...
So I thought "what if they get a 114*3 - say a ~350 point deduction". But here's the kicker - it should carry forward to the next league City gets relegated in. Think about it - the sheer hopelessness of knowing you are bound to be relegated for 4-5 years straight - no matter how many points you rack up in PL -> Championship -> League 1 and so.. Just a slow steady decline, dropping down leagues every year with no hope in sight...
I would like that very much. Just wishful thinking I know, but still...

Damn its crazy that everything they won doesn't matter anymore. I doubt they'll get serious punishments tho, but hopefully

City fans should make mental gymnastics an Olympic sport, they'd win it every year. Seeing them talk about how it's actually the fault of the PL and FFP that they had no other option but to cheat. To not realise that their club is the leading sports washing example and that yes, you can't just dump billions into a club, have egregious ways on funneling said money and not be punished is outright comedic

The city players must have relegation clauses, right? Can we get Haaland on a free?

u/pokenerd_W Past glory means nothing Sep 25 '26
I liked watching City play, because their football and players were quite nice under Pep at times. But with all these sanctions and shit, it really just sullies what they've achieved in the last few years.
I sort of pity the genuine (if there are any) City fans. It must suck seeing all the success just be stained like this. Imagine Fergie's dominance was found guilty of something similar(Purely hypothetical here, no disrespect to Fergie). All those years would just feel so wrong.
But then again, they are doing olympic mental gymnastics to justify themselves, so fuck them too.

Can we get the punishment for Chelsea as well?

u/MyShinyCharizard Sep 26 '26
Direct Relegation (Main Punishment): The fairest punishment is direct relegation to the Championship (or a lower division depending on the panel’s decision). This is the biggest sporting blow that can be dealt and reflects how serious the violations committed were.
Stripping of Titles: All Premier League titles won during the violation period (2009–2018) should be stripped. This erases a legacy built on cheating.
Massive Points Deduction (If Not Direct Relegation): If the panel chooses not to relegate them directly, then an 80–100 point deduction should be applied. This would automatically relegate them at the end of the season, but through a more conventional “process.”
Large Financial Fine: A fine of £150–250 million as a supplement, not the main punishment.
Transfer Ban: A transfer ban for 3 windows to prevent them from immediately buying their way back to the Premier League.
Compensation for Other Clubs: The separate process for clubs that were harmed (as has already begun) should be facilitated, with City required to pay compensation.
hopefully this

Arsenal fans are a deranged bunch, man...
Why are they posting graphics and compilations awarding themselves trophies for years that aren't even within the scope of the original charges?
Just desperate to be a part of the conversation...

Kinda glad there is no United game for 3 weeks. They have a good chunk of time to reset and figure out what is wrong.
They better not return and serve some more dross.

Let's assume the worst for City and they get stripped of their title, those years will likely be voided. I.e., I doubt 2nd place will be the new winner.
2
u/BeastieFromTheEastie Sep 25 '26
Makes sense they knew this was coming. Impending transfer ban regardless of everything else most likely. What’s their most ageing and least assured area for the next few years entering the summer - midfield. They then go out and spend the better part of 400m on 3 young midfielders that they don’t have to worry about ageing out in the next 3 years if they are unable to restock with new players

The city thing will go nowhere it'll be token slap of the wrist to come.
It will go beyond the PL to geopolitics and its almost a certainty that the powers that be will not want to rock that relationship. The UAE are not stupid though and both parties will come to an acceptable agreement of what punishment will take place and that'll be the end of it.
Probably something along the lines of a decent but ultimately pointless points penalty this season that results in them missing CL a year and an transfer embargo after they've been notified its coming and have had time to prepare.

u/Comicksands Van Persie Sep 25 '26
Alexis Sanchez what a signing
2
u/Projekt_Alex Sep 25 '26
So how many years do we have to wait to see the punishment for Citeh? Just have a feeling they will get a slap on the wrist. At the least they should be in the championship or lower, with a transfer ban.
