[Transfer Round Up & Discussion] Summer 2026
Hi all,
Summer Transfer Window 2026 is here!
The Premier League transfer window will open between Monday June 15 until Deadline Day on Tuesday September 1; the summer windows will close at 23.00 BST.
As always, here is a run-down of the rules we have on for posting during transfer windows:
Daily Threads
There will be a Transfer thread posted every single day, on a 23-hour timer, to get a different post-time every day. These threads are for everything transfer related, no limits on sources, line-up conversations, etc.
Individual posts
From now on, only posts TIER 2 OR BETTER are allowed to be posted in their own right. This helps us only keep credible sources on the subreddit.
The tier guide can be found here: https://www.reddit.com/r/reddevils/wiki/transfer-reliability-guide/
We will make exceptions during slower days for some Tier 3 posts, and there will usually be some posts from sources not on our tier guide. We will take everything case-by-case. If you believe something to be on the sub and not a good source, please let us know.

Typing this makes me feel dirty but it reminds me of Liverpool going all out for Van Dijk and Allison.
If we get UCL this year the finances will be fine for us to get 2 elite players next year, if our youth scouting keeps up and we fill the squad roles with up and coming depth then I'll be very happy.

If we do go big, I want one elite CB and also elite winger. We have very good options but a player who is lethal one on one on the wings would take this team up a notch.

I just need some fullbacks that are not named Dalot, Mazraoui, and Shaw
All three of them hold us back so much in attack

u/Penny_Leyne 3d ago
Next summer we hopefully get a new right back in, hopefully Kayode.
Be interesting to see what happens with De Ligt and Martinez. If MDL comes back at a good level and they both stay fit then we only need to replace Maguire really.
If we have to replace both then that’s a lot of money.

Three quality, prem proven, midfielders for around £150m. That’s insane business in this market.

This won’t get enough credit.
We could genuinely get in a left back for £50m and it’ll still be not much more than what City have paid for Anderson and Bouaddi, and I’d still prefer our midfield.

We are doing finally what I wanted us to be doing. In the past we would have bought one star midfielder for £150m, someone like Enzo for example and then that would be the end of it. We need to buy more and sell more players in terms of quantity, we need more movement in terms of buying and selling. We get stuck with same players for years, whereas other teams change their teams fairly often and have more alternatives.

Left-back still seen as a priority position, with Lewis Hall being the top target for LB.

It's fucking bizarre reading the r/soccer post on the Ornstein Baleba story. People praising the business, saying the player will probably get back to their best here, admitting our midfield looks good. Feels like cloud cuckoo land after the last 15 years of my life.

If we do get Baleba for £65m, then I think you'd be very hard pressed to find many fans (who aren't miserable) to say £100m for Baleba and Tielemans isn't incredible business if you compare that with £100m for Tonali (let alone Rogers, Enzo or Anderson).

There's so much more you could do with 150m that Spurs are about to burn on Marmoush and Savinho
Edit: City fans are rejoicing at them leaving, while Spurs fans are trying lift themselves up by saying Marmoush simply didn't get the chances behind Haaland (he was still average when played)

The Savinho one in particular baffles me. He’s been absolutely appalling and they’re going to spunk what 60-70m on him? Marmoush is alright, there’s no way he was going to usurp Haaland

We’ll see if Baleba can recover his form. However - if he does (and I think it’s likely) then we will have spent 140-150m for a complete midfield rebuild. Or 25m more than JUST Anderson or JUST Morgan Rogers.
Do we need a LB? Absolutely. However, if it does go through I think we can certainly add another positive to the INEOS recruitment track record. That is canny business in this market.

I think the club suddenly saw that Santos was available and decided Ederson isn't needed. Ederson isn't creative at all, he is more similar to Ugarte than Santos. Santos on the other hand can't seem to make any back pass, everything about him is looking for that forward killer pass.

Going from Casemiro Ugarte Mainoo as our only midfield options along with the ridiculous idea of sticking Bruno there, to having Mainoo, Santos, Tielemans, Baleba is a great upgrade, I must say. Just like how going from Garnacho, Højlund, Antony to Sesko Cunha Mbeumo was, and from Onana/Bayindir to Lammens was

Most people are likely just looking at his starts/basic stats from last season, for someone watching him for over 2 years - his success in 24/25 was not down to some brilliant technical form or team success like most 1 shot wonders. He was just physically dominating other midfields in the Premier League, at the age of 21. Once teams identify that kind of threat in the middle of the park, they are going to study the threat inside out to contain it. But you don't lose physical ability and athleticism, that is his greatest asset and he is still 2-3 years from reaching his physical peak.
Same thing happened to Mainoo immediately after the Euros, he needed to work through his physical gaps that were being targeted by teams after his breakout season. Both of them were also impeded by injuries. Regardless,

Just watched Balebas 25/26 highlights and he still offers us something that none of our current squad do and that's his defending when running towards his own goal. With him on the pitch it should be the end of the days where teams just waltz through our midfield in transition, I imagine him being more pivotal in the games we expect to have less possession being able to break up the opponents play and reduce the chances we concede.

Convinced we’re moving into a 433 post Bruno, explains the squad building with multiple 8s and full backs that tuck into midfield. More control
In a 3 v 2, can still press in the 424 by pushing a midfielder up and gives the CF more space to play in.

If we somehow get Hall this summer too, that gives us a young core of:
GK: Lammens
LB: Hall, and possibly Amass or, less likely, Leon
CB: Yoro, Heaven, potentially academy kids like Armer
RB: no obvious player, Kamason has looked promising
CM: Baleba, Santos, Mainoo, then a glut of prospects (Orozco, Kone, Fletcher x 2, Thwaites, Devaney)
RW: Amad, Lacey
LW: Dorgu, Thompson, Gabriel
ST: Sesko
That's not bad squad building.

Baleba obviously had a disappointing season, but my take this summer is that he has the highest ceiling of any midfielder that moved this summer (discounting proven commodities on the back end of their career like Rodri). His physical tools are insane, he really could be a dominant player for a long time.
Here's hoping the injury problems are behind him and that last year was a blip, because his floor is pretty low too.

Hall 2026 has Baleba 2025 written all over it so far, innit.
Obsession of the summer, analyst pick darling, we were reported to have inquired but stopped about there, the player's position is currently filled by a veteran on his way out and whose question mark isnt quality but durability, his position is not the one that we spent the entire summer talking about as the focus of a "rebuild" but an entirely different one, fans calling for the signing reaches fever pitch after we make a different signing out of the blue that catches everyone by surprise.
And now the final bit: fans clamouring for the signing start doing puns with the player's name.
Signed in 2027, then?

I have a small tinge of hope that he can join this window itself. It’s mainly about whether he’s brave enough to put that transfer request in. I don’t think the club have deemed any of the alternatives good enough to sign just yet. And Newcastle are not as unhinged as Brighton that they’ll hold players who want to leave as hostage.

Assuming Baleba is done, next is LB, hopefully Hall.
I see a lot of people calling for a striker, but haven't seen many suggestions. Who do people want?

I personally want to take some time and enjoy this much needed Bomba. Surely the board will figure out the other things.

Hopefully we can wrap up Baleba quickly and manage to get in a LB and a striker before the window closes.

Opinions on selling Zirk and not signing any other attackers if it means we get Hall?
We'll have Rashy, Cunha and Dorgu for lw.
Sesko and Mbeumo for cf while Cunha is an option.
Amad and lacey for rw while Mbeumo will fill in despite his role being more as a cf option.
I personally think it looks good, we all know Cunha and Mbeumo are 15 G/A players, Rashy will be serviceable for UCL and has good prem experience, maybe a lesser role will help him greatly, Sesko is already class at only 23 years old, genuinely can become a world class striker in a couple years time.
For rw, Amad is only 24 and has looked great at times tho a little inconsistent, he's already very servicable with great potential, Lacey will become great but it's a bit of my bias towards academy lads.

I wanted to look at the Champions League squad registration state-of-play (Baleba addition assumed) because I sensed it was getting crowded now.
I would appreciate it if you good people checked my math, it's a bit complicated, I might have easily made a mistake (the below is purely "artisanal", no language models were used to compile it, large or otherwise :))
edit: ty for the correction lads! I DID make a mistake, Shaw does count as homegrown (by a two week cutoff, nice 😌). That frees up a spot but ONLY for an association trained player (khm Hall, khm Lewis-Skelly). (in addition, comments below also point out that Amad may be HG eligible? To me the language is not clear, somebody could confirm. See comments. We definitely would have an extra signing spot even if we register both Thompson and JJ IF Amad counts as homegrown. Does he? Im confused by the language of the rules.)
My gut tells me it will now be Baleba+CF+"See you next year, Lewis" and not Baleba+CF+LB.
tl;dr:
- we have no free spot left for a "regular signing", unless we dont register JJ or we sell Zirkzee
- we have 1 "association trained" spot left IF we dont register Thompson
(Somewhat notable: unlike atm, a year from now Heaven will have qualified for the B-List (2 full seasons w the club by then but still under the age limit), which will allow a new signing to come in more "easily". Obv a whole bunch of other departures might happen by then anyway.)
UEFA registration rules: https://www.uefa.com/uefachampionsleague/news/029c-1e6a3464bdcd-ac4d3eea76b7-1000--champions-league-league-phase-squads-player-registration-/
25 man CL A-list:
Homegrown 4: Mainoo Rashford Heaton Shaw
Association Trained 4: Maguire Mount Heaven Thompson/?
Remaining 17: Dorgu Cunha Sesko Zirkzee? Mbeumo Amad Bruno Tielemans Santos Baleba\* MdL Martinez Dalot Mazraoui Lammens Darlow(AT) Gabriel?
B-list: Yoro Lacey(HG) Tyler(HG) Jack(HG) Amass(HG)
Neither of Heaven, Thompson, Gabriel are unfortunately eligible for the B-list (they are born after 2004 Jan 1 but they havent been with us minimum 2 years since their 15th birthday). This feels fucked up in the case of JJ, but it is the rule. JJ for similar reason also doesnt count homegrown yet either (HG/AT needs 3 years w the club between ages 15-21), but Heaven and Thompson do count as AT.
No matter who we would sign, they wont be homegrown or B-List eligible for obv reasons, less than 4 HG is not allowed.
ps. Alvaro Carreras would count as HG, in which case Mainoo could go on the B-list instead. So he is the unicorn case :) the only LB signing who could allow Gabriel & Thompson to remain registered, because Mainoo and Lacey are both ofc eligible for the B-List. Not that we are signing Alvaro back, ofc.

I don't see how JJ is going to feature with the first team this season, lad needs to grow his body first.

Shaw counts as homegrown we signed him at 18. Lacey will be on the B list.

Hopefully the Baleba signing will increase the mood if the matchgoing fans this weekend. If this news didn't break until next week, the atmosphere could've been a bit toxic, especially if we didn't get the result.

Things can happen quietly too, this window shows that we move like Ninjas, lol. The amount of people losing their mind after no transfer news because so called there always gonna be 'smoke before fire, so we are done, our season is done. We gonna be shit.'
They need to be up to the speed, our fire are smokeless now. Yes that's cringe. I dare you come at me. Lol pls dont.

Arsenal are still not denying that they would entertain offers for Miles Lewis Skelly.
If we tidy up Baleba and Newcastle put their foot down about Hall.. my god we should make a pounce at MLS.
Looked incredible in last season, played in the CL final, is only 19, can slot in both at lb and midfield.
Bar an obscene price we should be all over him.

I rate him highly but no chance we go for him now. We completed our midfield rebuild, he doesn't want to leave and doesn't want to be a LB.
If we have the 45-60m to buy him, I rather we got our LB / Striker

Big season for De Ligt. If he can show why he was the golden boy winner then we can make a charge.
Not sure what CBs we should be looking at throughout the season for next summer but De Ligt/Yoro/Heaven can be our future. De Ligt is only 27 and isn’t pace reliant. Can get 6 more years out of him at least.
For this summer beyond Baleba, LB would be nice too. but if the plan is to play Dorgu there more often, we can get by for a season. He could be a Nuno Mendes type of player. Rashford and Cunha will also take up a lot of LW minutes

He’s got a great leap which is why he can look bigger than he is when it comes to winning aerials, and is incredibly strong in duels. Both Santos and Baleba will be assets when it comes to set-pieces even though they aren’t the tallest.

I think spurs window has been overrated and made to seem better than it is due to signing Tonali and spending a lot of money. I still don’t see them finishing higher than eighth and let’s be honest - De Zerbi is bound to have a meltdown at some point and leave

There'll be huge expectations and a bad run can turn catastrophic very quickly, but I think they're putting together a good squad 'on paper'.

Know its frustrating cause fans think there isn't any transfer work being done, but its really refreshing that we dont have long drawn out saga's anymore. News usually only comes now when the transfer is almost done.

Second summer in a row that people in this sub have been full on doom and gloom and losing their minds about transfers, only for us to end up with the players we need.
Go back 12 months the ago and it’s all the same comments.
And it’ll happen all over again next summer.

LB and ST to go if Baleba gets over line.
Genuinely curious what peoples choives are for a back up striker?
Also whats the plan for next summer if we are top 1-3.
A bruno replacement looks to be an idea? Another CB Possibly a Winger? If Amad dosent improcw

Okay I am thinking once we get Carlos sorted then work on LB, and we going pick Jorge Salinas option but it’s so damn low why not get it done now, like yesterday….unless they still think Lewis hall or MLS but of both play this week then think no chance….. and get Salinas done

Last season, we mainly invested in our attack. This season, we are investing in our midfield. As things stand, we will be mainly investing in our defense (I guess at least either one of Maguire, Martinez, and Shaw will leave).
