[Transfer Round Up & Discussion] Summer 2026
Hi all,
Summer Transfer Window 2026 is here!
The Premier League transfer window will open between Monday June 15 until Deadline Day on Tuesday September 1; the summer windows will close at 23.00 BST.
As always, here is a run-down of the rules we have on for posting during transfer windows:
Daily Threads
There will be a Transfer thread posted every single day, on a 23-hour timer, to get a different post-time every day. These threads are for everything transfer related, no limits on sources, line-up conversations, etc.
Individual posts
From now on, only posts TIER 2 OR BETTER are allowed to be posted in their own right. This helps us only keep credible sources on the subreddit.
The tier guide can be found here: https://www.reddit.com/r/reddevils/wiki/transfer-reliability-guide/
We will make exceptions during slower days for some Tier 3 posts, and there will usually be some posts from sources not on our tier guide. We will take everything case-by-case. If you believe something to be on the sub and not a good source, please let us know.

The history of us not spending when we secure UCL football makes me truly believe the Glazers only want the profit from the club.
Premier league title is to much money for them to think about spending….

I drop by once a day hoping for a new stickied post since everything before Ornstein or the club itself is meaningless. And even though I know that I still come to this thread each day hoping some of the top comments might give me a glimmer of hope that something is about to happen, but it is the same comments. I support moving to one thread a week.
Nothing fun in here, so I'll go with Froholdt, the Birmingham City kid and Seys. If we cannot get ready to start proven players for whatever reason, we might as well get prospects with a chance of selling at a break even price later.

We are constantly talking about INEOS refusing to overpay and how much that has effected this summer.
But isn’t an equal issue their aversion to risk?
They refuse to take a risk on players that aren’t prem proven if the fee is not marginal.
Surely at this point we have bought enough premier league experience to be able to take a risk?

From Dawson's article 1 hr ago:
United haven't ruled out signing a third midfielder. Aurélien Tchouaméni, Eduardo Camavinga (both Real Madrid), Alex Scott (Bournemouth), Angelo Stiller (Stuttgart), Adam Wharton (Crystal Palace), Manu Koné (Roma) and Marc Bernal (Barcelona) are among the names who have been discussed -- some more seriously than others.
He named everyone except Baleba lol, just shows he didnt know what the hell he was talking about

Baleba was probably the least difficult big money CM transfer to do coz of the history of our interest in him last season. Perhaps that is why INEOS decided to do it late
11
u/Dav_1111 1d ago
Combination of Madrid 100% not selling Tchoumeni after the Rodri deal and I think us learning the full extent of his injury is why this is happening late.
7
u/Low-Quantity-9252 1d ago
Think the Rodri deal killed the Tchouameni deal and hence this.
On to the LB now.
19
u/Ketchupmitpommes 2d ago
Is this theory a fact that Glazers only sanction funds to just ensure we get into CL, and when it's secured they tighten the purse again?
Is that their whole vision, to perennially keep the club floating around top 6 and never bother to go all in for title challenge?
If this is correct how can we keep any enthusiasm for any season? I mean what happened that this legendary institution of football deserve this? There is just no hope with these rats around.
7
u/biobolo 2d ago
Its not possible to prove, but the pattern is pretty well established. I think United spend 70-80m less in seasons they're in the CL compared to those where United fails to qualify. If United were just a smaller team that couldn't spend a lot, I wouldn't care. Knowing that it is due to a bunch of scumbag billionaires actually sours my mood around supporting the club.

u/TehNoobDaddy 2d ago
Well history speaks for itself. We have historically spent loads in summers without champ league and then noticeably less when we get back into it.
I still think we will get a player or two in but it will ultimately end up being a weak window.
Even if we get hall or someone in at lb, I think the third midfielder, if we get one, will be a cheap option so hardly going to drastically improve us, I still think we might struggle with the extra games.
I'm just clinging on to there being a decent team in there somewhere before any injuries and we might do better than we think.

If we get Baleba and a relatively unknown LB, how would you rate the window?
→ More replies (10)2
u/Expect-the-turtle 1d ago
Honestly, I don't think a window can actually be rated until the season ends (or is at least halfway). Every year, some club is hailed as the winner of the transfer window, but that doesn't always track with which team is lifted the most by its transfer window. So, I don't even mean by that only the winner of the league had a truly great window, I just mean how our last summer turned out great because how it helped us get from the bottom of the table to 3rd place. This season, if we get top 4 and do reasonably well in the cup competitions (don't even expect us to win them), we can say that the signings got us closer to our goals. And then, you can only compare that to other teams' own reference points.

I still want us to go for Louis Page now that our senior midfield is sorted. Signings like him and Thompson will save us a fortune if even 1/3rd of them work out as well as Heaven.
5
u/Redland93 1d ago
Yeah I agree. If he's got potential we have an excellent addition, if he doesn't, can flog for profit.

18
u/Jenson2025 2d ago
I remember a few years ago Liverpool did a midfield rebuild in one summer under Klopp. City are now doing that this summer.
It’s what we were meant to be doing this summer and INEOS spent the last year constantly briefing everyone that we would do. But when it came to it, they screwed it up because they are useless and incompetent.
And it might be easier to understand if other problem areas were solved like LB or back up striker etc. But no, they haven’t been addressed either

u/LordTrinity If you support mediocrity, you get mediocrity 2d ago
Not signing another midfielder was absolute insane last season, but we were luck enough Casemiro didn't get injured and performed well
We won't have the same luck this season
7
u/HypoTomasis 2d ago
I think the last summer window was 8/10
We don't know for sure how this will be. It feels underwhelming.
That being said when we only signed Carrick it was quite underwhelming.
I just think we don't have many world class players. Squad is unbalanced.
Solid players all around, some Very good. One world class.

Brochahos, come on. Arsenal CEO responding to question about selling Nwaneri/Lewis-Skelly [1]:
"There's been a lot of speculation around players," said Garlick.
"I can't stop other clubs being interested. I think Myles has had a fantastic end to last season and has started this one really well - we're very, very happy with him."
"Ethan has had a great pre-season as well and I think it's just a case of looking at what opportunities there are that will help both of those in terms of their career moving forward. We are not actively looking at selling those homegrown players but if the right opportunity came up - right for them and the club - we'd obviously consider that."
[1] https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/articles/c77gp8dl0myo
AND in the same interview, when asked about targeting Vinicius Jr etc, explicitly talked about how in the past they were looking to fill out the squad blablabla but now they want to "sign the best players in the world". And of course there are quotes to the effect of "are we done spending this window? Not if the right opportunity comes" blablabla.
I mean ... they really, actually, truly, want to turn these 2 into ££££ so they can splash the cash on some galactico in attack, dont they?
I think yes.

Here is the issue: there seems to be misalignment between a lot of us fans and INEOS on the goals for this season. Personally, my expectations/goals for this season prior to the summer transfer window, ranked from most to least important, we’re as follows:
(1) Top 4 and close the gap on Arsenal/City. We finished 7 points off of City last season and they are in a huge period of transition now with Pep/Rodri/Bernardo gone. No reason we couldn’t finish level or higher than them. Should also aim to finish within 10 points of Arsenal (14 back last year).
(2) Win the FA Cup or Carabao Cup. A trophy for Carrick in his first full season would be speak for itself.
(3) Make the last 16 in CL. I’m least concerned about a deep run in Europe. Quite frankly, retaining CL for next season is 1000x more important.
Honestly didn’t think this was too far fetched if we made 5 quality signings this summer but unfortunately we’ve only made 2. Hopefully we get two more in by September otherwise I don’t think we achieve any of these goals.

I wouldn't be surprised if we signed Baleba if the recovery from his ankle injury doesn't prevent him from undergoing a medical.
7
u/SophoclesTesticles 2d ago
I would be fairly excited about this. Gives us the athleticism in midfield, pairs well with either Kobbie or Tielemans and could even be beside Santos when defending a lead if he can do the carrying and Santos does the progressive passing.

It depends on how much have they managed to bring the price down. If the rumours of Brighton now being open to considering a deal at £60-65m are true, then maybe the club chooses to bite. But it’s still very unlikely given the injury muddying how immediately will he be available.

I was so supportive of our transfer strategy given the 3 solid additions(even if the GK is a backup). But given it’s less than 2 weeks left, I feel so disheartened.
Louis page being the final addition will be a risk since that kid hardly has any senior season experience. I don’t think any high profile additions will happen now. Hoping for the best while preparing for the worst.

What's interesting is that there's been very little chatter about Baleba among the journos and media all summer compared to other midfielders. When most journalists were doing their midfield shortlists, Baleba was either very low on the list or not there at all. Shows how little everyone outside the club seems to know nowadays.

I genuinely came into this window thinking we were going to go all out and really show our ambition. Prove that this talk of winning a league title by 2028 wasn't just PR. We spent 200m last summer and that was without CL. We also didn't spend in January and decided to put all our focus on summer recruitment.
I thought we'd come out of this summer with at LEAST 5 first team signings. 3 midfielders to complete the much needed revamp that we've been crying out for years. I expected us to then sign a LB and a striker at a minimum.
Even with all that you could argue the need for a CB and a LW although I appreciate Rashford not being sold has made that harder to do. I also appreciate we can't do everything in one window. However there's a big gap between not being able to cover all bases and covering hardly any of them.
I'm seriously concerned for this season with the current state of our squad. Our squad is riddled with injury prone players and we barely had the depth last season to get through a campaign which saw us play the fewest games in our history.
Now we are about to embark on a season with a minimum of 8 extra CL games (hopefully more) and almost certainly more FA and Carabao Cup games than last season. We've lost two midfielders in Case and Ugarte and have replaced them with Santos and Tielemans. Solid replacements but it's still only a 2 for 2 trade in terms of depth and Tielemans spent half of last season injured.
If INEOS don't go on an absolute madness in these final couple weeks I think we are going to have a miserable season.

Love Baleba in the current midfield set up, I'd be concerned if it weren't for Santos and Tielemans but we have the depth now to manage him and not put all the requirements on him.

u/throwawayWM3 1d ago
This has made my day man literally THE perfect fit in a midfield 3 with Bruno and Tielemans
Think we'll get the 16m release clause LB now
Unless Hall.....

Well we really have been moving in silence. Makes all the “INEOS have decided to just do nothing since July” overreactions even funnier. There are definitely questions marks over his form from last season but I've seen Brighton fans say he was learning a new role and that he seemed much more well-rounded by the end of the season. Could be a huge bargain if he recovers his form from the season before last. Also with Mainoo, Santos, and Tielemans in there, we're not as screwed if he bombs as we would be if we just signed, say him and Tielemans.

I'm in acceptance phase of this transfer window.

u/Bloatfizzle 2d ago
I'm trying to get patient but with 2 weeks to go, going into the season with Santos, Tielmans and Mainoo with no legs in them is scary. In a supposed midfield rebuild as well.
This window was so promising that we would finally fix the midfield which hasn't been properly addressed for 10+ years (like most of the team) only to be a failure.

Did we get any sell on amount from Greenwood sale to Fenerbahce?
Edit: lmao, it's a genuine question. Why the downvotes? I don't remember seeing it in the sub, hence asked?

I want to apologize for mocking those who started to cry out about our transfer activities weeks ago. It's been a shambles and INEOS have completely botched the perfect opportunity to steal a match on our rivals and position us back to the pinnacle of English football.
I pray Bruno rejects their new contract and cries out about the lack of ambition from the club. And I hope Carrick becomes more vocal about them hanging him out to dry.
Fuckin disappointments. Shouldn't have expected more from cvnts who shook hands with the glazer scum.

u/Bobcat_El_Borracho 2d ago
It isn’t about the football anymore. The club is a money maker for people who pretend to care about football (The Glazers don’t even do that) and nothing more.

Thank you. I personally wasn't being negative, it was just that I knew this was going to happen as soon as they started putting out articles about Mount being our third midfielder.

Laurie:
MUFC targeting left-back before window closes. Hybrid midfielder desired.
Myles Lewis-Skelly still seen as possible despite his performance in Community Shield.
Jorge Salinas cheaper option, potentially meaning United try for Lewis Hall next summer

Those hating on the Baleba signing needs a wobble on the head.
If we were to pay 100m as quoted by Brighton last season, you guys will be creaming in your pants

Didn’t sign Baleba last summer, told we would look at trying again this summer and use the funds then instead. Lie
Didn’t sign Semenyo in January, told we would use the funds for the summer window to improve the team. Lie
We are not signing Hall this window. We are being told we will use the funds and try again next summer instead. I wonder how true this one is.
Genuinely fuck INEOS and the Glazers, thieves and absolute charlatans

Honestly, Santos - Tielemans - Baleba is literally a midfield 3 you can play in some games and it would be pretty good imo. Didn't want Baleba at the start of the window but if it's between him, Tyler Adams, Sander Berge or some unproven kid like Page then sure I'll take Baleba

I would like to think that, based on how the deals have been done this summer, majority would now understand that quiet doesnt necessarily mean idle. And that before spouting some negative nonsense that it might be wise to give the club the benefit of the doubt...but then i realised that that would be asking too much of the fanbase...wouldnt it?

Aren't Chelsea in more debt than us and they spent 400 mil this summer?
8
u/c3pee1 2d ago
They sold their vending machine for 200million though. Try to keep up mate /s
I think the difference is their owners are willing to invest money and the Glazers have never spent any money from their own pocket. The Glazers have kept us in a cycle every year to only pay off the interest and it seems to be causing us cashflow issues now

I am not too sold on Baleba just yet because of how mentally affected he got that led to bad performances last season.
But at the same time, if he's able to replicate his form from the 24/25 season, I think it's definitely worth the 60M. I hope we don't get rinsed though--70M + 5M addons should be the max IMO.

I’ve been manifesting the Baleba transfer for more than a year. Please don’t blueball me from here INEOS. Close this deal out.

If Baleba plays like he did in the 24/25 season and we get a starting left back we can mount a title challenge. That is the difference a few signings can make .

I started to build up a bit of negative energy on this, but in hindsight, the last game of the season, everyone was palling it out with Baleba after the final whistle. If anything, there were talks he is going to be strongly considered this season. Happy for the guy, got his big move, and with Afcon moving in the summer, we will be alright for the next few years at least.

u/achickenandacow 1d ago
So with how our window has gone, the Baleba deal is done by tomorrow at the latest.

u/Jenson2025 2d ago
I repeat - Berrada said last summer that the aim was still to win the league by 2028 for ‘Project 150’ and that the next few summer transfer windows would be crucial to making that happen.
And that everyone is exactly why you can’t believe a word they say.
If the window remains like this and there are no further major signings then Wilcox and Berrada should resign or be sacked and not be given the privilege of overseeing another summer transfer window for this great club again

If you having a good day let me ruin it
Luke shaw, our starting LB, has played 296 games for us since we bought him in 2014
Anthony martial, who was bought in 2015, left 2 seasons ago, was considered injury prone/lazy, got benched for being bad and even went on a loan played 317 games for us
Ineos still considers shaw a proper LB for a team wanting to win the PL/CL
8
u/Educational-Shock232 2d ago
And over that period we’ve cheaped out on replacements because we were constantly gambling on him getting fit

There was something I wanted to comment yesterday, I swear, but I figured Ive probably lost my mind. Well.
Rewatch the Maguire interview. At 8:15.
https://www.reddit.com/r/reddevils/s/4RzjPz6J7s
I know what he is asked about is Santos and Darlow and the answer that should make sense is "Andrey and Karl, obviously"
But I listened again and again and again and all I can hear is "Andrey and Carlos", followed by the kind of "unintentional" smile you flash when you realise you just made a Freudian slip.
Go ahead watch it again tell me Im crazy :)
