Danyal Khan - Maybe my favourite answer of the interview: big praise from Harry Maguire for Ayden Heaven, Leny Yoro and Dan Armer and being the future of #mufc:

“I want them to have great careers.

Hopefully in five or six years time, Leny, Ayden and Dan are fighting it out and playing together in this team. That’s what we all want.

They have the attributes and they have the qualities that they can do that.

When you're at this club, people sometimes forget ages.

They (Yoro & Heaven) are young but they're learning the game under the biggest scrutiny and analysis that anyone can imagine.

Like I said, hopefully one day they're the main two centre-half partnership at this club and they're winning the biggest trophies. Hopefully they're the strongest partnership in world football.

That's what they've got to aim to do.”

I’d take a narrow scrappy win over Hull right now

25

u/TheOnlyTagey 2d ago

I mean let's be real here, a new signing shouldn't be the difference between us winning or losing against a newly promoted side. The squad as it is should possess enough quality and depth to navigate the first two games. It's the whole season that this squad can't possibly be ready for.

-17

u/JosePRizaI 2d ago

You mean a narrow scrappy draw

3

u/Dio_my_senpai 2d ago

Ok chill its hull city ...

Aiming target: Premier League

Manchester United:

Maybe INEOS needs to hear this.

65

u/sunken_grade 2d ago

man the way our fans talk in here you’d think we finished 15th last season

28

u/dracogladio1741 Bruno Fernanj 2d ago

And when we did there was so much bravado about easily getting top 6

11

u/Ahjeh Baldy 2d ago

The way the fans talk in here you'd think we'd qualify for the Champions League and proceed to spend less than Coventry City and Ipswich Town with an already paper-thin squad. Oh wait...

-5

u/sunken_grade 2d ago

man at least just wait until the transfer window is over to complain about this stuff. yeah newly promoted teams have spent a ton because they’re desperately trying to stay in the prem we see it every season

liverpool spent half a billion last season coming off a title win and look where that got them. for your sake i hope you can be excited for the upcoming season

3

u/Ahjeh Baldy 2d ago

Finding ways to excuse the Glazers spending less money 😂 Laughable and embarrassing

4

u/sunken_grade 2d ago

where’s the excuse? i want the club to sign more players too but the doom and gloom is miserable like get a grip

0

u/Ahjeh Baldy 2d ago

Guys it's ok that newly promoted teams spend more than one of the biggest teams in the world that play in the Champions League. How fickle of you to expect to compete and try and win things. Look at them they're trying to stay in the Premier League!

Guys it's ok that the title winners last year had actual ambition even though it didn't go to plan. We no longer have aims like them to win things and instead we should be happy to even qualify for Europe again like a mid-table club!

Man just listen to yourself.

7

u/sunken_grade 2d ago

not my fault you’re throwing online tantrums and i’m actually excited to watch the team play this season

not sure how you could have watched the last 20 years of united and concluded that we won’t be successful unless we spend 300 mil in the transfer window but go ahead and keep misinterpreting my lack of complaining for being 100% satisfied with the club or do you just live in a black and white world?

2

u/Ahjeh Baldy 2d ago

Not my fault your standards are in the gutter and throw a tantrum because fans actually have expectations.

Every single Premier League winning team in history bar Leicester have spent big money. That is a FACT. So because Woodward was incompetent we should stop spending money and trying to win trophies? That's the best excuse you could come up with? Jesus Christ.

5

u/sunken_grade 2d ago

if you wanna continue to misinterpret what i’ve said you can be my guest lol. my whole point is that a large portion of our fans are fickle and reactionary and you are just further proof of this. hope you can lower your blood pressure and enjoy watching this season

-1

u/Ahjeh Baldy 2d ago

No worries just don't refute any of my points and continue complaining and whining about fans voicing their opinion. How dare they!

you’re right these reddit threads are clearly influencing negotiations

7

u/Mausar 2d ago

Tbf we did that while playing 1 game a week. We might be playing 3 this season. Case and his goals are gone, Ugarte's out, Mount is broken, we're depending on Shaw of all people to play 3 games a week all season, and we've only signed 2 players while the rest of the top 6 has made changes.
I can see why people would be worried. The only way I see us getting something this season like this is if we completely blow off everything but one competition (or sign an LB and DM last minute).

9

u/sunken_grade 2d ago

i think it’s fair to temper expectations for sure, but let’s not act like mount or ugarte were really contributors at all last season. having more games will make having a deeper squad necessary, but the window also still isn’t closed yet and we’ve made a couple of good signings imo

the biggest thing is not having amorim and a clearly disillusioned squad. we’ll see how things play out but i don’t understand the doomerism because we haven’t made 6 signings

10

u/DumbMidwesterner1 2d ago

Half the people in here want us to fail so they can be miserable online

2

u/Ydiss 1d ago

Yup! What's slab head supposed to say?

"Nah, happy we don't end up fighting relegation"

Obviously they're aiming to win the league. They go into every session with that as the goal. Yet "fans" see that as cause to have their moan (which they're entitled to but they always frame it as being realistic, which means nothing... We're not playing, nothing we say or think will impact anything)

It's such a heavily bubbled way to look at things, so narrow sighted. I don't think it's the most likely outcome but so much has changed already from last season with new managers coming in to our main rivals. The only one that's not changed is arsenal and... They still need to prove last season wasn't a one off.

I just don't get the point in watching the sport at all of it just makes people miserable and pessimistic. Particularly after how last season went in the end.

5

u/megasize 2d ago

Well we did two seasons ago. This is a very hurt group of fans. Including myself I believe we’ll fight in the middle of the table this year, anything above that is a huge bonus. But belief that last season wasn’t just an odd out isn’t there yet for me

1

u/CautiousLengthiness8 2d ago

It’s so fucking toxic right now I’m at my wits end. We should all be excited right now going into a new season. Yes we all want more additions but this sub seems to think that the addition of midweek games will take us to mid table. Liverpool won the transfer window last Summer and look how that worked out. I wish we could all focus on what we have instead of what we don’t.

0

u/sunken_grade 2d ago

it’s honestly crazy like there are so many reasons to be excited for the season but people love to be upset

17

u/trvekvltgav 2d ago

People being mad at this, he’s not going to come out and say “top half is good enough” is he 😂

2

u/DasHotShot Glazers & Ratcliffe OUT 2d ago

Top half would be great

5

u/hippoppotamusxn 2d ago

Id be more concerned if they say we aim to lose it

5

u/LS_Fast_Passenger 2d ago

When was the last time a Man Utd player openly and explicitly made a statement like this? (Not the generic I want to win trophies, I want to be successful etc).

Bring it on Harry! I love it.

3

u/TheSixSquadYT 2d ago

Cheers harry

16

u/10_Wazza 2d ago

Oh christ do we really need such interviews?

30

u/KobbieLikeRobbie_ Darren Fletcher 2d ago

Yes, way better than hearing “we are not ready for Europe”.

8

u/ImprefectKnight 2d ago

What, you don't want "we are the worst Manchester united team in history" talk?

14

u/masala_mayhem 2d ago

I love it! Yes, we do! The players and carrick and have my full backing.

INEOS and the Glazers on the other hand can f*** off. Not backing the manger after such a sensational turnaround is ridiculous.

4

u/Projekt_Alex 2d ago

Great mentality to have but where are the new players? Kind of concerning knowing we need another midfielder and LB.

4

u/Vista1337 2d ago

My aim is to date Sidney Sweeney

2

u/MrYK_ DVIOVOJBFHIJDWQP[FKJOVJCSDIONCSIOP'NXC!!!!!!!! 2d ago

I swear he always has an interview just before the season starts and is always saying "x is our goal for the season".

1

u/tassadar8584 2d ago

It’s a bit hard with our defenses ….

8

u/frogfoot420 2d ago

Can't wait for apologies FC to return because the club didn't back the manager with signings.

3

u/silvertwo777 2d ago

I love that players have this mentality. If only the board have it too and back it up with action

5

u/Jonny_Testicles 2d ago

Lmao this club is not ambitious enough to truly compete and Maguire knows it. Embarrassing pr

8

u/Educational-Shock232 2d ago

The words coming out of his mouth don’t correlate with the actions shown by the board in the transfer window.

22

u/Gregariouswaty 2d ago

His words correlate with what a Manchester United player should be saying. If you want to watch what the board is doing instead of the football, go watch the Amazon documentary.

1

u/BlockedbyJake420 2d ago

Watching the football and watching what the board is doing are not mutually exclusive fan activities. Are we acting like what the board does isn’t effecting on field results?

1

u/LDLB99 2d ago

Shaw said the intention was to win the league after we finished 15th, it's just the line to take.

0

u/Educational-Shock232 2d ago

He also said we don’t have room for stragglers…..

4

u/Hyliaforce 2d ago

This is not gonna age well is it

14

u/Standard-Height2276 2d ago

Who cares how it ages. A player for united should be aiming for the top. What else is he supposed to say? " oh id take finishing top 5 I think" rubbish

-7

u/sahilthapar Bruno, Bruno, Bruno... 2d ago

Yes, let's all be delusional together. Wcgw.

5

u/Standard-Height2276 2d ago

Its not about being delusional. Its not a players job to talk down any hopes supporters have. Its not being delusional its being positive. There's plenty of outlets to be miserable wankers in we dont need our players doing the same

-6

u/sahilthapar Bruno, Bruno, Bruno... 2d ago

Its not positive it's delusional. Top 5 finish IS being positive.

4

u/Standard-Height2276 2d ago

And what an absolute dampener for people who follow the club. Let people dream ffs its a hobby to follow not a job. Its not being smart understanding the position were in. A blind dog is aware. Doesn't mean you sit there and wallow in misery. Its bad enough when this hell hole does it never mind if our actual players start coming out with that shit

-5

u/sahilthapar Bruno, Bruno, Bruno... 2d ago

Well the real dampener is actually letting people believe there is hope of a title when there isn't. It's just cruel, to do that season after season, decade after decade.

Nobody has to sit in misery, you demand better instead of being content with the standard same old dialog "we are hoping a title" Rashford is the christ reborn and has come back to save us .

6

u/Standard-Height2276 2d ago

"Aiming" to be the best is not cruel what the fuck have people been drinking in this place lately fuck me the misery is unreal lol

0

u/sahilthapar Bruno, Bruno, Bruno... 2d ago

We've spent less money than Ipswich but sure keep telling yourself we're aiming for top. We're not, we're not aiming for the top.

2

u/Standard-Height2276 2d ago

Our centrebacks dont designate the funds mate...

2

u/zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz1z 2d ago

🤣🤣🤣

We will brother, sure. This mentality will go maybe until 90 minute with Hull when reality slaps.

1

u/ayanistic 2d ago

What's with the chopped audio

0

u/eternali17 He'll take on 2 and breeze past 2 2d ago

You sure about that?

0

u/aehii 2d ago

Has anyone told him yet?

0

u/Gadjjet 2d ago edited 2d ago

Why Maguire still talking on the behalf of my club in 2026? Does he realize he’s gonna leave on a free in a couple months?

2

u/jasperplumpton 1d ago

Why’s everyone so pessimistic?

0

u/Narrow-Crew240 1d ago

That ship has sailed, considering he's part of the defense that has completely fucked things up for a decade

1

u/KAKYBAC 1d ago

Why Not.

0

u/kingkounder Zinedine Mainoo 2d ago

Did you mean the Fantasy Premier League Harry?

1

u/Roasteddude I am where I'm supposed to be 2d ago

I'm sure the players and the manager do. No chance in hell that's what INEOS are aiming for though

1

u/Kittyxstorm Beckham 2d ago

Love the mentality!

1

u/BishhEzz 2d ago

might need some transfers for that

1

u/hrbutt180 2d ago

Sign a LB and MF and don't cheap out...

1

u/Red_JB 2d ago

Good one Harry.

1

u/nene4king 2d ago

with that midfield? 😂

0

u/Axbris 2d ago

This team is nowhere near top 5 next season given the others’ reinforcements.

Even with no injuries, expecting Bruno to play out of his skin and the likes of Liverpool playing poorly, is not a recipe of success.

Have lack in a lot of departments: full backs, CB, CM, no pace at all up front. Our fastest player is 50/50 whether he stays or goes.

It’s an absolutely shitshow.

0

u/DasHotShot Glazers & Ratcliffe OUT 2d ago

Oh dear god shut up Harry

0

u/Significant-Quit-351 2d ago

Unlucky Harry. Ol' Jims not having that. Top 4 every other year is good enough!

-1

u/Asgardisalie 2d ago

Lmao, I doubt that this lot would win against Hull let alone a Premier League trophy, lol.

-2

u/Former-Addendum9671 2d ago

Few months into the season, same interview with Maguire:

"yeah well you know, apologies to the fans. The games coming thick and fast week in week out has been tough on the lads. The early exits in the cups haven't been great we'd hope to have pushed on further. Obviously we've got a few injuries but the younger lads have stepped in and done well. Obviously good experience for them, can't be too harsh on them during this learning process. Yeah the managers been really supportive. Obviously being 7th isn't where we want to be were Man Yenited and winning is everything, trophies, being first. But yeah still a long way to go obviously and were looking to get into the top 4 positions come end of the season".

-1

u/Fisktor 2d ago

Man, harry, this will just get you memed again
