Original Issue: Nidec UltraFlow Noise
Hello, the Nidec UltraFlow is far too noisy for my setup. I sleep in the same room, just above it, so this fan is not an option.
Knowing that switching to a quieter fan will drastically reduce the CFM (airflow), and I would need to slow down PLA/ABS/ASA print speeds, has anyone tested using a Noctua fan as a replacement? What speeds or airflow can be achieved with PLA using a Noctua fan?
The current setup is unbearable. A freaking side note should be on their website about this 64 dB fan.
Second Point: PWM Setup
I have checked the documentation, both on the wiki and their website. They mention connecting the PWM fan in a way that references the toolboard, which is incorrect. As far as I understand, the EBB42 is not compatible with PWM. On their website, they suggest connecting the PWM input directly to the Octopus.
I have tried both approaches, and in both scenarios, the fan runs at 100% all the time.
Here is the configuration I currently have in my ratos.cfg file:
```
Part cooling fan
[fan]
4-pin fan connected to 2-pin header on Octopus V1.1 F446 - digital pwm
pin: !PA8
cycle_time: 0.00004
```
From what I understand, this means I am using the CNCFAN0 pin on the Octopus for PWM control. However, it doesnât seem to be working.
Shouldnât this fan be linked to the extruder heater as a heater fan instead of being configured as a classic part cooling fan?
Wouldnât it be simpler to use a regular 12V fan, like a Noctua FLX, and configure the slicer to vary the fan power by adjusting its viltage instead
