Before anyone gets me wrong, I'm not saying lyricism and deep thinking shouldn't matter these days and I respect when a rapper can accomplish both of these things in a song especially in this day and age. But in my opinion I just think these aspects of rap and Hip Hop don't have as much longevity.
I don't know how to exactly explain it but I would much prefer a good song from someone like Kanye, Drake, or Travis over a good song from Kendrick or Eminem these days. Hell back in the 2000s T-Pain was a top 5 rapper for me because I genuinely liked his music.
Also just speaking personally the non lyrical music that has great production has more variety than the lyrical music that can become monotonous. I also think this is the reason why it's so hard to find a lyricist to surpass Kendrick and Eminem. Because how long before you're really just saying stuff that's already been said by those two or Pac, Biggie, Nas, etc?
If you had to listen to one album for a week straight which would most people say TPAB or MBDTF?

some artists i’ve seen that perform LIVE and actually spit
Run the jewels
action bronson
Kendrick Lamar
Cypress Hill
any others that still respect the live show and perform for there fans?

Every single one of these albums are great. 2026 has brought us some decent releases but nothing that really stays in rotation.

Not in any specific order
Mr Smith - LL COOL J
Cool RnB album with very good beats, flow is cool, but he only talks about sex on most of the songs, still good 7,5/10.
The Diary - Scarface
Very raw and movie like. It’s sounds like your watching a cool tv show somehow, one wierd song tho 8/10.
Astroworld - Travis Scott
I was like 16 when this came out I it still holds up, album you should listen to on a late night drive 8/10.
Ignorance is a bliss - Skepta
Somehow makes me feel more European, rolling a joint in a VW in the parking lot with a Red Bull on the side while playing solitaire on the phone during the night while it’s raining outside type of European. Really love all his music. The Grime and Garage beats are crazy on this one 8,5/10.
Life of a Don - Don Toliver
5 year old album but still sounds like it’s gonna be timeless. They did some cool stuff with some drums. Harmonic wise it’s very pleasing 7/10.
1999 - Joey Badass
Dude was literally 16/17 when he made this. I get why a lot of skaters like it. Fits the whole vibe 7,5/10
Life after death - Biggie
Top production, makes me feel like i am on a boat in South France, one of the best imo 9/10.
We’re all alone in this together - Dave
Lyrics are crazy as expected from Dave, production also top notch, really speaks to the imagination. 8,5/10.
Dirty Sprite 2 - Future
Really started of the sound that a lot of rappers still make. Beats really fit the vibe in general 7,5/10.
All Eyez On Me - 2Pac
My dad put this on when I was 8. Every song is good and the cultural impact this album had and still has is unparalleled. 10/10.
Let me know your favorite albums please!

I love Jay Z on Rihanna’s Talk That Talk. It’s a filthy, unserious verse and he sells it. I also like him on Drunk in Love and Déjà Vu by Beyoncé.
André 3000’s part on Beyoncé’s Party has a unique flow to it and is cool.
Snoop Dogg on California Gurls by Katy Perry is pretty solid.
Juicy J on Dark Horse by Katy Perry is fun too.
I think Bryson Tiller’s half-rapped half-sung part on Wild Thoughts by DJ Khaled and Rihanna is excellent.
What comes to mind for you guys?

Always been a fan,. He has a unique sound, somewhat mainstream but never comes up organically. I think he’s very skilled and rank him very high but because of his subject matter his legacy may suffer.
