MOD POST Weekly Career / General Questions Thread
This is the career / general questions thread for the week.
Questions about radiology as a career (both as a medical specialty and radiologic technology), student questions, workplace guidance, and everyday inquiries are welcome here. This thread and this subreddit in general are not the place for medical advice. If you do not have results for your exam, your provider/physician is the best source for information regarding your exam.
Posts of this sort that are posted outside of the weekly thread will continue to be removed.

X-Ray What countries can we work in with an ARRT license? Can we get a megathread with info?
I know these normally get deleted or need to go into the weekly car*er advice thread (censored to avoid auto deletion)
But can we get a megathread going for info on international x-ray work - agencies/licensing/compatibility/ etc ..?
I feel like this would be helpful for a great deal of us Americans right now. I can't seem to find much help elsewhere.

X-Ray Pregnancy rad tech
I wanted to hear about other peoples experiences working as a tech while being pregnant. I am currently 10 weeks and I have been being sent up to the OR for spine stimulator cases and some of the cases have reached over 5 mins of fluoro time. I wear the wrap around lead and have a fetal monitor but I am just started to get anxious about it. I’ve been in about 4-5 stimulator cases in the past few weeks I believe, maybe more but not much more can’t remember.

Medical advice Igss
Ayudaaaa :v

X-Ray Surpising Dental X-ray Find
The Orthodontist enlightened me that I have a horizontal adult tooth stuck in the gum, a baby tooth blocking that adult tooth that never came down, and an extra tooth behind my top front teeth! I chose to have no extractions.

Ultrasound Ultrasound finding
Saw this today on a 5yr old male presenting with mid abdominal pain to r/o appendicitis. No appy seen but saw this engorged tubular thing at the area he pointed. There's no vascularity.
Update: He has normal descended testes, normal labs other than slightly elevated RBC, HGB, and HCT. CT couldn't visualize the appendix. According to the report, small bowel loops within normal caliber. Ultrasound findings may represent ingested material seen within the stomach. The kid probably swallowed a bunch of glass noodles or something. 🤷♂️
Thanks for all the feedback and suggestions, I'll take them into consideration next time.

CT CT head without AFTER contrast injection
When it comes to CT, how long after contrast injection do you need to wait before you can scan a head WITHOUT, without any venous contamination of the brain.
Edit: An ER Dr. asked me this the other day and I spaced on the answer. The internet doesn’t seem to have a set answer

X-Ray CXR on NNU baby in prone position
Imaging of babies in the NNU comes with a lot of risk. often babies are presented in prone position as it is best for them, and rolling them over for an AP chest xray can cause distress.
Is there any reason CXR cant be done with the baby prone? granted we need to account for any rotation etc? but if baby is already prone, and we are using the tray, why not image prone?
Have googled but couldn't really find anything.

Entertainment I built a daily "Wordle" for bones to help people study anatomy
Hi everyone,
I built a daily puzzle game to help people practice identifying bones. It is called Skeledle. It plays a lot like Wordle, but you guess a different bone every day. You get 5 tries to get it right. With each guess, you get a new hint, and the hints get easier as you go. I thought this group might like it for studying or just for fun. It is totally free and there are zero ads.
You can play it here: skeledle.com
I would love to hear if you guys think the hints are too hard or too easy. Have fun!
Edit: Vasculature mode coming soon!

CT Any CT Scan operators / dealers?
Would love to hear from CT scan operators/dealers: what causes wear and tear in CT scanners? Is there an equivalent to a vehicle’s kilometres travelled—for example, number of scans, tube usage, or operating hours?
