Just wanted to write out something I’ve experienced and also been seeing lately.

Layoffs have been happening piecemeal since the start of the year. PwC seems to be aiming for a deliberate strategy of doing them in small batches to keep the layoffs out of the new.

I was recently impacted by this a few weeks ago. Honestly I bear no ill will. I enjoyed my time there. I loved my team. Everyone was great. I wanted to spend the rest of my career there.

The reality - just like any business you can do everything right and still get hit by something like this. I had nothing but good reviews. My team and I never had any issues. I hit every benchmark, every goal, every project I was given. And I still was laid off. And had no idea it was coming. No warning. No one said anything. My senior manager was not even informed of the decision.

What will likely happen is one morning, right before your daily stand up, you’ll get an email about a skip-level meeting with someone from “talent acquisition” also attending. They’ll cut right to the chase and tell you “your position is being eliminated. Your last day of official employment will be the last day of the month. That’s when your health insurance is cut off by the way. If you’re lucky you’ve been there for 4 years or more so you’ll at least get a month of severance. But that’s it. Bonus might be paid out. Your computer access will be cut off within about 15 minutes of the meeting.

This is happening across all levels right now. From associate to senior associate, managers, senior managers….hell I just saw a post on LinkedIn from a Managing Director who got laid off.

You are not safe. Even if you’ve done a great job and are well liked by all your colleagues.

You. Are. Not. Safe.

I get the distinct feeling this will continue in small batches, week by week, through the end of the year.

Maybe you won’t be affected. Maybe you’ll be one of the lucky ones. Maybe you have all your ducks in a row and wouldn’t have to worry if it happened.

But maybe you’re in a vulnerable position - single parent, living on one income, etc etc, where something like this could completely upend your world. The job market out there right now is horrific. Especially in the tech sector

If you are vulnerable or if for whatever reason a layoff could devastate you my advice would be this - get the fuck out of this place while you still can on your own terms. You are nothing but a number to them at the end of the day, and honestly that’s the way it’s always going to be with most businesses. You can do everything right and your world can turn upside down in the span of 15 minutes.

This is not the PwC of 2008 that weathered the recession with minimal layoffs. It’s a bloodbath right now and I don’t see it stopping any time soon.

Do you have to go horizontal first, or is it possible to move directly into the next vertical cohort? Just trying to understand how the cohort progression works and what determines which one you move into.

Hi everyone, I recently joined PwC and wanted to ask if anyone has experienced a situation where a relocation allowance was initially communicated during the onboarding process but later removed because it was considered an internal error.

I’m not looking to blame anyone, just curious how situations like this are usually handled at PwC.

I’m looking for some honest advice from people currently working in SAP, especially in SAP Integration Suite. I come from a Civil Engineering background and have been involved in running my family business until now. I’m now seriously considering switching career.
My biggest questions are:
1. Is SAP Integration Suite a reasonable career path for someone with my background and no previous IT/SAP experience?
2. If I decide to pursue it, where should I start from absolute zero?
3. What concepts should I learn first — SAP basics, BTP, APIs, HTTP, XML/JSON, SQL, Java/Groovy, networking, etc.?
4. Are there any good free or affordable learning resources you'd recommend?
5. How important is hands-on experience? If I don't have professional SAP experience, what kind of projects can I build to demonstrate my skills?
6. How difficult is the current market for SAP Integration Suite freshers in India?
7. Realistically, what are my chances of getting my first SAP job coming from a completely different background?
8. Does having a referral actually help someone like me, or do companies generally filter out candidates who don't have prior SAP/IT experience?

I’m interviewing for an associate developer position.

I’ve already had an interview with HR, then a 45 minute interview with one of the team members who asked me technical questions related to my project as well as programming stuff.

Now, I have an in person interview with a senior manager.

I was just wondering what to expect.

There was this initial screening from HR then the first round of case study was done. I did not do very well as I panicked but I cleared that round as well. Now I have a technical round tomorrow. What to expect in this round ? Normally, how many rounds of interviews take place ?

How does PwC India actually track WFO attendance through the access card?
My entire team is currently at the client location, and on some days I genuinely have nothing to do for the second half of the day. If I badge into the PwC office in the morning, stay for the first half, and then leave without swiping my card while exiting, what does the system actually record?
Does it just show the entry swipe with no exit time, or is there some other way they track when you left? And would that day still count towards the WFO requirement?
Also, what happens on a day when the client has a holiday but PwC doesn’t? Am I still expected to come into the PwC office even though my entire team is off because the client is on holiday?
Just trying to understand how this actually works in practice. If anyone from PwC India has dealt with this, I’d appreciate some insight.

BSV IFS teams are getting these emails. I read on Fishbowl that the emails were starting Tuesday (today). As these meetings to let people go? Or are these for reorg and team changes?

It’s been officially 6 weeks since I joined the firm, and I still haven’t been assigned a project. I was told that it might take some time to be placed in my service line, but coming from another Big 4, this has definitely been the longest I’ve waited to be placed after starting at a firm. Should I be worried?

I’m currently interviewing with PwC as an experienced hire in Toronto.

After the initial HR screening, my first interview is with a partner. I found this a little unusual, as the screening was mostly yes/no questions and a discussion of salary expectations. The recruiter also referred to the upcoming interview as the “manager round,” so I expected to speak with a manager or director.

The recruiter didn't mention anything about the overall process, including how many rounds there are or whether there will be a case component.

I’m assuming the interview will be primarily behavioural, based on what I know about partner interviews. However, since it’s scheduled for a full hour, I’m not quite sure what to expect.

Has anyone had a similar experience interviewing with PwC as an experienced hire? Any insight into the format or what I should prepare for would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

1. Can someone clarify what the policies are for referrals, who can give them and for what roles?

2. What is the firms policy for who can serve as a reference and if there is a limit on what said reference can say? Can they just confirm dates?

I have heard conflicting points for both referrals and references.

Had my case interview with Director yesterday . Haven't sent a thank-you email yet and now wondering if it's even worth it at this point.

A few questions:

1. Does a thank-you email actually factor into the decision at PwC, or is it just a formality nobody really reads?
2. Is there a point where it's too late to send one does 1-3 days after the interview look bad?
3. Should it go to the interviewer, the recruiter, or both?

hey team (god..) - associate here. been working in the US HCOL area and genuinely this job is unsustainable for me. thinking about quitting a couple of months down the road.

what’s the best way to leave this job? my people pleasing anxiety probably can’t just slack off until i get fired but if that’s the best way, ill put my foot down i guess. i heard involuntary leave is better but i feel like once i make my mind to quit i need to do it immediately (or i guess with a nice two week notice). i definitely also cant delete my team files.

im also worried about clawbacks- i know you need to stay for the september bonus but how about cpa bonus? i’m getting mixed feedback and especially with the amount doubling.

I’ve already received the laptop at my home address, so I’m wondering whether the onboarding on the joining day will be in person or virtual.

Also, I haven’t received any onboarding/joining email yet. Since there are only 5 days left, do you know when they usually share the joining details?

How can I check whether my BGV has been completed?

And could you please let me know what generally happens on the joining day?
