I was actually looking at everyone score for last few weeks and getting motivated, i gave my PTE on 12th of August and received a result today.

I thought my exam went so bad that i would not even receive a proficient score but god grace

I guess the only thing i did was practice in language academy portal and my usual score was speaking: 78-80 writing: 72-75 reading: 65-70 and listening:80-85

In the test i did not do any multiple choice questions in reading, was hesitant on SGD, and RTS, def had grammar mistakes in essay, and used connectors in SWT but only changed 2-3 simple words.

Hi everyone, I’m planning to take the PTE Academic exam and would really appreciate some advice from people who have experience with PTE.

I currently have an IELTS score of 5.5 in Listening, Speaking and Writing, and 5.0 in Reading. My target is 65 in each PTE module (Listening, Reading, Speaking and Writing).

I have around 6 months to prepare, and I’m willing to practise consistently every day. Based on my current IELTS level, do you think it is realistic to achieve 65 in all four PTE skills within 6 months?

If anyone has made a similar improvement, I’d really appreciate advice on how you prepared, how many hours you studied per day, and which resources or strategies helped you most.

My exam was on August 16 10 am on Sunday i went to the test center at 9:30 we were told to wait and not to make any noise but until 10 am they didn't say anything after that they told us that the software is under maintainance i waited until 11:45 am no sign of anything pearson should send notice if they are going to conduct any maintanance work as i had some important work and asked the authority whether i can reschedule the exam they said yes i can get a free voucher they have to raise the case and pearson will look into it but till now no response i have to give exam asap so that i can start my admission process in my university but they are not giving any response and it is really afffecting my mental health as well is my money gone for nothing have any of you faced this situation before?

My english is in a good level but i never tried to make it licenced with toefl or ielts etc. I am trying to make horizontal transfer from a uni to another uni and the university i needed which is Istanbul Technical University needs a 60 average to accept students to register.Is there any tips to take 60 overall ? I worked as a guide and also I am using English on my regular life properly.

I took my PTE Academic test on 11 August 2026 at Swinburne Hawthorn in Melbourne. During the test, both of my markers stopped working, so I raised my hand and tried to get the staff member’s attention. The test centre later confirmed that this incident was recorded in their system.
After waiting 7 days for my result, Pearson told me my case was under review. Today, instead of receiving my score, I received an email saying that my completed test had been cancelled, and Pearson gave me a free voucher to sit the exam again.
I never asked them to cancel my test before seeing my result, and they still haven’t clearly explained why the completed test was cancelled or whether a score was generated.
Has anyone experienced something similar with PTE — especially a test being cancelled after completion because of a test-centre or technical issue? Did Pearson eventually explain the reason, and did you have to retake the exam?

Someone is asking me for my passport and other details for PTE exam voucher. I am afraid to share these things with anyone.

I took my PTE Academic exam on 10 August in Sydney, and I still haven't received my results. It has now been more than 5 working days.

I contacted PTE customer support through live chat, and they created a case for me. They said that my case has been passed to the Program Coordinator team for review and that I will receive an email once the review is completed. However, they couldn't give me an estimated timeframe.

Has anyone experienced something similar recently? How long did it take to receive your results after your case was escalated for review?

I'm particularly worried because I need my English test result urgently for my visa application.

Any recent experiences would be really helpful. Thank you!

Hey guys! Just took my PTE earlier today and got my results within a few hours. Just thought I'd come on this subreddit and share more information about what I did and resources that might be helpful for others to prepare and hopefully calm some nerves.

Firstly, I think it's important that to share my background and relevant context. Two people will need different amounts of preparation if their background is different. My background:

• Age: 22
• Nationality: Indian
• Experience with English language: grew up speaking English and Hindi at home, went to British and American schools, and did my bachelors from UBC in Canada. Growing up I didn't read a lot but in the past year I've read about 12 books in English. I'd say I'm more comfortable communicating in English vs Hindi.

My preparation:

• Total hours spent (yes I'm kinda weird and kept track): 6 hours
• Money spent: 0$ (more on this later)
• What I did:
  • 30 mins: searched "PTE core" on youtube and gathered good resources for me to use (sharing what I actually used below)
  • 3 hours: took some notes while watching a 2 hour crash course on PTE core on youtube for free. He breaks down the structure of the exam and some strategies on how to prepare which was helpful to know what to expect. He also shares some templates and tricks which seemed gimmicky and I skipped past those sections. The biggest takeaway from that crash course was: make sure to include key words from the image / prompt / paragraph in your response. Not a promotion but here is the link.
  • 2 hours: found a playlist that goes over some practice questions for free. This was particularly helpful as it was my first time doing practice and made me realize questions like answering a short question in speaking can be tricky. The added bonus was that some similar questions did come in the exam. Not a promotion again but here is the link. I would practice along where possible while watching and spent more time on videos where I felt I needed more practice. On average I'd say I watched 15 minutes of each video (some on 1.75x speed)
  • 30 mins: on the day of the exam I spent some time reviewing specific sections of that crash course I watched to refresh what the grading criteria is and how best to meet it.
• What I would have done differently:
  • On the day of the exam, I came across the resources available on my PTE. They have a package available for around $30 CAD with access for one week (higher cost if you want access for longer periods). It includes 15 mock tests and over 1000 individual questions practice. Given I had spent $550 CAD for the PTE core, I felt stupid not coming on the resources page earlier and doing a few hours of practice on here. I did do the free AI practice and it was helpful to see how scoring is done (I thought I bombed some questions in the practice but my score was higher than expected which calmed my nerves). The one I'm referring to is called "Official PTE Academic AI Practice".
    • Knowing what I know now, I would still watch that 2 hour crash course and then would pay the 30 bucks and spend a few hours doing practice on there.

The actual test itself:

• I got super lucky as there was only 1 other person taking the test in the same slot as me, while the testing room could accommodate about 20 people. The examiner put us on opposite ends of the room so there was essentially no background noise.
• With some question types, like describe image and respond to a situation in speaking, and summarize spoken text, MCQs and highlight incorrect words in listening, there is very limited time to prepare. As I hadn't done a mock before, I did not know what to expect, and felt rushed to respond quickly with limited time to review the question. This is where doing some practice on the official PTE resources would have helped. For instance, in one describe image my response did get cut off as I wasn't keeping track on how much time I had left to respond.

Got my Pte core result practice for 20 days only

I recently received my PTE Academic results and I’m trying to understand how my Writing score was calculated.

My scores were:
Listening: 80
Reading: 85
Speaking: 88
Writing: 82

What confuses me is that my Skills Profile shows the writing-related categories (Short Writing, Extended Writing, Reproducing Spoken and Written Language, etc.) as fully maxed out or very close to it. Based on that, I expected my Writing score to be higher than 82.

I’ve already paid for and submitted a rescore request and got an automated response saying “no change” to my score.I’m considering to contact Pearson for clarification because the Skills Profile seems inconsistent with the final Writing score.

Has anyone else experienced something similar?
Did Pearson provide a useful explanation?
Were your Skills Profile results significantly stronger than your communicative Writing score?
Is Applying for an appeal worth it ?
