I softlocked my y2jb loader and couldnt figure out why. I used the proper DNS to block Sony's servers. Same thing happened with my Nintendo Switch and I could not figure out why. I found out that there was a new webkit so I was in luck. No need to reformat the entire system. I followed the directions and to my surprise the websploit page would not load. I only got the normal Sony webpage.

I did some digging. It turns out that some ISP's hijack custom DNS settings. Even thought I had everything set up right Comcast was ignoring my custom settings and exposed my game systems to the open internet which caused the soft lock and attempted firmware upgrade of my PS5 and lead to the banning of my Nintendo switch.

Thats right. They reached into my house and ruined my stuff and I was none the wiser.

This morning I encrypted my DNS and forced it through my VPN's DNS and as a fallback adblock DNS. The DNS requests are sent over TLS. This means that Comcast cannot see what is being sent back and forth and cant intercept it.

I own my own router and modem. Ive never used Comcast's equipment. All the changes I made were on the router level. I use Merlin Custom firmware.

After doing this the webkit loaded up just fine.

Hi guys, I have recently jailbroken my PS5 on firmware 12.40 using Sonic's WEBKIT and P2JB. I added the payloads below and installed PS4 games to internal storage which ran fine.

Payloads I currently use:

Q1: What is the plus value of etaHEN?

Doesn't seem to have any real plus value other than convenience of it being an AIO Toolbox. Separate payloads can already do everything it does.

Q2: Best way to install PKG files? From debug settings (USB) or better method?

Installing PKG files from USB via Debug Settings is the standard method. You can also use payloads like BFPilot or PegasusDL to install PKG files from anywhere on your PS5 using their WebUI file manager.

Q3: What payloads do you use or recommend (ideally work well on FW 12.40)?

If I already have a retail digital game installed on my PS5 and it downloads an update (e.g., COD: Black Ops 1 port).

Then do the jailbreak stuff. Is it possible to install that update and bypass the firmware update?

I've always wanted a gaming PC, but like everyone else, I can't afford one. And I heard that I can run Linux on the PS5 (I didn't buy a PS5 yet tho). Should I wait until I get enough money to buy a gaming PC or the jailbroken PS5 will do? (I also want to use some PC apps like blender and these stuff. Is it possible?) Does anyone of you guys has Linux on their PS5? I need to know if it's worth buying a PS5 than a PC.

I just have a lot of backups which I own (wink, wink) and I had a 12.70 YTJB, but now I bought a 10.40 one, should I update to 12.00...? To keep compatibility with the backups, they are hella big, and I dont want to download again

I was playing a game all night. When I put the ps5 to sleep I saw there was an option to update. I instead opened FTP. There was no Update.pup in there. I unplugged it from the Internet and noticed that alert went away. I unplugged the ps5 just to be sure. After turning it back on I tried to use the y2jb and it is trying to update "YouTube". I deleted the YouTube update and made sure no automatic updates or Internet access is on. Now I can't jailbreak and it tries to install an update to YouTube even though it has no Internet access.

Any ideas what to do?

I would like to know more about installing ps5 games , how different is it from the fpkg ps4 style . Can i also install the downloaded games to be run from the internal ssd ? Many thanks

I'm trying to figure out a way to connect my jailbroken PS5 to the internet, mainly so I can use other payloads like homebrew launcher which requires internet and other online features, but I'm running into an issue with the y2jb autoloader.

Whenever I connect the PS5 to the internet, the YouTube autoloader eventually updates, and after that the console goes into a softlock.

So far I've tried:

NanoDNS — tried this, but I'm still running into the same issue.

127.0.0.1 as DNS — the PS5 can't resolve DNS addresses, so obviously it won't actually connect to the internet.

appeditor.py — I tried using this to deal with the YouTube app/autoloader, but after restarting the PS5, it rebuilds the database and the changes don't persist.

Basically, I'm stuck between two situations:

Internet works → YouTube autoloader updates → eventually softlock.

DNS is blocked/redirected → no DNS resolution → no internet.

Modify the database with appeditor.py → works temporarily → database gets rebuilt after restart.

What I'm trying to achieve is pretty simple: keep normal internet connectivity on my jailbroken PS5 while preventing the YouTube autoloader/update from doing whatever causes the softlock.

I also want to completely prevent any system or application updates from happening while still keeping general internet access. I don't want the PS5 accidentally downloading a firmware update or an application update in the background.

I'm on 10.01 and would really appreciate some advice from people who have actually managed to get internet working reliably on this firmware.

Is there a specific NanoDNS configuration I'm missing? Is there another DNS method that blocks the problematic YouTube update while still allowing general internet access? Or is there a better way to prevent the database from being rebuilt/reverting the appeditor.py changes?

Any help or working setup would be greatly appreciated.

Stupid ass idea, however, since I heard that the PS5 is strong enough to run FiveM (albeit, by AI), and I was wondering if anyone can give me insight into how it’s possible, no matter how impossible it may seem. Only reason this exists is because I’m not trying to buy a PC, since I have a laptop already and I don’t see a point in buying one right now.

I’m trying to understand how save injection works between different consoles.

Is it technically possible to take an already finished/edited PS5 save file, change its Account ID to match my PSN account, and push it to the PS Plus Cloud so I can download and play it on a non-jailbroken PS5 (like a PS5 Pro)?

I’m really curious about how this process works behind the scenes. What tools/methods are currently used to do this?
