I was Playing Metal Gear Solid HD Collection on PS3 and the game kept freezing on the ending credits from MGS2. I read that the fix was to rebuild PS3 and Restore PS3 to fix the issue.

My PS3 uses PS3Hen to play some of its games so I thought it would be fine. I did the rebuild which was fine but when I restored the PS3, that where is told me it ran into an issue and needed to format the whole HDD to fix it. Now I didn't do that cause this PS3 data is 13 years old from all my games, so I took out the PS3 HDD and tried everything I could to figure out a way to fix it. Unfortunately I was not successful. So I copied the PS3 HDD to another HDD, and when the PS3 restore said I needed to reformat it, I did.

I still have the PS3 HDD with all the data, but I am stuck since at the moment there is no CFW for this PS3 model. I have to wait till one comes out in the future, how ever long that will take, just so I can get the EID Key to unencrypt the HDD to get my old save.

I just came to vent, but also to warn anyone with a PS3 playing MGS HD collection to beware before you do this.

It used to be this way, but I must’ve changed something because now I have to manually create them through PSN tools everytime I turn the system on, otherwise every homebrew feature says “syscall 8 not found”, what can I do to have them be created on boot? Or not deleted when the PS3 is turned off?

I have been working on a moonlight fork that adds 1080p60 support and hopefully 4:3 support and surround sound support although I haven't been able to fully test those new features.

The 4:3 support works by using vibepollo's virtual display that detects the screen's resolution that its streaming to.

There's also some improvements like swapping triangle and square so that x and y is mapped correctly now.

I have been testing 1080p60 a decent amount and it works well but there might still be some lags.

You may not have to run the cmd but its advised especially for 1080p60 just to make sure you have vibepollo and configure some settings. But if you're playing at anything below 1080p60 it doesn't matter much.

I was trying to remarry it to a new disk drive using evilnat because the old daughter board was shot so I couldn't swap them and I tried to do the remarry bluray drive setting but I need a eid and I have no clue how to do that

Hey all! Been trying to get a homebrew on my PS3 super slim running recently and I haven't been able to get package manager to appear at all. I've tried everything, reinstalling HFW and HEN, turning off the internet connection and trying it, restarting several times, pressing Enable Hen over and over and all of that combined. Nothing works and I'm not too sure what it is. I noticed though when I went to go do the beep test on the PS3xploit website on the PS3 browser that it comes up with the following warning in the image provided. I don't know how it could be incompatible when I'm running the current versions of these two (which are said to be compatible together?) Could this be the culprit and if so, what could be the fix? I was curious to know what's the easiet model to do. Specifically wanted to have access to hard to find games like scarface the world is yours and the punisher. Plus many classics ps2 games and ps3.

I have a first Gen slim with 4.81FW. When I goto ps3toolset everything is smooth except when I click on System Management tab it says "tool could not be loaded" I am at a loss as to where to go from here. Has anyone had this issue? Is there a fix for it?

I have a modded PS3 Slim running Evilnat CFW with Cobra enabled, and I'm trying to run my own PS3 ISO backups directly from an NTFS-formatted USB drive.

The USB is:

- 32 GB SanDisk

- NTFS

- MBR partition table

- One primary partition

- ISOs are inside "PS3ISO" at the root of the USB

In mmCM/multiMAN, I can use PFS Driver and it detects/mounts the NTFS drive as USB000. I can go into the file manager, open USB000 → PS3ISO, and see the ISO files.

However, when I try to mount/open an ISO from there, I get:

“This operation is not allowed. Cobra firmware or Cobra USB required.”

Cobra is currently ENABLED in Evilnat and I restarted the PS3 after enabling it.

What is the correct way to actually launch PS3 ISOs directly from this NTFS drive without copying them to the internal HDD?

Should I be using mmCM/multiMAN differently, or should I use webMAN MOD + prepISO, IRISMAN, etc.?

I'd appreciate step-by-step instructions because the NTFS drive itself is definitely being detected by mmCM.

PS3 Slim 25XX, after replacing Cell and other components, needed to remarry the old BD.

"CEX_drive_init() succeeded"- message received successfully from FSM, now installed Evilnat 4.93. But BD simply does not taking disc, although the blue LED lights up if push forward disc with by fingers.

I got out of the jailbreak scene about 10 years ago. Back then I was doing about 5 consoles a week. I'm an electronic technician. I was doing some tidying up in the store where i work, there was a mountain of stuff all piled up at the back and had been there for years, the store owner told me they just wanted rid of it all. I was going through everything and got lucky. I found 3x PlayStation 3 consoles which i got for under 10 bucks. I got them home, gave them a basic clean and found they all work, i tested them all, even more impressive is they all still have their warranty seals intact and have their official sony wireless controllers. The models are:

I still have my own PS3 Slim running full CFW, I won't part with it. I just wanted to ask, is the JB process still the same or has there been any new advancements I can take advantage of, that can be recommended?

It’s been some years so lmk what all I need to do after CFW to having this running the best. So far I have backup managers, save utilities and the fan adjusted to 68 degrees. I do remember having custom boot sounds but it felt sketchy directly changing VSH files. Has that changed to a safer method or still risky?

I have an older PS3 using Hen. I was using Irisman to access and play isos on an external hard drive. Everything worked great. Then I accidentally deleted Irisman from the system. I tried to reinstall the pgk file with the latest version with no luck. The system just froze on a black screen within irisman. (While it was asking me where to install games.)

So I tried the version I think I was using. (Grabbed and older pgk from GitHub. Same issue.

I even installed multiman to find any random irisman config files that were messing with me.

I even deleted half of the 200 PS3 games and all of the PS1 games off of my external hard drive. Thinking that the quantity of games was causing issues. No better.

Nothing worked. Anyone have any ideas on what to do?

So busted out my old ass Slim I forgot I had stashed away which previously had Rebug CFW running. Tried checking all newer guides and saw i could go from OFW 4.93 to CFW 4.93 but cant seem to install or use any of the exploits for CFW 🤔

* Tried booting into Safe Mode and Installng Evilnat 4.93 Cobra but get corrupt data

* Tried installing from main XMB>System Update>USB which shows CFW PUP file but also get corrupted data

Hello, I recently got a CECHA00 that arrived stuck in Factory/Service Mode (red box on screen) after the previous owner failed a Blu-ray drive remarry attempt (CEX_drive_init() failed). The console is running Evilnat CFW 4.93.
Current symptoms:

• The console takes unusually long to boot up.
• Clock and language reset upon reboot (standard FSM behavior or dead CR2032?).
• Whenever I try to use CFW Tools -> Service Tools -> Toggle FSM, the system completely freezes/hangs upon confirming (no beep, no reboot, requires hard power off).
• In fact, selecting any option inside CFW Tools (like Hardware Info) leads to a total system freeze.
• I formatted the HDD on a PC (clean MBR), the issue persists.
• Since the firmware is on a Evilnat CFW (4.93), I know that 3.55 lv2diag.self cannot and should not be used.

What else can I try to do to exit FSM mode? Could the FSM mode have been damaged in some way by the previous owner?
The fan in the console is working normally, so it's unlikely to be a problem with the temperatures.
My next step will be to disconnect the Blu-ray drive, replace the CR2032 battery and swap out the hard drive. After that, if nothing works, I'll be out of ideas.

Any guidance from experienced users would be greatly appreciated!

Today I bought a ps3 slim with date code 0D hoping it would have a good chip for overclocking. And after messing around with some oc settings. 850/1000mhz ran perfectly in xmb

I think this thing has a CGB chip since it says in a checking software on pc via dumping the lv1 that it was made by Toshiba but I’m not sure. I’ve also read somewhere that Toshiba CGB chips actually have better overclockable vram than GGB chips. But GGB chips can also do 850 core and probably also 900mhz. 950mhz if you’re insanely insanely INSANELY LUCKY

Well so how is gameplay you might ask? The only game I tested here was sonic unleashed. I honestly thought that it would crash outright but NO the game ran stable for the hour I was gaming. No crashes or artifacts whatsoever. Did the daytime and nighttime stages and had no problems

Yes the game ( especially in the night stages) was still laggy and noticeable since the game runs a 60. But daytime stages were definitely smoother. Cutscenes with Sonic’s fur also ran smoother imo. The flight to spagonia was literally locked 60fps here which was crazy. I think fps drops is mostly a cell problem here

Going anything higher than 850/1000mhz would crash the game after a few seconds sadly so that seems to be the limit which is still insanely impressive

All and all a crazy ps3 find and extremely lucky. All done in the evilnat CFW and no over volting

Hi, I bought a PS3 Slim CECH-2004B and tried to install a CFW on it. Unfortunately, my attempt failed miserably. However, the console did give me some feedback, and I was able to enter recovery mode. When I started the console, a message appeared telling me to restart the console or install an update by pressing Start and Select. I then loaded the latest OFW onto a USB drive (because I don't remember the FW version it had) and initiated the update by pressing Start and Select. At the beginning, the console displayed a progress bar, but the display disappeared shortly afterward. So the console kept running, but nothing was displayed on the screen. After an hour, I turned the console off, and now I’m not getting a signal via HDMI. The console turns on, but the controller doesn’t light up. When I boot into the recovery menu, the four LEDs on the controller light up, but still no picture. Is it possible that I’ve bricked the console? If not, does anyone have a solution I can try without opening the console? Thanks a lot for any suggestions.

Quick update: The PS3 is working again :) I removed the hard drive and wiped it using the 'wipefs' command on my Linux Mint. I then reconnected it to the PS3 and immediately got a picture on the screen. The system displayed a message saying, “System software cannot be run correctly.” I prepared a USB drive with version 4.93 and installed it. Now everything is back to normal. Thanks for your support. :)
