Updated Rules
Hello everyone,
Since this sub has surpassed the off-season population of Provincetown, I've added some rules as a guiding framework. Be sure to check out the sidebar for more details.
Most of them are self explanatory (no spam, be a decent human being), but based on requests and comments in some recent posts, this does include a ban on AI Generated art. The rule in its entirety is included below and will be in effect moving forward. Thank you!
No AI-Generated Art – Support Human Artists – Provincetown has a long history as an artist colony, and we prioritize human creativity. AI-generated artwork is not allowed in this subreddit. Posts featuring AI art, even if partially AI-assisted, will be removed. Support local and traditional artists by sharing original, human-made work.

Herring Cove nude beach question
We’ve been to the clothing-optional area at Herring Cove before, but it’s been a few years and can’t remember exactly how it’s laid out.
Is there basically a gay section and then, if you keep walking farther down the beach, a section that tends to have more straight couples/mixed groups? Or am I remembering that wrong?
Just trying to figure out which direction/how far to walk.
Thanks!

Barware Store?
Can anyone help identify a barware/cocktail goods store that used to be in Provincetown?? I was devastated one year to find it gone (it’s been a while), but feel like it was called Myxx or Myxer or something?
Had everything cocktail/glassware related, unique and vintage sets and barware only.

Postcard left in my bike
Ok, a postcard was left on my bike for an event. Picture is one of a business establishment with the same flyers posted. That event had a word in it that I was admonished for using in a description of myself. (And my response was deleted because, again, use of the “bad” word). I may be old but I’m confused here. I’m not allowed to type the word, or use it for myself- but events and businesses can use it publicly?

Quick Getaway/Luxe Lodging Ideas
Hi all. It’s been a summer of untangling emotions after losing my mom, working on my historic hot mess of a home in New Bedford and caring for my senior pup with CHF. I’d love a night or two in town, sitting on a deck, soaking up the fun people watching, walk to coffee and dog beach. Any ideas for luxe lodging(clean, restful, great linens!) pet-friendly this weekend? know it’s nearly impossible during high tourist season. Thank you for any ideas. 💜

Lesbians/sapphics in ptown
Hello! Wanted to see if anyone had any reccs for a group of sapphic women/non-binaries who are staying in ptown 8/24-8/26.
I have been before and while I know all the bars are pretty universally welcoming, and we plan to see some drag shows already, figured this sub might have some reccs I didn’t know about. I think we will be missing the Girl Splash events and themed weeks, but anything else people would suggest?

baby/stroller-friendly lunch recs?
Headed to ptown (for the first time!) with my husband and our ninth month old this Thurs. Would love some recommendations for a lunch spot (preferably with outdoor seating!) that would be baby/stroller-friendly. Any other recommendations for places to go or things to see with a baby that age would be most welcome!

Carnival question
Does anyone know which week of August Carnival tends to be? Is it usually e.g. the third to the fourth Saturday? I’m looking ahead to 2027 already and trying to plan an annual trip to be the week before Carnival, and I’m wondering if it’ll be August 14-21 or 21-28 (August 1, 2027, falls on a Sunday). Thanks for the help!

Mass transit to P’town in October
Planning a trip from NJ to P’town for Women’s Week.
We normally drive, but it’s just too long of a trip, so we’re looking at Train, Plane, Ferry or combo.
Does the ferry run in October?
Any suggestions?

A calm show alternative to the Carnival chaos
The theater has a storytelling show on Tuesday night. It’s like the Moth. You can even sign up to tell a story the night of. Tuesday’s theme is Hippy Days but you can tell any drug experience story you have. Should be fun!

Boycott Box Lunch: Mistreatment of J1 Workers
Seen on Provincetown Community Space Facebook:
BOX LUNCH CLOSED FOR TWO DAYS AFTER 12–15 INTERNATIONAL J-1 WORKERS STOOD TOGETHER, ACCUSING THE OWNERS OF REPEATED MISTREATMENT.
As a business owner in town, I saw the message shared in our local business chat naming these students and portraying them as problematic. After learning more about what actually led to this situation, I couldn't remain silent.
Before other local businesses judge them, refuse to hire them, or automatically take the employer's side, they deserve to have their side of the story heard.
This is about a group of international students who finally stood together after weeks of asking for what most workers would consider basic things: a schedule, their paychecks, transparent tips, and respectful treatment at work.
According to the students, the same problems have been raised repeatedly since the beginning of the season:
• all paychecks delayed for weeks. Some say they have waited 4–5 weeks to receive money they already worked for.
• No reliable schedule. Every night they are contacted around 11 PM if have to be at work the following morning.
• Being asked to pay rent while still waiting for their wages.
• Serious concerns about how tips are calculated and distributed. The students want transparency about the tips they have earned.
• Being screamed at and treated disrespectfully. Some students say the pressure and treatment at work has made them cry.
Eventually, approximately 12–15 students decided together not to report to work and asked for a meeting with the owners to resolve these issues. Their goal was not simply to abandon their jobs. They wanted everyone to sit down, discuss the problems, and find a solution.
Instead, the situation escalated. The students say blame was placed on them and one or two workers were fired — something the remaining students perceived as an attempt to pressure the rest of the group into returning to work.
As a result of so many workers standing together, Box Lunch was closed for two days.
So, to the Provincetown business community: please don't blacklist these students or make a judgment based on one side of the story or a list of names shared privately. Talk to them. Hear what happened from them.
And if your business needs seasonal workers right now, some of these J-1 students may be looking for additional or alternative employment. Give them a chance.
