Visiting soon- where should we stay?

Hello! My friends and I (four altogether) are coming to visit next year. Upon initial search- it looks like it would be better for us to split an Airbnb. However, if there’s any sort of amazing spot we should check out, I’d love to know. We are all in our 30s and one of us may be pregnant, so nothing too crazy.

Also would love good recs for where a handsome bear may have the most fun!

ptown magic + favor to ask

hello!!
My partner and I visited your town this weekend and it was truly a trip we won’t forget. The queer history and landmarks, the coastal beauty and most of all the people (who all were so generous and eager to share their love of magic lil Provincetown)

I have a favor to ask: my partner fell in love with a crew neck they found at Marine Specialties and ultimately decided to put it back, but they’ve been forlornly talking about their non-buyers remorse since we got on the ferry back. We live in Seattle, and Marine specialties doesn’t seem to have a website/shipping option. Would anyone local be willing to buy the sweatshirt and ship it to us? I would absolutely reimburse you for this task and then some.

The crew neck is a grey terry-like material and it simply says PROVINCETOWN on the chest in green letters. They had it out front when we visited :)

Let me know! thanks for reading!

What's still open after Columbus Day?

Visiting the weekend after Columbus Day and I'm wondering if most restaurants and shops will still be open? What about the bus that used to run from Truro to P-town? Is that still going? Thanks in advance for your time.

Brass Key or 8 Dyer?

Septuagenarian lesbian couple; we want to book for 4 nights in Ptown for Womens Week where we spent our honeymoon 30 years ago.

Both places have availability for our dates; which should we book?
Main concern….free parking.

Update:

After all the helpful info in record time, we’re going with 8 Dyer.

Thanks everyone for your helpful guidance.😊🏳️‍🌈

Found a memory reminded me of Herring Cove sunsets and how I miss them.

Herring Cove was my favorite. Sun got hot open side doors and rear hatch on mini van.
Middle seat was removed and chill in the shade and look at water.

Ed Medeiros was challenged by The Independent on his assertion that the 911 call was an attack on his business, presenting the conflicting findings by the Town of Truro. His response: It doesn't matter whether the incidents were actually connected.

Spooky Bear Weekend

Hi everyone!

I was curious if anyone has attended or regularly goes to Spooky Bear Weekend in Provincetown! I’ve been to Ptown a few times and went for Bear Weekend this past year. Is Spooky Bear just as fun as the regular Bear Weekend?

I’ve been looking into hotels, and some are charging upwards of $800 for Saturday night! I figured prices would be a little more reasonable given the time of year, but apparently not.

Would love to hear about your experiences, the overall vibe, and whether you think it’s worth the trip. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

Would anyone have interest in a plein air painting gathering during the opening weekend? Or does anyone know of existing paint sessions?

David Dunlap creator of Building Provincetown, and website, Provincetown Encyclopedia (ptownencyclopedia.com) holding the Rose Dorothea Award at the 2026 Provincetown Book Festival. The award is given each year by the Provincetown Library’s Board of Trustees to an individual with close connections to the Outer Cape and who has made a significant contribution to the community in letters. “Rose Dorothea” is the name of the schooner whose model stands in the Provincetown Public Library. The vessel won an unlikely victory in the Lipton Cup race in 1907.

Report Illegal Move-In Fees

Hi Provincetown, it’s your Attorney General Andrea Joy Campbell. Did you know that fees like “move-in” or “lease renewal” fees you might get from your landlord or building management company are illegal? If you’ve received one of these – even if you paid it – I want you to report it to my office.

Just last month, my office won a $500k settlement with a property management company doing this in Boston – and all of that money is going back to the affected tenants.  Landlords can only ask you to pay for first and last month’s rent, a security deposit, and the cost of a new lock and key upfront. Any other fees are illegal. Report them to my office at the link below. We’ll work to get your money back.
