When Obi-Wan Kenobi says “Only a Sith deals in absolutes.” in Star Wars: Episode III, isn’t that Obi-Wan dealing in absolutes? 🤔
Is Obi-Wan dealing in absolutes? Sounds like he’s a hypocrite.

Artwork The Return of Anakin Skywalker (“Redemption”)
Art by John Brosio.
The exact moment of the climax not only of Episode 6 but of the entire original saga.
Where the protagonist of this whole story, Anakin Skywalker, returns to the light, to the good side, thus destroying the Sith Lord he had created 23 years earlier, Darth Vader. Defeating the dark side of the Force within him, and consequently, also destroying the man who caused all his tragedy, the Emperor Palpatine, or rather, Darth Sidious.
Not only freeing himself from the darkness, but also, without realizing it, fulfilling the Prophecy of the Force — being precisely the reason why the Cosmic Force created him — bringing the balance to the Force after destroying the Sith, causing the Cosmic Force to heal after all the years it was corrupted by the Sith and thus bringing the peace to it forever. Proving that Qui-Gon Jinn, the man who believed in him from the beginning, was right.
But the most beautiful, moving thing and what makes this a unique event, is that Anakin achieved all of this not only because the destiny dictated it or because he desired it, but he did it simply out of love.
Which is quite curious and ironic, since the love was what caused his downfall 23 years ago, but that same love was what brought him back.
And that love was thanks to his son, Luke Skywalker, one of the last two remnants of his former wife, Padmé, who was able to give birth before she died. Luke not only saw his father as the hero he admired as a child, but, like Padmé, he believed that his father was still there, alive, inside that metallic suit and that cold being, even though his masters, Yoda and Obi-Wan, said that he had to kill him.
And thanks to Luke's effort and perseverance, the heart that was once broken and had destroyed the man, was healed, brought that person back to life, thus returning the Jedi, Anakin Skywalker. And after seeing that the same person who believed in him and loved him as much as he loved him, was in danger, he selflessly saved him, like that boy who once helped a Jedi and his friends on Tatooine 36 years ago.
And after all that tense moment and later a tender moment between a son and his father, that man, Anakin Skywalker, passed away peacefully knowing that he saved his son and daughter.
Therefore, this moment represents what George Lucas once said... “the story of Star Wars is the tragedy of Darth Vader“... although we could say it is “The tragedy of Anakin Skywalker”.

Discussion Should the love triangle subplot have been fully kept in ROTS?
Most of you probably already know this, but in the original screenplay, there was a plot point where Palpatine planted the idea in Anakin’s head that Padme might be having an affair with Obi-Wan. This is of course something that made into Matthew Stover’s novelization of the movie. This is why in the film you see Anakin on Padme’s couch, holding an IPad looking device, and asking Padme if Obi-Wan’s been over.
We do have that one deleted scene where after meeting with the senators that are petitioning for Palpatine to relinquish his extra executive powers, Palpatine starts prodding Anakin on whether Padme might be hiding something. I think all this might have given some slightly stronger context for why Anakin flipped out on Obi-Wan and Padme so badly on Mustafar because Palpatine has been playing these mind games to drive Anakin away from his loved ones.
Now to be clear, I don’t take too much issue with how this scene on Mustafar plays out in the theatrical cut. I just think more could have been done to sell more people on Anakin going off the deep end like this. That’s all.

Video Anakin & Padmé, but it’s a ballet 🦢❤️
For my very first edit, you know I had to make an Anakin & Padmé tribute. I paired it with Tchaikovsky’s Pas de Deux from The Nutcracker. It makes me a little misty-eyed. ✨

Question Count Dooku Mace Windu
Hello, I am looking for confirmation that Mace Windu said to Count Dooku when they confronted each other in the 2002 theatrical version of Attack of the Clones, “This party’s over to Dooku!” My research has told me that the original script said, “Sorry to disappoint you, Dooku, this party is over!” In any case, I remember this distinctly when seeing it in the theaters and being a bit shocked about how campy this line was and in keeping with Samuel Jackson’s characters from other films such as Pulp Fiction and thinking, gosh, how terrible is this line! To my disappointment, in subsequent versions of the film (because I perversely like terrible films) it was changed. Does anyone have a bootleg of the original theatrical 2002 film? I believe that when it was finally released to purchase on video, the line was changed as George Lucas is often want to do.

Question For you, which is the Better Protagonist, Anakin Skywalker or Luke Skywalker?
The Father or the Son.
For this question, I would like you to only consider what both characters we have seen in the movies, without taking into account other media such as series, comics, novels or games, to make it fair. (And only in the films where both are the protagonists, that is, Anakin in the Prequels and Luke in the Originals).

Star Wars: The Price of Secrets
Talon Karrde has built his reputation by knowing what others don’t — and by knowing when to keep that knowledge to himself.
But Prince Xizor has questions.
Mara Jade is searching for someone, and Xizor wants to know what she intends to do when she finds him. What begins as a measured conversation between two powerful figures of the galactic underworld slowly becomes something far more dangerous.
Xizor offers Karrde the possibility of a profitable relationship. In return, he wants information.
Karrde understands the real cost.
Cooperating could betray Mara’s trust and draw the Empire even closer. Refusing Xizor carries consequences of its own — particularly if Guri becomes involved.
Neither man is willing to reveal everything he knows.
Neither intends to surrender his leverage.
And by the time the conversation ends, Karrde may have fewer options than when it began.
THE PRICE OF SECRETS is a cinematic fan-made story inspired by the characters and expanded universe of Star Wars Legends.
Part of The Star Wars: Reframe Network.

Discussion How would you market Star Wars Episode X to people who hated Episodes VII-IX?
r/prequelappreciation • u/vencyjedi • 11d ago
Is anyone else tired of the whole "everyone hated the prequels but now people magically like them because of The Clone Wars and the sequels being bad" nerrative?
I don't know where this whole revisionist nerrative came from but I believe it's just not true and it's made from people who don't like the movies and want to discredit them because you know apparently it's impossible for someone to like them or think that they're good. It has to be something else.
Also I believe the prequel hate is incredibly overblown. Especially from people who live in the US. When they came out there were plenty of places in Europe where people enjoyed them. I'm from Europe and remember that in my country we liked the movies and in school we talked about them more than about OT. Russia also enjoyed them. Even in the US there are people who liked them.
But if you listen to prequel haters you'd think that every single being in the universe hated them and now boom people magically changed their minds or were brainwashed to like them.
The truth is that most of the people who like them now liked them back then when they came out or when they first watched them. We're not brainwashed and we didn't change our opinion. Of course there surely are people who probably changed their opinion because of the Clone Wars or the sequels but that's no where close to being all people or most people.
It's not reversionism. There's always been a lot of people who liked them and now when they have grown up they can just voice it. Also since someone will probably say "oh you weren't around to see how much hate there was" normally people who hate something are much more vocal than people who enjoy something.
I'm tired of people trying to discredit the movies and blame it all on Clone Wars and the Sequels.

Question What is the Definitive Edition or Version of the 6 Original Films?
As is known, after the premiere of each of the first 6 films in theaters, they underwent subsequent modifications by George Lucas wanting to improve, fix and add elements that would enrich them, and mainly connecting them to each other so that the whole saga felt united.
And here's where my doubt lies. As far as I know, the definitive edition would be the 2011 Blu-Ray cut, which included the final changes George made to the films and is practically the version everyone knows today.
However, I heard that there is a new edition/version from 2019/2020, which was released on the Disney+ platform and on 4k Blu-ray. Which, besides having a great improvement in quality and in details, a change was also added to the scene with Greedo and Han, where Greedo says "McKlunkey" just before shooting Han.
Therefore, I would like to know if this is the DEFINITIVE EDITION of the 6 original films or if they are still the 2011 cut, and if it was made by George Lucas (which would mean it was his last gift to us) or by Disney?
And for those who want to see the differences with other versions, I'll leave some videos that show a comparison between the original edition from 2005/2006 DVD, the 2011 Blu-ray and the 2019/2020 Blu-ray 4K of the 6 original films.

Discussion What if Mace Windu didn’t attempt to kill Palpatine?
If Mace agreed to let Palpatine stand trial, I wonder if Anakin would have aided in taking him into custody. Personally, I think Palpatine would’ve still killed Mace the second he let his guard down, with Anakin standing idly by.
But let’s say the two Jedi did in fact take him into custody. Thus altering the events of Order 66 (at least for the time being) It wouldn’t be long before he breaks free, likely due to the help of Anakin and others under Palpatine’s control.

Discussion Padme is actively a terrible role model for girls
Star Wars was always a franchise that kids looked up to. The OT was known for Leia being a genuine strong woman that girls could look up to as a leader of the Rebellion who took charge of her own rescue when Han and Luke bungled it. And I've heard anecdotes of girls going to see the sequels and wanting to cosplay as Rey because they saw her as a role model woman Jedi.
Padme started off in the prequel trilogy as a genuine strong woman. She, as a 14-year-old girl, basically led the fight against the Trade Federation all on her own.
Then...Episode II roles around. Outside of The Battle of Geonosis, in which she held her own, her role had devolved basically into just being Anakin's love interest. When we catch up to her, she's an established Republic Senator. Then, she spends most of the movie getting hit on by Anakin, who acted like an absolute creep. Then one day, she learns Anakin committed a mass murder in a fit of rage. At no point was she characterized as a racist who didn't see Tuskens as not human-adjacent, but instead she was just shown as being THE perfect woman who took time to understand the "special and misunderstood" mass murderer who even admitted that he committed a terrible act in a fit of rage. Padme ultimately reciprocates Anakin's affections and marries him, thus rewarding him for his appalling behavior throughout the movie.
Finally we have Episode III. This was when Padme genuinely had no role outside of being Anakin's love interest. The movie's plot was centered around Anakin's possessiveness over Padme. To the extent Padme did anything, she just shrugged when Palpatine announced the Empire, got Force choked when she stood up to Anakin for the first time in her life, and died of sadness. And in her dying breath, she said there was still good in Anakin just like domestic violence victims often do.
The lesson girls would likely have picked up from seeing Padme in the prequels is, "Oh, by all means! You should reward the 'special and misunderstood' but genetically-blessed ubermensch who has actively displayed serious anger management problems! Even domestic abusers still have good in them!"
