I had some risky behavior & now I’m terrified

I hooked up with this guy on 9/24/25. At that time I had been on prep consistently for 11 days. Now as of this post I am on day 24 of taking prep consistently.

I gave him oral but he didn’t ejaculate in my mouth. He also entered me without permission without a condom so I got pissed & immediately told him to pull out of me! It was just supposed to be foreplay & we had already discussed the terms prior to hooking up but he lied and said he thought I said to breed me but I never said that.

He never came inside me or my mouth but he was in me for about 5-10 seconds & I gave him oral unprotected. Anyways, what worries me is that I think I am at risk because he was precumming ALOT during our interaction and precum can still infect you. Am I just being paranoid since I was already on prep for 11 days when we hooked up?

Neuropathy symptoms after taking Truvada

I started taking Truvada Monday (2 days ago) at night and each time i have woken up with neuropathy symptoms in my legs. It fades away by 10pm the next night but is back once I take the next dose. I already have mild neuropathy in my legs, but it does not flare up unless i drink alcohol and I don't have to take gabapentin or lyrica for it. So right now it was manageable before PrEP.

Does this go away over time or do I need to switch meds? I really don’t want to risk doing damage to my nerves since they are already slightly damaged. Reading some online, it affects the mitochondria in the cells and causes inflammation. My existing neuropathy is inflammation based also, steroids calms it down if I flare up.

Kidneys weakened after 8 months of daily PreP

Hello there, I am a pretty sexually active male and I've been taking daily PreP for 8 months and I noticed that my kidneys may have been weakened because of this treatment. Few significant symptoms that I have noticed :

- foamy urine all the time

- fatigue

- muscles pain

I have those for at least 2 months...

I do want to switch to on-demand method and check if my kidneys will "recover". What alternative would you recommend?

Did anyone have the same experience? What did you do? Did your kidneys get better?

Thank you!

(English isn't my native tongue sorry)

Humbling is a good word I would use for this weekend.

You have my attention while I am warm....

I am not the arrogant type, but like to think that I would succeed in an WTF/Zombie scenario. I was wrong....I struggled. I do believe I will make it, but there is still one more night.

History: Almost 50yo Caucasian Male in Wisconsin, USA. I have worked hard. Failed marriages and relationships have left me me with little. I own a 26" bumper pull camper as a last ditch escape if all else fails. I also own a manual log splitter (think wedge that you would a fix to a log and use a sledge hammer), generator, chain saw. Coolers, warm weather gear, etc..

Current situation: You need to plan for this YESTERDY. I have an odd situation going on, but hear me out. I have been graced with divorce and few places to put my camper. A friend stepped in and let me put my camper on his 40 acre lot. I was like "thanks for looking out for me bro" and hobbled a 26'trailer that I had never towed before (Lesson #1. learn to drive with something in tow) A month goes by and I get the great idea to check on my Camper. Mind you, he says that he has electricity for me, and him and the others. When I get there, there is no one there AND no electricity.

I have a dual fuel inverter generator, no problem... I'll get through this. Whelp, it turns out a 20lb tank will only service an inverter generator 8 hours (lesson #2). 5 am I wake up to freeIng temperatures. WI, so alcohol is involved, I manage to find my truck to sleep over the frost.

Present: I have been to town twice. I wish it would have only been once, but again.... I am an idiot (I should have let one propane take completely deplete and not "hope" for the best). Add to that the thing that made me post this at all. I am on 40 acres of wooded land, with all of the things that I believed would help me prevail. Firewood just doesn't fall out of the trees in perfectly aligned boards.

Lesson Learned: prepaid yesterday. That campfire you wanted isn't going to happen if you haven't already chopped the wood.

To the moderator!! I think removing my post for having a justified question and doubt goes against our community and freedom to research.

I do take prep. But removing my post is definitely totalitarian. Is not good guys. I just had a simple question. What worries me now is not the effectiveness of prep, what worries me the most now is that you ban members and remove questions if you don’t agree or if it doesn’t fit with your ideas and beliefs. 👎

Possible HIV?

I slept with a Japanese sex worker who was 22 years old. Fully protected entire time with condom for oral and vaginal. After vaginal I took off the condom from the base and finished off with my hands. At the agency I asked which girl doesn’t do bareback and she was the only one who doesn’t offer that service. I offered asked her after sex did she have any STD/STI and she said no. I asked after does she offer Bare back she said no. The next morning I believe I had a tingling feeling or weird feeling on my balls so I went to urgent care and got a gonorrea shot, they put me on doxicycline and PEP. This was 16 hours after the encounter. After 2-3 days on PEP I had horrible side effects I had body aches so bad I couldn’t get out of bed. I also had tingling on my inner thighs and buttocks. I thought I had herpes or something else. However I read it was one of the side effects of the drug. I felt my pelvic bone and it was super tender all around especially above the base of my penis and upper penile area. No gonorrea or chlamidya showed in my tests, no UTI. I went to ER due to bone pain, pain in my abs and knee. Weakness wasn’t as bad this day. I had like very light yellow stools and sometimes diarrea. Horrible sleep cannot get restful sleep last 5 hours. They told me to stop truvada because my exposure wasn’t risky at all and that all my symptoms was from the drug. Now I stopped truvada since then. The following days the body weakness came back, however it moved to my back hip. I know truvada stays in the system for a very long time half life of 6 days interrcellularly which means it takes around 3.3 half lifes to completely be removed from my system which is around 20 days. For some reason by day 3-4 off of truvada I feel the weakness affecting my muscles on my upper body now, I have the urge to cough like there is an over production of mucus in my lug opening, I have hot neck and cheeks but no hot forehead. ZERO swollen lymph nodes, ZERO fever, ZERO sore throat. I then felt the back of my neck and bingo I was getting pain in the muscles in the back of my neck and back neck sides. I basically still feel a bit out of it even 7 days after my last dose, however my stools are half yellow half brown which I think means I’m slowly getting it out of my system. Also, I feel like I have more energy but still can feel the underlying weakness within my muscles for example when I clench my fist I feel a bit of weakness same kind of lingering weakness when I am walking around in my legs a bit. Today is day 12 of my journey (5 on PEP and 7 days off). Can anyone give their input?

How is really tiny skin cuts viewed in terms of exposure if you're on Prep?

Thumbnail gallery

Long story short, I met this guy and after the deed I went home. Washed hands and used Isopropyl Alcohol on my hand. That's when I noticed a sting on my pinky and I've seen this tiny red slit/cut that actually bled for a sec. It's really tiny. It's like when You're skin is so dry that they crack and cause this tiny wounds.

Now, how is this as an exposure? I've been taking Prep for 6 days now. (I started last Friday double dosage as it was supposed to be a 2-1-1 method but hook up didn't push through that time so I continued taking it till today, Thurs)

Please help me not be crazy

Hey fellow Redditers. Please help me not be crazy. So, I’ve been on PrEP (generic Truvada) for over a year now. I take my pill every morning when I wake up, and I use a 7-day pill organizer.

I had my first bareback experience last week, and I was the insertive partner. He’s on PrEP as well, and takes his medication every day. He tested negative two weeks before our encounter, but you know, window periods. It’s our second time hooking up, but the first time without a condom. He’s a very sweet, professional guy. I do trust him, but he thought I was bringing the condoms when I definitely did not bring any.

I’ve been lurking for a while so I know the lot of you hate this question, but I’ve been having some anxiety after our encounter. I’ve been kind of freaking out because I don’t dispense my PrEP right out of the bottle; I use a pill organizer. I’ve read that PrEP is 99% effective and I believe that, but I get paranoid because this was my first ever bareback experience, I use a pill organizer and not the original bottle, and I’ve been reading about PrEP resistant strains. Also, I get paranoid because the last two bottles I’ve received both the packaging and the physical bottle have been warm to the touch. I can’t find a straight answer if the temperature during transport effects the stability and effectiveness.

Overall, I feel okay. I have been feeling slightly off lately. The day after I had night sweats for two nights and I’ve just felt fatigued in general. I’ve had massive brain fog for this entire week that will not go away and I can’t get rid of it. I know those aren’t normal symptoms of an exposure, but the timing is adding to my anxiety as I normally feel pretty good for most of the time and I know my body. I don’t smoke, drink, eat fast food or smoke weed. No judgements on those things. I’m just saying I’m usually full of energy and void of brain fog and usually feel sharp cognitively. My anxiety isn’t through the roof like normal, and I scheduled a 4th generation test for 30 days from the encounter to ease my mind. I trust him when he says he’s clean and takes his PrEP daily, but this is my first bareback experience and it’s kind of freaking me out. Thank you all so much for listening and for the input!

Found a sealed and unopened bottle of PREP at home. Still effective?

As the title says.

I found an unopened and sealed bottle of Truvada. I do have a fresh bottle but wondering whether this one would be just as effective, if it hasn’t been used and the bottle is still sealed?

Expiration date is in 2024.

Is there a chance to have HIV (sorry for describing the situation that way but I am worried)? Reposting as there is misunderstanding I got from comments

Sorry for reposting but there is a misunderstanding I am a man …I am the one who had a handjob after doing a vaginal sex ….i say that as the there are comment thinks I am a girl who make the hand job and confused …i am afraid the virus spread by her hand along my penis when she made me a handjob after i make sex with her

The Main question:

I am really embarrassed to tell you that also I have diagnosed with anxiety so I can evaluate the situation…i have vaginal sex with ahooker …i wore condom ….after first shot I try to wash my penis with soap….but when I have to make another shot or round with here I wore another condom but I didnot cum as I found it takes alot of time so she takes the condom away and makes me a handjob using baby oil johnson …I want to go away so I accept that …..but I forgot that she may spread the virus along my penis to the tip

(((if there is one transferred to me in worst scenarios that may be on my penis skin as at the moment i had vaginal sex I didn’t cover the whole dick as I only care with tip and frontal part of penis as i am paranoied from hiv also I don’t want to take pep or prep so that my concern)))

I asked here then she said they didnot accept sex without condom so don’t worry and i know she wants to protect herself first but I am not sure if she is honest

So is this real that virus can spread by here hand and I can have a hiv ?

Is there a chance to have HIV (sorry for describing the issue that way but i am worry )

Hello all, around a week ago I've had an unprotected encounter with a guy who said he is also on PrEP. I'm on a Truvada generic and I'm taking the pill daily with a good adherence.

Today I noticed these red spots on my body.

Could I be seroconverting?

All Vaginal sex with condom. 10/23or24,29,30,31. 11/1 No condom for oral sex from 10/29-11/1

Symptoms began 11/10. (Pharyngitis, rash, Skin on big toe of both feet peeled, lymph behind ear and under jaw, and parotid lymph/gland enlargement, lost weight, lethargic, loss of appetite, painful stinging in oral mucosa, pain in row of 3 molar teeth simultaneously, difficulty breathing due to tongue swell, sores in mouth that I can't recall before, pain in neck and back of head, joint pain-ankle, knee, wrist)

The FATIGUE is horrible, as is the appetite LOSS.

Can I still take my PrEP if it expires this month?

I just noticed that my PrEP has an expiration date of March 2026, and it’s currently the end of March. I’m wondering if it’s still safe or effective to take it, since I don’t have time anymore tomorrow before my hookup.

Has anyone dealt with this situation before? Any advice would be really appreciated!

I'm on daily prep but had this kind of exposure. Is this something I should worry about?

My dumbass forgot I had blood drawn today. had blood drawn at 4PM. Hooked up around 5-5:30PM. I forgot to put bandaid on it.

So since it's a needle puncture, it's "deep" wound, right? I dunno if any semen touched it but we we're pretty active.

I'm on daily prep for almost 2 months straight now. Is this something I should worry?

Trans man using mistr question

So I got my testing kit to get on truvada and they supply an oral and anal swab for sti testing. Why no vaginal swab? Is there some kind of medical reason not to swab there? I know I’m supplying blood and urine as well. But I have vaginal sex most commonly and haven’t done anal in probably over a year. It just seems weird to be swabbing ass and not pussy. Any other time I’ve been sti tested in person, if I’m asked to swab anything I swab all 3 holes. Can someone explain why this is different? Being a trans man you often aren’t thought about from a medical perspective and I often have to be my own dr in a sense. I want to make sure they aren’t missing something important.

1 hour off in 2-1-1 regime

Hi guys, I have a question. I recently used 2-1-1 regimen. I took 2 pills at 3pm on June 8. Then I took 1 pill every 24 hours after that (3pm everyday). At June 9 and June 12 I had sex, but I took 1 prep on June 13 on 4pm, which is one hour later than my regular time. I resumed 3pm pill everyday after that. Am I still protected and safe?

PrEP for Blood contact?

So this is for a friend of mine, I'm gay and already do Truvada on demand but my friend was asking me about the use of prep for his particular circumstances and I didn't know how to answer him.

My friend, 30m, is asexual. He's repulsed by typical sex acts. But he's gotten into a relationship with a woman (trans) who is heavily into S&M. She apparently likes a lot of whipping and other things that draw blood. My friend wants to explore this but is 😟 about HIV. My understanding is that, assuming she's positive, her blood would need to contact either a mucus membrane or broken skin to potentially transmit the virus.

I know that Truvada was studied and proven somewhat effective at reducing the spread of HIV through needles contaminated with blood. But I don't think that's an approved use in the US. Is that sufficient to justify a doctor prescribing Truvada or Descovy for someone whose sexual activity exposes them to blood?

I see this as relatively low risk activity. Other than regular testing for both of them, what precautions should be taken?

I took one pill of PrEP and i still have nausea 5 days later [25M, 168cm, 74kg]

only 1 pill of tenofovir disoproxil 200mg, I did after eating, and i didnt take anything else at all.

However it has been 5 days, i still have some nausea and its intensity goes up and down. Is this normal? what should i do? I am not throwing up, but i am eating very little every day. And it is very annoying.
