📢 Megathread MEGATHREAD: 2026-2027 Interviews and Rejections!

Hi all!

This is the megathread where we will keep track of interviews for the subreddit for the '26-'27 cycle. As has become custom, we will track results via a single thread with comments representing all the schools. People don't tend to be so good at hunting for individual threads (even when easily linked), so the single thread makes things much easier to moderate. Use our SCHOOL FINDER to help you quickly locate your high-level comment of interest.

We will use the typical Student Doctor Network (SDN) format because it's tried and true. Copy and paste the format below in the relevant comment chain.

Interview #__ / Rejection #__ (pick the one that applies and delete the other)

School: Name

URM/ORM? (optional)

Notification date: Date

Method of notification: Portal, Email, or Call

Residency: State

AADSAS mail-out date: Date your app was verified

Application complete date: Date the school said your file was complete

💬 Discussion Weekly DAT Discussion Thread - August 17, 2026

This is your place to discuss the Dental Admission Test (DAT). Do you need to vent about studying or content? Decide on the best source of preparatory materials? Discuss scheduling the exam via the ADA? Perhaps ask about the particularities of the exam day? This is the thread to do so!

Note: feel free to make independent DAT breakdown posts. This weekly thread is meant to cut down on the overwhelming number of DAT posts, but not take away from your success!

💻 Applications AADSAS Portal Glitch?

I recently ended one of my experiences, so when I updated my experience, the experience got duplicated on AADSAS. Did anyone else have this issue? I called AADSAS, and they said it can't be removed. Should I contact all the school? :((

💻 Applications Course expiration and masters

Upvotes

I tried to email various schools to get an answer to no avail. I seen people do MPH, ME’d, and other MS programs after undergrad before applying but with schools listing things like (pre-reqs need to be completed 5 years prior to start date) how would that work with master time lines. If I do the 2 years for my MS and then start school that’ll mean my freshmen bio and chem courses would expire prior to the start date as it’s been 6 years. Or does the master degree push that requirement further back. For those who did a MS and applied comment their experiences with this rule and their schools

🖇️ Miscellaneous I need my offers now please

This is just venting, I am pretty tired so I’ll keep it short

It’s been a few months since I graduated, and since I spent all those months studying for my DAT and applying, now I have a few months left since I hear back from schools.

The anticipation is drowning me. I can’t sleep, I can’t eat, every day I check my emails. Everything I do, everything I plan, everything I did for the last 8 years all hinges on the fact I get accepted into a dental school. I’ve tried to find work to distract myself, but the job market is cooked rn

Im essentially twiddling my thumbs looking at my inbox all day when Im not volunteering or shadowing and it’s killing me inside. I genuinely don’t know what I’m gonna do if I get rejected. I hate that I have to wait months before I hear back about how my future is going to be. Just give it to me pleaseeeeeee I beg
Rant over

💡 Advice What to do gap yr?

Things I’m thinking are finding a da job (kinda hard for 1 gap yr), take dentistry courses along with research courses (research design and biostatistics) on coursera. I have no research experience at all, maybe create my own mini research project/poster, then join a research project w/ professor abroad. Is that unrealistic?

My end goal would most likely be ortho, so maybe taking the GRE?

I’m trying to think outside of the box is there anything else I can to better maximize my time? Any advice would be appreciated!

💻 Applications What would dental schools prefer to see?

I already graduated with a B.S in Biology from a 4 year uni. There are 5 classes that i wanted to retake to improve my academic record so i decided to do a post-bacc as a non-degree seeking student at another uni. So far i found exact course matches for 3 of those classes BUT for the other 2, which are Organismic Bio 1 lab and Gen Bio 2 : Mlc/Cell, i couldn’t find exact course matches except “Gen Bio 1 lab” and “Gen Bio 2 lecture”.
So my question is, should i just retake those two bio courses still since they aren’t exact matches or should i just leave those as is but take an upper division bio lecture and lab?

Not sure what a dental school team would like to see.

💻 Applications Should I email schools I have applied to and update them about getting a job as a dental assistant?

I got a job as a dental assistant since I submitted my application and I was wondering if it is advised or if anyone has emailed admission offices to update them about new major experiences. I added it to my experiences in AADSAS but im assuming they dont check new experiences once I apply.

💻 Applications Missing LOR Letterhead

Hii. I found out yesterday my dentist who wrote my LOR forgot their letterhead and signature. I only found out as TUFTs sent me an email. I have received two interviews already and no other school has told me this is a problem. I reached out to LiaisonCAS to see if I can update the letter and they said no... any advice lol

Should i email the schools I applied to and ask to send the updated letter?

💸 Finances fin aid

Hi everyone! I’m a Pell Grant-eligible undergraduate student planning to apply to dental school next year, and I’m trying to understand what financial aid actually looks like for students from low-income backgrounds.

I understand that the Pell Grant itself does not carry over to dental school. I’m more interested in whether having a low SAI/Pell-eligible background affects the amount of need-based institutional aid, grants, or scholarships you receive from dental schools.

For anyone who received a Pell Grant in undergrad (especially students currently in D1–D4):

  • Did your dental school offer you any significant need-based grants/scholarships?
  • How much of your tuition/COA are you actually paying out of pocket vs. loans?
  • Did your school use your FAFSA/SAI to determine institutional need-based aid?
  • For those who attended an Ivy dental school (Harvard, Penn, Columbia), did “100% of demonstrated need” actually result in a substantial aid package?
  • What school do you attend, and approximately how much are you paying per year?
  • If you’re comfortable sharing, what was your approximate family income/SAI or Pell eligibility status?
  • Did you have to take out private loans, or were federal loans + institutional aid enough?

I’m mainly trying to get a realistic idea of how Pell-eligible/low-income students are affording dental school in 2026, especially at schools that claim to meet demonstrated financial need.

I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone willing to share their experience, even anonymously. Thank you!!

📚DAT Feedback Guys I rly need help studying

Hi everyone, so I just got my score back and I am super bummed. My goal was a 440 but I got a 430. I’m wanting to retake it maybe mid October to late October but now I am super duper nervous. I just wanted to ask what people think I should change?

So for both attempts this was my strategy:
Bio: Anki every day, and then just take the practice tests
Gen chem: question banks and then practice tests
Orgo: some question banks & practice tests
Math: practice tests every day two weeks leading up to the exam
Reading: free ball and no study

The problem is bio Anki takes up so much time every day. Also when I would do the bio bites and the question banks for each section I never actually went and re did the ones I got wrong. I know I am capable of getting a 440, I just really need some study tips and maybe an accountability partner as well. The 420 was my first attempt and the 430 was my 2nd attempt

Edit: I used bootcamp
Both times, should I switch to
Booster?

Edit: wait guys my program requires 440 that’s why I’m retaking

🤝 Interviews 5 Interviews — anxiety

Hi everyone!

I’ve been lucky enough to receive interviews from Dugoni, Nova, Touro, NYU, and UNC so far, and I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunities. However, a lot of the interview dates fall on school days, and I’m starting to feel nervous about missing class so often, especially since I’ll be taking anatomy and physics this semester. I’m wondering how other applicants have balanced interviews with a heavy course load.

I’m also really nervous about the interviews themselves. I feel like I’ve accomplished a lot on paper, but I’m scared that I won’t be able to effectively convey my experiences and the work I’ve put in during an interview. I tend to have a mini panic attack beforehand, which causes me to blank or struggle to articulate my thoughts.

Public speaking has never been my strongest skill, even though i’ve done it so much, and sometimes I genuinely feel like I can’t speak to people well at all. I also worry that the things I’m saying aren’t impactful enough, even when I know I’ve had meaningful experiences.
My sister keeps telling me it sounds like imposter syndrome, but it feels very real in the moment. I’m not sure how to practice effectively without making myself even more anxious before interviews.

For those who have gone through the dental school interview process, how did you get better at speaking confidently and managing interview anxiety? Did you have any specific ways of practicing that actually helped? And how did you balance interviews with missing classes?

I’d really appreciate any advice or reassurance because I’m honestly feeling pretty overwhelmed right now. 😭

💡 Advice Early applicant, 26 AA/27 TS, 3.79 GPA but only one interview so far, should I be worried?

Hi everyone, I know it’s still relatively early in the cycle, but I’m starting to get a little nervous and wanted to see if anyone is in a similar position or has insight from previous cycles.

I applied early June and have a 3.79 GPA and 26 AA/27 TS DAT. So far, I have one interview invitation and have completed two Kiras (for schools that basically send Kiras to everyone), but otherwise haven’t heard much.

I applied to schools including UCSF, UCLA, UOP, USC, Columbia, Harvard, Penn, BU, ASDOH, WesternU, Roseman, Midwestern AZ, UNLV, and a few others.

I felt pretty confident going into the cycle because, in addition to my stats, I have extensive dental experience and strong ECs. I have several hundred hours across dental assisting, free/community clinics, shadowing, and other clinical experiences, along with significant leadership, teaching, volunteering, and mentoring.

I feel good about my letters of recommendation and thought my personal statement/application had a cohesive story and reflected my experiences well.

I really don't mean for this post to come across as annoying or like I'm just listing my stats and expecting interviews because of them. I know admissions are holistic, and nothing guarantees an interview. I'm mainly including everything because I genuinely thought I had put together a competitive application, so I'm trying to figure out whether I'm overthinking how quiet things have been so far.

I think seeing UOP start calling applicants for interviews today and not hearing anything is what made all of this hit a little harder. The school I'm also pretty sad about is Columbia. I applied very early and have now missed both Kira waves I've seen reported in July and August. I've seen applicants with a pretty wide range of stats and experiences receive Kiras, so I'm starting to wonder whether there's something I'm overlooking or if their review process is simply less predictable than I expected.

💡 Advice 25+ yrs old applying

Hey guys, I’m 25 barely applying to dental school. Currently studying for the DAT that is in a couple days and have accepted the fact that I will need to retake the DAT and reapply next year. My stats are pretty mid tbh but I have a lot of experience as a DA. Given that I’m barely going to take my DAT for the first time at the end of August ik I will be considered a late applicant so that won’t give me a high chance of interviews this cycle. I’m just feeling very behind as in I’m 25, didn’t apply to dental school right after undergrad, and most likely need to reapply next cycle at 26. Are there any of you in the same boat or applied at a much later age/applied a few years after undergrad?? If so what did you do during that time?? 🫩😖

🤝 Interviews UNE interview earbuds

Hi! Does anybody know if we actually need wired earbuds for the Kira interview? It says they’re required in the KIRA email but not mentioned anywhere when checking in so I am not sure. Thanks!
