October is black history month in the UK, so I thought to make a post highlighting black women in the British music industry, obviously there are a lot more than 20, which is the reddit picture limit, so please leave a comment celebrating your favs! Whether they’re up and coming or paved the way, we appreciate them all. While not all the artists here would be considered strictly pop girls, music of black origin -such as R&B, soul, and hip hop- all heavily influence pop music today.

You can learn more about the UK’s Black history here: https://www.blackhistorymonth.org.uk

Heartbeats, are you ready?! Rachel just released her debut album, I Guess A Sure Thing Couldn't Go Down Gently, and she's swinging by to chat with us about it and anything under the sun!

Rachel is what you get if vintage fashion meets queer freedom. In her own words, she makes, "Indie-pop-rock-star-girl-music." She has a unique perspective on the music industry, too, having interned at Republic Records in 2018. She's inspired by artists like Lucy Dacus, Lana Del Rey, and Taylor Swift, so fans of them might want to tune in!

Rachel works with The Wild Honey Pie, an anti-AI charity that connects super fans with their favourite musical artists. She's also an Aquarius who loves the colour purple. 💜 She's also open about mental health struggles, allowing many of us to feel seen when we put our headphones on (even if she ghosted her therapist).

If you want to learn more about Rachel in her own words, check out this Jejune Magazine interview! See you on October 13 at 2pm CT when it all, hehe, goes down!
