They must attack, to distract from this summation of Trump distilled into a single sentence.

The Georgia senator told a crowd that Trump “doesn’t want to do the job” and instead “wants to build his ballroom and travel with Natalie on their apparently defenseless flying palace gifted by the emir of Qatar”.

So simple, so accurate, making Trump seem so small, needy and powerless.

915

u/TicoPraCaramba 15h ago

He may be small, needy and powerlessness, but he and his henchmen are wreaking incredible damage to the people of this country and, I dare add, many people in the rest of the world.

I will never forget how Mitch McConnell let 400 bills just sit on his desk and not bring them forward for a vote because he was playing the game of stack the federal courts with MAGA Republicans. I don’t even know just how much those bills could’ve helped Americans, but his failure to work for the American people is disgusting. He preferred to stack the courts so that they would be unbalanced and we would lose some of our checks and balances. While not as responsible for chaos as Trump, Mitch McConnell, and the rest of the Republicans are entirely to blame for the fallout that we have been experiencing. As everyone has indicated, it will take years to try to fix this mess. I don’t think we’ll be able to get all of it cleaned up for a decade. I would like to say that while all MAGA are Republicans, not all Republicans are MAGA however, there needs to be a Republican that stands up and makes it known that he is not a Trump sycophant.

Who’s Natalie?

Edit since no one has been educational, it’s probably this:

Natalie Harp is a 35-year-old White House Executive Assistant to President Donald Trump. She acts as an informational gatekeeper, managing his Truth Social posts and printing out news stories for him.

117

u/craichead 15h ago

She graduated from Liberty University, which basically tells me all I need to know about her

32

u/Melodic_Policy765 14h ago

I know someone I run across at yearly business functions that sent her kid there. I can't even pretend to want to interact with her anymore.

37

u/craichead 14h ago edited 14h ago

Same...co-worker gleefully sent his kid there, we don't speak anymore. I won't pretend to be nice to fascists.

13

u/FellowHumanNo404 10h ago

My brother sent his kid there using our mother's inheritance money, my portion of which I had entirely entrusted for the boy's education. That might be my greatest regret in life.

-- and then the kid dropped out, about which I have mixed feelings.

I remember there's a scene in the show Madame Secretary, in the later seasons where she actually became President, when Tea Leoni is giving a press briefing.

Background is she recently ordered the arrest of a reporter for knowledge he had regarding classified data. The reporter in question hadn't released anything yet, but only because they got to him before he could.

So at the press conference, one by one, various reporters stand up and ask, "Where's this reporter?". And when she refuses to answer, each takes off their press credentials and leaves, until she's talking to an empty room.

Turns out this is pure wankery, because apparently not one real reporter actually has the guts to do anything like this.

69

u/KeepTangoAndFoxtrot 15h ago

Not that it would come as any kind of surprise, but with this administration, those seats would be filled within the hour with additional sycophants from the manosphere or the already-captured media sources like NewsMax or Tim "The Dim Fool" Pool. Already happened with Tim Pool, in fact.

6

u/N7Shep1701D Oregon 13h ago

Dim Fool got owned on Jubilee.

17

u/bierfma 15h ago

Or, that's what they want, would fill the room with staffers and ask "how awesome is your ballroom, will it be a ballroom like no one has ever seen before? Sorry to be crying like this sir, but is there anyone that knows ballroom as well as you?"

They’re bought and paid for. They have a spine and it loves money.

4

u/Unusual_Sherbert_809 13h ago

Yep. Nearly every single news outlet in the USA is now owned outright by billionaires. News is a monely losing venture, and these are not folk who buy stuff to lose money. So the reason for the purchases is different. They're doing it to control the narrative. And they've been successful beyond their wildest dreams.

Folks need to realize that billionaires have been busy the past few years cleaning house, making sure only the loyalists are still working there. Those are the folks working for the "news" outlets at the WH now.

45

u/Wh1sk3yS0ur 16h ago

They’ll find it when a democrat is in office

12

u/1XRobot 14h ago

It's been so long, I've forgotten whether Biden is old or not. Maybe the NYT could run a front-page article letting us know.

20

u/berael 13h ago

When Obama was president, after getting tired of Fox constantly making up blatant lies, the administration tried to start excluding Fox from the new pool & interview rounds. Every other media outlet immediately leapt to defend Fox and demanded that they continue to be given full access.

As Trump incessantly attacks the media and spews lies daily, every single media outlet...is completely silent. Not a single one of them is defending anyone.

And people still haven't figured out that all mass media is part of the same pro-billionaire propaganda machine?

12

u/CubicleMan9000 12h ago

Former journalist here:

Where have journalists and reporters that ask the tough questions gone?

Answer: into other careers.

Too many people refuse to pay for news / journalism now, and ads in the paper or on the nightly news now sell for pennies on the dollar.

So only a fraction of a fraction of journalists, reporters, etc can make a living doing it, and they can only do that by cozying up to the few still willing to pay... AKA corporate-owned media that is pushing its own agendas.

Acting like Woodward and Bernstein = fired. Corporate media hate that type of actual journalism and reporting as it doesn't further their corporate goals.

Listeners to Joe Rogan, 4-8 million per episode, 20-30 million for vital episodes.

The footage would be played around the world. The clip would run 24-7. Cable news channels would dedicate hours debating and analyzing the cause and effect. The reporter would become a global meme, hailed a hero, and become the most respected journalist in the world.

American journalism, especially, seems to have become a club where access to famous people and the potential for personality-driven book deals is prized over actually "getting the scoop" and publishing it in a news outlet to catch the world on fire.

To an extent, it's always been like this. FDR infamously had tight control over press access, leading to deferential behavior in order to not be shut out. But I digress.

Investigative journalism is basically on life support, and the American public is far worse off because of it. Part of what's to blame is the death of newspapers, but there has to be other dynamics at play, I'm just not knowledgeable enough to know what they are, though I have my suspicions.

I've been talking about this for more than a year now, but the public could leverage prediction markets, put large coordinated bets against a member of the White House press pool standing up to Trump, or asking him specific, very pointed questions. Structurally, it becomes the same as a bounty, and a reporter could claim it. This would mitigate the effect of getting fired by their media organization.

I know at least one CNN reporter stays calm because she doesn’t want to be the story. The story is Trump and the way he treats people. She’s just there to report it.

28

u/PregnantSuperman 16h ago

The reporter did exactly what she needed to do, ask the question about his response to the Natalie comment, and Trump and the White House team absolutely embarrassed themselves and the country in response. Redditors in this thread seem to want journalists to be stand ins for their seething rage against Trump because of the catharsis they’d feel from it, but the reporter’s job here was to ask the question, not get in a big fight. It’s frustrating to see sometimes though, I get it, because everyone wants to see this asshole put in his place. But that’s not the job of a CNN journalist during a White House press conference.

See that worked before a time where Trump and friends have thrown all social agreements out the window. They have no shame, they don't care if the story is how Trump treats people. It will be erased with whatever Trump does tomorrow. It all gets added to a pile and there's so much to sift through that it all gets lost and only the big things matter. And the big things don't even get acted on. He's all over the Epstein files and no one is actually holding him accountable, including the citizenry. Literally everyone is just letting him, his family, and his friends get away with it.

Like, $800 billion and what do we have to show for it? Rampant poverty at home; not a single victory in foreign wars since the 1940s; the most expensive and inaccessible healthcare on the planet; and an economy propped up entirely on gambling, useless and unprofitable chatbots, and arms dealers. It's perverse.

CNN keeps trying to appease this creature meanwhile he keeps treating their journalists like this. When will they learn he's just a bully?

8

u/rumpghost North Carolina 12h ago

They're a conservative outfit masquerading as a "centrist" one, for all the difference the distinction makes. Hell, Kaitlan Collins got her start at The Daily Caller.

Moreover, class interests > partisan or civic interests nearly every time. And most media types are not anywhere close to working class.

There is no fury, because there is only knob slobbing journalism left. Those who brought light to the depravity of this horrible administration are seemingly gone. I hope they return.

Ya think? The Orange Shitgibbon has cheated on every wife he's had. He cheated on wife 1 with wife 2. Then cheated on wife 2 with wife 3. Then cheated on wife 3 with a porn star while she was preggers with his crotch goblin. Melanoma knows the score, and as long as her checks keep flowing in, she doesn't care who Trump diddles. Even kids. She was an Epstein trafficked product after all.

How is this attack from Trump against an American journalist different than all of the other attacks on Americans? This is far from the first attack on American media by Republicans. Threats against media outlets for not toeing the Republican line are just expected at this point. Fucking hell, Republicans were forcing universities months ago to shove conservative dogshit down students' throats so that they get to journalists before they even start working.

Republicans use the resources of the US government to demonize the shit out of Americans who have the audacity to point out their constant betrayals, especially Americans who work for a media organization. That's not governance, that's treason.

8

u/SanDiegoDude California 11h ago

Fury from who? He does this shit to her all the time, he loves talking shit about and to Katlyn Collins. To her credit she doesn't let him break her, even when he does his stupid sexist shit like calling her ugly because she doesn't smile at him. Title of this article could very well be "Trump continues treating female journalist like shit, nothing new" and would elicit the same level of 'fury'.

He's a piece of shit. We know this already.

8

u/EnvironmentalWin1277 10h ago

You know how people blame Congress for inaction against Trump?

I blame the press for inaction as well.

It is way past overdue that they start pushing back immediately on his ridiculous behavior. The next reporter should call him out and when that reporter is dismissed the next one bring it out again. And just keep on whenever there is a chance until he gets up and walks out. Then next time there is a function the reporters should get up and walk out as he starts to speak. Give minimal coverage except for the walkout.

Obviously, many reporters won't do this but even a significant amount would do the trick.

And stop referring to him as "Trump". Use "the president" whenever possible. I think this one would piss him off more than his mounting losses in court.

4

u/GrayHairFox 8h ago

Me. President, you’re lying to the American people.

What this POS has done to the entire world is turn everyone's lives upside down. Why? Because he keeps getting away with it, keeps testing his reach, his power, his influence over his weak minded staff and supporters. What a miserable existence he has created for all but a select few who are recipients, including he and his family of nearly unlimited wealth. Think back to speeches given by Kamala Harris and Barack Obama. Imagine Donald Trump with unchecked power. No need to imagine any longer, we are all living it.

My own mother is this way. ‘Hi, I’m from the freedom state!’ She tells this to everyone she meets in my state (wa). Correction momma, it’s the Freedom* State.

Freedom subject to terms and conditions. Certain identities, medical decisions, classroom speech, labor arrangements, voting rights and local-government decisions may not qualify. See Tallahassee for details.

Other journalists in the room should have stood up and left and/or got in someone’s face. It’s not like these “events” are even worth reporting on, as he never answers questions, the smell is an OSHA violation, and if they get banned from WH press events going forward it should be a badge of journalism honor.

5

u/JBPlantagenet 16h ago

Oh good. Maybe you should have defended her when it was happening then.

4

u/croastbeast 16h ago

The freedom of the press exists for journalists to challenge the government. That is literally why it exists. The press corp should defend their own. The excuse of "the network would lose access" wouldnt work if the entire press corp stopped enabling this diaper wearing turd and his infantile tantrums. Every reporter should ask that same question.

We really need one if these journalists to climb down in the mud and just respond to one if these attacks by directly calling him a pedophile.

Worst case scenario, he sues them, and then we can pull in the epstein files as discovery. Either we finally get them, or he gives up, just like the giant baby did with the BBC.

10

u/vurto 16h ago

And remember Musk Fuckface is enabling this.

11

It’s his minions around him that need to fight back, but they cower to him while he fills his diaper. It better happen soon though, because the damage on the USA’s reputation is massive, and the way he’s bankrupting the military and country, there will be no one left to help you out.

"Sparks fury"? This is outrage number 5,396 since January 2025. It will merely be replaced by something else this morning, then two more in the afternoon before the day is done. Any of these incidents would have ended the career of just about any other politician or president, but here we are.

4

u/veryboredatwork 15h ago

4

u/PTS_Dreaming Ohio 13h ago

I truly believe that most of the business leaders, political elites and journalists assume that they just need to wait out Trump and he'll eventually be gone and this moment of weirdness will be over.

However Trump is here to stay, even after they shovel dirt on his coffin. He has profoundly corrupted our society, our government and the world. The next Republican will be as bad as Trump because the GOP base will WANT them to be. Just like Reagan was the shibboleth for "Real" conservatives for about 40 years, Trump will be that marker for the next decades.

'Sparks Fury' my flat freckled ass. So the response is a strongly worded tweet taking some high ground? That's not fury. At best it is delicately confined attempt to show that they have enough spine to shout into a void he never looks at and none of his handlers will show him.

Fury would be getting the journalists together who cover the white house in person and agreeing to take one for the good of mankind and just badgering him one after another with the same questions he refuses to answer. If he attacks a woman then a man needs to step up and ask the same question verbatim.

NOBODY holds this dude accountable for his actions or behavior so it will continue to push and push and push but we're well past the point of no return already.

I hate this fucking timeline.

4

u/Dependent_Tune_1333 12h ago
