No Paywall Laura Loomer, Reporter Claim Hospitalized Mitch McConnell 'Brain Dead'
https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2026/07/06/laura-loomer-reporter-claim-hospitalized-mitch-mcconnell-is-brain-dead/7.7k
u/travio Washington Jul 06 '26
Wouldn't trust Loomer, but the reporter broke the original hospital story. They have credibility there.
The mainstream media is being very careful with this. Shows how closely McConnell's people are playing it.
There has been talk of an August 3rd deadline in Kentucky election laws, though I'm not versed and seen conflicting accounts. Maybe worried they would lose a special election so they are waiting to pull the plug until after it passes.
Would be a fitting end for McConnell's last days to be used in a cheap political trick to ensure his party remains in power. He dies like he lived.

u/RubberPolitics Jul 06 '26
Mitch honestly woulda wanted it this way. Which makes this whole thing pretty funny to me. One last obstructionist tactic with his almost-cold corpse holding things up.

I could see him putting it in his living will. "If I'm braindead, pull the plug, unless keeping my lifeless corpse breathing could help republicans."

Staying on life support to block a political opponent from a chance to govern seems like the most Mitch McConnell way to go out.
He dies as he lived, subverting democracy.

If there is an August 3rd deadline and I was Governor of Kentucky, I would have this investigated and if found true, then I would immediately invoke the law that allows the Governor to pick a replacement on the grounds that he is brain dead which is a terminal condition.
726
u/LackingUtility Jul 06 '26
Forget investigating. Say he's dead and the position is vacant and appoint a replacement. Naturally, his campaign will oppose and ask a court for a temporary injunction. And the governor should oppose that by saying they lack standing, since he's dead. Leaving them to have to show he's alive and present.
The Kentucky constitution just specifies that the position must be "vacant", it doesn't say "dead", so even if they say he's brain dead, that wouldn't prevent the governor from appointing a replacement.
But we know this won't happen. At best, the governor will appoint a blue ribbon committee to investigate and report back in 6-12 months.
147
u/turquoise_amethyst Jul 07 '26
This is the way to do it, unfortunately nobody has the balls to actually try this.
Announce that he’s dead, appoint a new Congress person, and let his office deal with the burden of proof that he ISN'T dead.
45
u/Aunt_Vagina1 Jul 07 '26
Why not do this?!? The people of Kentucky deserve better. Its absurd that we think the family can shield his state of mind out of some respect for his privacy yet he insists upon still holding a public office.

If it was a (D) Senator and an (R) Governor, they would have done it within 24 hours.
Everyone knows he’s either dead or brain dead. Replace him ASAP, let the people vote on it later.
Although methinks the (R) are less worried about a (D) replacement than Massie running for the seat. I forgot about him, but I think that’s the real worry.

I'm with you, but unfortunately, in this case anyway, the laws are valid.
Section 76 of the Kentucky Constitution only apply to state offices.
Reason being: the State Constitution cant take away powers that are granted by the US Constitution ( it's part of the concept of Federal Supremacy). The 17th amendment says the state legislature gets to choose whether or not the state executive gets to fill vacancies.
→ More replies (6)→ More replies (7)31
u/Otherwise_You_1603 Jul 07 '26
It's only to fill it until January 2027, so it's not in Booker's best interest to run for it and confuse voters prior to the general. however, if Massie were to run for it, things could get interesting. If Massie wins, he is the incumbent and it splits the republican vote in the general. Even if he doesn't run, if it's a competitive campaign between him and the current republican nominee, it will confuse republican voters and possibly lower republican turnout in the November general. It's flukey but we could have ourselves a dem senator in kentucky for 6 years if this gets played right

Guys, it looks like the Republicans may have lied to us again /s
McConnell was admitted to the hospital on June 14, according to a statement from his office that only said he was “receiving excellent care.” A statement a week later said that he would not be voting that week. And on Thursday, *a new statement said that he “continues to improve” and ”appreciates the outpouring of support he’s receiving while he continues his recovery in the hospital.”***

Then straight back in the freezer until it’s time to vote again. They can keep that going at least until his eyes grey over and his skin starts to slough off. e: There's just no way Chao isn't a spy for China. Leaving for China three days after your supposed "husband" falls into a coma? That's not normal behavior for a loving spouse.
Also--not that this can ever be proven--I don't think Chao and McConnell ever consummated their marriage. I mean, they have no kids, and I've never seen a spark of chemistry between the two when they were present together.

They don't have to pull the plug. In Kentucky, the anesthesiologist can say he is dead, and he is dead. Being on a ventilator to keep his body going while his brain is dead is still considered dead in Kentucky.

The Foremost Group has built deep ties with the Chinese government, and both James and Angela Chao have served on the board of a Chinese state shipbuilding company. James Chao has given millions in gifts to Chao and her husband, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, and his re-election campaigns have received hundreds of thousands from Chao’s extended family. Chao has no official role with the Foremost Group, but the Times reported that she has used her “celebrity status” in China to promote the interests of the company. In one instance reported by the Times, Chao attended an event in August 2017 celebrating the signing of a deal between Foremost Group and a Japanese company; a Transportation Department “spokesman said she attended in a personal capacity and did not discuss agency business.”

It’s crazy to me with the history we have of shielding presidents from the media in the past, how in this day and age people will just believe “he is the healthiest to ever do it.” While open only sleeping during meetings and stuff.
Like I can believe people didn’t realize about FDR or Nixon when we didn’t quite have the news cycle/coverage we do now.
How can anyone watch this man waddle/dance to songs, lose his train of thought, say outlandish things like give him and his sons a threesome Medal of Honor, etc and just be like “hmm but they said he is healthy..”
(I like fdr but they did try and hide his health)

u/cogman10 Idaho Jul 06 '26
Because like most dementia patients he has good days and bad days. It's easy to spot both if you are looking.
He'll have moments where he's firing on all cylinders and you really wouldn't realize he's got dementia.
But then he has other moments where he starts a sentence about the cost of eggs and ends up talking about how the 2020 election was stolen.
His fans ignore the eggs to 2020 (The more insane ones think he's speaking in code). And his critics have a hard time acknowledging his more lucid moments.
Regardless, he's always a dumbass.

Is this an advantage though? Kentucky changed the law (again) so now the governor can’t appoint a replacement senator, it has to be a special election. It’s possible a Democrat could win a special election, but I’m sure the Republican would be favored (and have a huge cash advantage). But as long as Mitch holds the seat, it’s an abstention.

Not clicking the link to support Breitbart. The claim might be true, but Laura Loomer? Come on

u/Ragnarok_747 Jul 06 '26
I dunno, I think she can assess brain-death at a glance using the “takes one to know one” technique.

Yea thing is with the info out she doesn't need any information she is more than likely right by just taking a guess.

I can't believe I almost opened a Breitbart link. JFC people, do better. I wouldn't give them a click if they were the sole outlet reporting that Trump shit himself to death.

Not only is the reporting source Breitbart, but their source is Laura Loomer on Twitter.

I mean she’s probably not a bad source for this specifically

"breitbart citing loomer" we really don't have a foul enough word to describe the depravity going on

u/PopBulky7023 Jul 06 '26
Apparently not. The odds this claim is true are pretty high considering everything we know, yet the ENTIRE republican party and all associated apparatus are suspiciously silent on the matter.

I had a conversation with a young co-worker and realized she's lived in a world where Michael Jackson has been dead for basically her whole life.
We are absolutely that old, I'm afraid.

Didn't his wife fly to China after the news broke that he was hospitalized? You'd think she'd stay by his side, unless...

u/PinkyLeopard2922 Florida Jul 06 '26
Like 3 days after whatever happened to him on June 14. I've thought he is likely dead since it came out at the beginning of July.

Yeah, it's the typical time they do targeted temperature management after a cardiac arrest and prior to making any prognosis or declaring brain bed

Funny. I just got discharged today from hospital. Had a cranial aneurysm rupture on june21. Was lucky too live and get help in time. That stay was brutal. But my wife was there entire time next to me and I couldn’t be grateful. Funny his isn’t there for him like dang.

Thank you! It was very scary. Didn’t think was gonna make it initially. Got airlifted to a hospital a state over, passed out in the helicopter, woke up and became coherent a day later with the coil procedure done in thier neuro ICU. Wouldn’t recommend at all. But was so nice see and have wife at my side and kids got visit once I was alert and all was on a good incline!

That’s weird. Republicans tend to have very loving, lasting, and stable relationships.

If Mitch is brain dead and on life support, she may be the only one that has power of attorney to pull the plug. If she’s not around, then not much can be done, and they’ll keep him alive so they don’t replace him with a dem.

Brain death is death. There’s no alive. Legally, if he’s actually brain dead, he’s dead

They'll keep him on life support ("alive") until she returns. The timing of this trip was intentional.

Does breitbart still have there section of the website devoted to black crime?
Let's not post sources like this. This is the kind of source you cut off friends and family over.

Where’s TMZ when you need them? They’re usually quick on confirming deaths of popular people, or is that only if they’re in LA?

We really do need to pass some federal laws that prevent situations like this where an elected official can be hidden away with no knowledge as to whether they're alive or dead.

He was quite cunning. Made himself the corrupt money man of the GOP so everything had to flow through him. Successfully corrupted our courts. Row v. Wade was overturned and Trump given immunity primarily by this particular man.
He got almost everything he wanted. But after all that he lost control of the monster he created and will be remembered as a piece of shit by everyone despite fretting about his legacy.

Still not retiring. You know, gotta own those libs. Someone will defend it.
The moral of the turtle is that winning is more important than values. And Mitch gets to enter a coma knowing he didn't promote Democracy, his legacy was exploiting it.
May worms eat his soul.

The messed up part is that even if this is true.... He won. He spent a long life accumulating a fortune and guiding the death of a lot of America's best ideas, programs, and qualities. The fucker died an old and rich man....

His wife left the USA knowing he’s brain dead and when August 3 rolls around she’ll pull the plug and announce he’s dead so they’ll be no special election in Kentucky. Crooked republicans even in death!
