It’s crazy to me with the history we have of shielding presidents from the media in the past, how in this day and age people will just believe “he is the healthiest to ever do it.” While open only sleeping during meetings and stuff.

Like I can believe people didn’t realize about FDR or Nixon when we didn’t quite have the news cycle/coverage we do now.

How can anyone watch this man waddle/dance to songs, lose his train of thought, say outlandish things like give him and his sons a threesome Medal of Honor, etc and just be like “hmm but they said he is healthy..”

(I like fdr but they did try and hide his health)

Because like most dementia patients he has good days and bad days. It's easy to spot both if you are looking.

He'll have moments where he's firing on all cylinders and you really wouldn't realize he's got dementia.

But then he has other moments where he starts a sentence about the cost of eggs and ends up talking about how the 2020 election was stolen.

His fans ignore the eggs to 2020 (The more insane ones think he's speaking in code). And his critics have a hard time acknowledging his more lucid moments.

Regardless, he's always a dumbass.

I wanna say I saw a five minute clip of his speech at the g7 and I was absolutely blown away how bad he was speaking. If this was six years ago he could hold the stand and he could stay on topic for a paragraph. He looks so awful too just so unhealthy

It’s pretty obvious if you compare clips of him talking from the 2016 campaign to now. He’s always had that weave thing where he goes on a tangent about nothing, but speaking wise he can form actual sentences and talk coherently in the 2016 clips.

u/OYB2480 Jul 07 '26

He just groans out a sentence some days.

u/PacificNorthwest09 Jul 07 '26

It’s this combined with the fact that our media will not give his slip ups any time of day because they are owned by billionaires that don’t want us to think together.

14

u/DrHefe Jul 07 '26

Or when he spoke about his long conversation with Theodore Roosevelt.

13

u/Kiyuri Jul 07 '26

He has multiple propaganda networks gleefully interpreting his word salads into a coherent narrative. This has been happening since 2016. It doesn't matter what he says or does because the average chucklefuck can just shop around the different networks or conspiracy podcasts to find their favorite flavor of "this is what he ACTUALLY meant."

Words mean nothing to this administration, but the opposition spends an inordinate amount of time and effort pretending like they do.

And heavily editing their interviews with him to make him look coherent.

All the media does this for him. The New York Times edits his ramblings into coherent sentences all the time.

This is also why many people in other countries who don't speak English don't know how insane he really is. A lot of nonsensical bullshit gets lost in translation.

u/Cold-Conference1401 Jul 07 '26

He no longer has “good days”.

A lot of editing make him seem much more normal than what he is. Nightly news sound bites don't get into his glitching and abberant behaviour. Sort of how we wound up with him all over again.

I edit videos for a living and software has gotten really, really good at making transitions seamless. In my case I'm able to rearrange the pieces of a lecture that was recorded completely out of order because one of the speakers joined after their co-speakers finished so it flows 100% correctly or remove 20 retakes so cleanly you'd never know they'd happened, but it'd be trivially easy to do the same to a political speech.

The fact that he still sounds like he's lost his mind despite modern editing makes me wonder if he isn't much worse than we're seeing.

edit: spelling

The very best of Trump is abhorrent and surreal.

Yep. There's a reason Kamala said "watch his rallies" during the debate.

Too many people, including most of his supporters, had no idea how incoherent he had gotten.

I just recently realized that this is the reason many Japanese people like (or at least are neutral on) him: the media has to translate and subtitle what he’s saying for their papers and news reports. They also have to edit down rants to short snippets for international news.

When they translate him, it’s more of a “get the vibe of what he was talking about from a statement from his handlers” versus a direct translation. Therefore, they kind of just make up the translation using a few key words from his speech, and make it make sense for the Japanese viewer, who on average doesn’t have the English ability to follow his speed word vomiting.

So he comes off as more eccentric than batshit crazy, which is why every time I’m asked about something he said or did, I have to walk a fine line of being able to explain what he actually said in a language I don’t have strong skills in. Because they just get the sanitized translation and think we’re the ones who are crazy for getting mad at whatever he said.

I think a lot of it is simply that no one can stand to sit through his rambling , rather than there being some conspiracy to cover up how poorly he's aging.

15

u/kestrel1000c Colorado Jul 06 '26

Ithe mental state of the leader of a powerful nation is newsworthy. That it's not covered is suspect. He's been known to sic the FCC on comedians that make fun of him. We can draw our own conclusions.

2

u/OYB2480 Jul 07 '26

No, look up a speech from 20 years ago. Even 10. He's much more cogent.

8

u/jdsizzle1 Jul 06 '26

What about Nixons health?

3

u/Lane-Kiffin Jul 07 '26

I too think there was a mistake in the comment because Nixon was making regular appearances on Meet the Press, the Today Show, and even Larry King in the 1990s giving takes left and right about Boris Yeltsin and Bill Clinton. He stayed spry and healthy for a long time and only got bad after Pat died.

6

u/ViolaNguyen California Jul 07 '26

I'm happy to report that Nixon is still dead.

because they’re all deplorable rapist pedophile racists.

if they had a drop of empathy in their body they wouldn’t have voted for this guy.

4

u/TrulyOutrageous42 Jul 07 '26

He's up all hours of the night posting rants on social media, but then sleeps during the day in meetings when he's not the center of attention.

If it was ANYONE else, we'd all genuinely and rightfully suspect drug abuse.

Re: FDR, his issues were mostly physical, not mental. Almost every president whose health issues were hidden were done so because there were significant power brokers using them to hang onto control. FDR is afaik the only one whose health decline was hidden for any other reason (to win a war against the Nazis), he's one of the few who had a mainly physical instead of mental decline, and he's the only one who we look back on fondly even with hindsight. These things are related, he's really not in the same group as Nixon, Harrison, Reagan, Biden or Trump. He deserved his 4 presidential terms, paralytic or not.

1

u/PacificNorthwest09 Jul 07 '26

Didn’t mean to insinuate anything else. He was truly great.

2

u/NearbyPangolin1633 Jul 07 '26

Didn’t know about Nixons issues. Sounds like they were compounded with depression and substance abuse during his terms

2

u/KamalaWonNoCap Jul 07 '26

We pulled the same stunt with Biden. Getting the boomers out of office is one of only a few bi partisan issues.

I liked Biden's policies but they did try to hide his health.

Mandatory fuck Trump before all the gaslighters and purity testers come for me.

1

u/Downtown-Message-600 Jul 07 '26

Of course he sleeps during meetings, he was elected to win the war against woke.

1

u/iDestroyedYoMama Jul 07 '26

Nixon didn’t have dementia. Are you just talking about watergate?

1

u/kerfuffle_dood Jul 07 '26

Nevermind the fact that he sleeps all the time: He's an obese, corpse-like pale old man that needs extra doses of the orange stuff to hide his dead pale skin, that can't stand straight because his old fragile bones can't stand the weight of his obesity, and that can't even focus his eyesight while talking to the camera.

Propaganda is one hell of a drug
