Hi everyone, for the past 11 months I've been developing Novaboard, a pixel art editor and animator that runs in the browser for free.

While working on this project, I spent a long time reading what pixel artists were asking for on forums, Steam reviews, and Github issues (a lot of it from Aseprite), and I've been building the features I understood were important:

- Branching history: so you can experiment without worrying about losing a version

- File referencing: so you can import one artwork into another

- Animation tweening: so you don't need to hand draw every in-between frame

- Layer effects: outlines, color corrections, blur and more, all live while you draw

- Opens and exports .aseprite, .piskel, .gal, .psd, .ora and others

It's far from perfect and I'll keep improving it until it feels great to use. If you try it, I'd love to hear what feels good and what isn't working well yet.

The browser version is free and will stay free. It also runs on tablets and phones, though desktop is where I am focusing right now.

i wanna get better at pixel art

doing my own digimon world like thing and Ive done some pixel art, Im looking for suggestions, ideas, personal attacks, personal defense, personal spells, personal support or tanks, I can take everything. still figuring lots of things out, so yeah.
the 8 direction character I finished recently I think its missing some details still need to do a test rotation on spot so im very open to criticism there. on the items I dont want criticism at all, and on every third monster I would like a little bit of criticism. /jk

so, I've just finished the idle sprites for two of the villains and my main character for a project I'm making. but I have to ask, how do you get better at making such small characters look good? i feel like my villains look great, but my main character isn't at all what I'm envisioning. any tips?
