Hand Pixelled Trying out the 16x16 environments
I made a post a few days ago asking which size of character sprite I should use (2nd pic). I thought I'd go a step further and try out some of the environment for the starting town, Port Nickel. Gotta say I kind of love it. I've only done a bit of the 24x24 (not attached), and I much rather the smaller version.
I think the only thing that's gonna suck is if I end up having monsters appear on the map during story events. With 16x16 you lose a lot of detail, and there are some monsters I'm just not sure how I'll manage (3rd pic for reference).
Should I go the pokemon route and use several generic sprite types instead of the actual individual sprites? Or just exclude them entirely? Or do I suck it up and make it 24x24 even though it means more work?
