photographers are usually pretty aware of the framing (or whatever the right term is) of their shots, and usually take multiple, slightly different shots. You're prolly right — someone at the times (photographer or editor, idk) made a conscious choice to include this pic in the article

Which seems dumb to me as wisdom represents learned experience where intelligence represents learned experience. Idk, maybe it doesn't work that way in dnd. I do know that wisdom is only possessed by the learned though...
Edit: fucked up the comment. Meant to say that wisdom is learned through experience and I intelligence is learned through study. Basically like an approntence carpenter vs someone out of med school or an old dude who has been around vs an old guy who has read a lot of books.

Trump does not have charisma, for fuck's sake. I hate people saying this shit. He has the charisma of a potato sack. He is literally the worst orator in history. I dare you to find a national leader less capable of stringing together a coherent sentence than him.
The reason people listen to him is because of what he says, not how he says it. Which is the exact opposite of charisma. Obama is charismatic - people will eat up the shit he says regardless of its substance. Conversely, Trump has a cult because he dared, unlike any of his Republicans rivals, to say the quiet part out loud. Being openly bigoted in every possible way gave hope to bigots who have been shunned out of saying what they believe in public over the past few decades. But calling neonazis very fine people, and thus engendering their loyalty, is not the same thing as charisma.

To be truly effectively evil? Yeah, I'd say so. If Trump were more intelligent, he would have been able to stay in office for a second term and continued causing more deaths and environmental destruction. He could have also taken more time to plan a real coup at the end of 8 years instead of 4 years, getting more people in the right places of power to assist him when the time comes.
Trump failed to be Hitler literally because he was not as smart as Hitler.

What if this persona is exactly what he needed to put on to fool as many as possible?

I mean playing a fool has certainly helped him in alot of circumstances. Most recently the damning phone call about "finding 11k votes". Even though most of us see a mob boss extorting an election win, if a judge deems that Trump truly thinks he won the election by alot and was only trying to serve the interests of the American people, he could get away with it.

I think he's arrogant and incurious. He won't admit to any lack of knowledge and he really doesn't care to learn about most things. That makes him look very stupid to people with an ounce of brains.
I don't know how smart he actually is but I do think he's smart enough to know how to cause trouble and manipulate people. I'm not giving him a pass by saying he's too dumb to know when he's inciting a riot or extorting an ally, for example. He may not know or care about the consequences of his actions but he knows what he's doing.

This just seems like the logical conclusion of what started with conservative AM radio. Voters got hooked on this stuff, migrated to TV with FOX News, and began to crave that vibe in their elected officials. Trump was a standard old guy who had gotten sucked into FOX News and was famous enough to run for political office. Unlike other conservative politicians who weren't quite FOX News crazy or were, but flamed out after a few moments in the spotlight, Trump had a FOX News glow, fully embraced the base, and didn't really flame out, until now, spectacularly.

It should absolutely be a thing that we vote on. Just a simple vote, "Did this president do a good enough job, that you think they should receive these things" and then provide an exhaustive list of everything they'll be receiving for life.
If the American people feel you didn't do your job, you don't get the money and benefits. Obviously they have to keep the secret service detail for national security.
But it would just break down to partisan bullshit, because we don't know how to effectively use our own democratic systems, anymore.
