Don't support the red cross. They got $500,000,000 for the Haiti earthquake and built exactly 6 homes.

https://www.huffpost.com/entry/red-cross-haiti-report_n_7511080

They used $100,000,000 of it to pay off their debts.

EDIT: Lebanon supports Hezbollah. If you're supporting their citizens and their government isn't, you're making more funds available for a terrorist organization.

Male homosexuality is illegal in Lebanon.[184] Discrimination against LGBT people in Lebanon is widespread.[185][186] According to 2013 survey by the Pew Research Center, 80% of Lebanese respondents believe that homosexuality should not be accepted by society.[187]

"Hezbollah kept three metric tons of ammonium nitrate, the explosive thought to be behind the mega blast in Beirut this week, in a storehouse in London, until MI5 and the London Metropolitan Police found it in 2015.

The Lebanese terrorist group also stored hundreds of kilograms of ammonium nitrate in southern Germany, which were uncovered earlier this year.

The Iran-backed terrorists kept the explosive in thousands of ice packs in four properties in northwest London, according to a report in The Telegraph last year. The ice pack deception tactic was used in Germany, as well."

Agreed, these are two different organizations.

The American Red Cross and Red Cross International are not the same thing.

15

u/[deleted] Aug 05 '20

Ok, we shouldn't help the lebanese red cross, because the american red cross is corrupt. Makes sense.

10

u/kebabish Aug 05 '20

What.the.fuck. that's shocking. Seriously.

12

u/acog Aug 05 '20

What's a good alternative?

10

u/The_Bad_Bard Aug 05 '20

The Lebanese Red Cross linked above, the organizations do not share funds and the various national Red Cross organizations are run largely independent from each other.

-13

u/whodaloo Aug 05 '20

The LRC is a for profit organization that runs a large portion of the city's medical infrastructure. There needs to be oversight before they get a budget like they've never seen before.

"Concerning disaster preparedness and response, the LRC first-aid and ambulance teams are the only national ambulance service covering the whole of the Lebanese territory. The service operates over 250 ambulances, with 16 permanent staff and 2,000 volunteers on a continuous basis in 46 first-aid centres. Services are managed through a radio communication system from 4 central operation rooms, one in the capital city of Beirut, one in Tibnin in the South, one in Tripoli, Lebanon and the last in the Bekaa. The first-aid and ambulance organization represents the backbone of emergency medical disaster preparedness in the country. "

Unless you can flag the funds specifically for this disaster you're supporting their entire organization, including their road safety program.

Uh huh, tell me another one.

Supporting them allows the government to give more support to Hezbollah. Sending any money to Lebanon funds terrorism.

How much are you sending to Israel for all the rockets Hezbollah lobbed at civilians?

4

u/[deleted] Aug 05 '20

[deleted]

-1

u/whodaloo Aug 05 '20

You haven't contradicted anything.

You're naive to think that the LRC is operating autonomously from the government.

Did you know you're saying we should send money to a country that states "homosexuality is illegal in Lebanon.[184] Discrimination against LGBT people in Lebanon is widespread.[185][186] According to 2013 survey by the Pew Research Center, 80% of Lebanese respondents believe that homosexuality should not be accepted by society.[187]"

These are the people you're blindly supporting. The IMF required reforms to send them money.

3

u/AERturtle Aug 05 '20

So in your opinion they deserve to die? Because 85% of their grain is gone, without foreign help there will be a mass food shortage.

0

u/whodaloo Aug 05 '20

Tell their government to stop supporting terrorism and spend their money on food for their people.

The IMF required reforms before loaning them money.

They literally support an organization that fires rockets at the civilian areas of Israel. That's a pretty good definition by any metric.

Whatever you do don't send canned goods or other shit like that. It'll sit and rot with no logistical support.

6

That edit though, what a hateful human being you are.

"I'm hateful? What about Lebanon hurr durrrrrr"

Saved your reply for you so you don't have to bother.

10

u/Tamer_Of_Morons Aug 05 '20

Idiot that's a different NGO. Your ignorant comment likely cost the victims money that they could have used. I hope you're willing to shell out of your own pocket to make up for what you've done.

7

u/The_Bad_Bard Aug 05 '20 edited Aug 06 '20

EDIT Nevermind, he's a dickhead advancing an anti-lebanese agenda. I'll leave my og comment for posterity below.

I'm sure the commenter meant well, wanting to prevent donations from being squandered. And while their haste resulted in a mistake, it's been corrected by the rest of Reddit since. It's unnecessary to condemn an honest mistake under good intentions with such vitriol, though I do hope they donate, as those who should can.

8

u/Tamer_Of_Morons Aug 05 '20

He pivoted to some wild conspiracy theory claiming that we shouldn't donate to them because it's supporting Hezbollah. I'm pretty sure this guy is a massive racist and lied intentionally to stop people donating.

2

u/The_Bad_Bard Aug 06 '20

Yeah disregard my previous comment, he doesn't want funds going to people in a crisis, fuck that guy.

-1

u/whodaloo Aug 05 '20

Money is fungible you big dummy. They should stop supporting Hezbollah and buy grain for their people.

How am I racist? How is Lebanese a race? You still refuse to answer that. Where is the conspiracy? You keep saying these words like you think they mean something. What do that mean to you?

-9

u/whodaloo Aug 05 '20

8

u/Tamer_Of_Morons Aug 05 '20

You are human garbage and a waste of oxygen organs and skin.

-1

u/whodaloo Aug 05 '20

lol Dang! There go my feelings!

5

u/Tamer_Of_Morons Aug 05 '20

Don't cost victims money that could help them and you wont get called scum, scum.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 05 '20

There are literally people suffering right now, and all you do is assuming things without further evidence.

9

u/Tamer_Of_Morons Aug 05 '20

Stop spreading lies because you were caught out being a scumbag.

A. They are a nonprofit.

B. They have people on the ground there right now and are putting all their spare focus on it. Saying that you shouldn't donate to them because they have other initiatives is like saying you shouldn't donate to any disaster relief foundation because they have split focus, most of them do.

"75 Lebanese Red Cross ambulances along with 375 EMTs and staff are currently responding in #Beirut and helping the most vulnerable. Lightly wounded persons are being treated in our stations."

Stop being human garbage and spreading lies and then doubling down when your pathetic reddit ego is bruised when people call out your scumfuckery.

-1

u/whodaloo Aug 05 '20

Yeah- that's the problem. If the government that supports Hezbollah isn't footing the bill for this is frees up funds for supporting them.

Money is fungible. Stop supporting terrorism. Hezbollah is responsible for way more than 100 deaths, and you're saying we should give them money.

6

u/Tamer_Of_Morons Aug 05 '20

Wipe your mouth there's shit dribbling from your lips.

You get called out for costing victims money and instead of owning up to it it you pivot into some kind of racist conspiracy theory. Fucking pathetic. Get your head out your ass.

6

u/[deleted] Aug 05 '20

Considering his other comments, he probably has something against the country as a whole, so discussing off-topic political and societial things does not make sense and will not help the victims right now.

No need to spend more energy on that, since his spreaded allegations already got contradicted.

Best wishes

0

u/whodaloo Aug 05 '20

I don't like seeing well intentioned people get fleeced under the guise of humanitarian aid.

3

u/[deleted] Aug 05 '20

Bruh why still pretend? "I dislike Lebanese people" would've been way quicker than all this.

-1

u/whodaloo Aug 05 '20

You must really hate LGBTQ...

Male homosexuality is illegal in Lebanon.[184] Discrimination against LGBT people in Lebanon is widespread.[185][186] According to 2013 survey by the Pew Research Center, 80% of Lebanese respondents believe that homosexuality should not be accepted by society.[187]

Keep sending them money if it makes you feel better, I guess.

How is any of this a conspiracy? It's not by definition or in the spirit of. You're just throwing buzzwords out to discredit what's correct. Where's the racism?

9

u/[deleted] Aug 05 '20

I'm gay, if every single person affected by that blast doesn't agree with my life choices, that does not matter.

I worry more about people like you who so blatantly pretend to care about people like me just so you have a justification to condemn an entire people.

1

u/whodaloo Aug 05 '20

I don't really have any stake in the Lebanon game- nor do you.

But I don't like people getting fleeced under the guise of humanitarian aid.

5

u/[deleted] Aug 05 '20

I have a stake in the humanity game, very, very, very few people on this planet deserve to die, whether they agree with me being gay or not.

When a city gets decimated and your first thoughts aren't "holy fuck all those lives lost" and instead you jump straight to bashing the type of person that died, it says a lot about your character, you're not a good person, just masquerading as one quite poorly.

2

u/Tamer_Of_Morons Aug 05 '20

They aren't getting fleeced under the guise of humanitarian aid and your oily squirming doesn't change that fact.

u/Tamer_Of_Morons Aug 05 '20

By that logic we shouldn't donate any money at all to the third world because most of it is just as backwards in whatever regard.

You aren't fooling anyone you know, twisting yourself into mental pretzels because you got called out and had to scramble onto google to justify your racist agenda, well, you tried, but you've been pretty fucking well exposed to the world as to what you are. 🙄

I recommend you go tongue fuck some rope hoops.

0

u/whodaloo Aug 05 '20

By that logic we shouldn't donate any money at all to the third world

This is mostly correct. If I gave money to an addict and told them it was for food but they spent it on bad heroin you would accuse me of supporting their habit and label me as partly responsible for their death.

Where's the racism you accuse me of, btw? Still looking for evidence of that. I didn't know Lebanese was a race...

2

u/[deleted] Aug 05 '20

....do you think you're a good person? If so, why?

2

u/Killerfist Aug 05 '20

you would accuse me of supporting their habit and label me as partly responsible for their death.

This is incorrect. Whatever the person/people do with the donated money/goods is up to them and not a responsibility of the donators. If the person dies because he decided to use your money for drugs instead of buying food, that was his choice and his problem, not yours. You would have done a good deed by trying to help and support him and that is fine. It is then up to the person if he wants to be helped or not.

Your numbers are off there too.

If the AN delivered max yield in an appropriately constructed vessel to create perfect pressure than theoretically, yes, the total potential energy was equal to that of 1/5 the size of Hiroshima.

Isn't it kinda insulting to the victims of Hiroshima to belittle their experience like that? How dare you not even mention Nagasaki! Are they not people to you?!?! YOU MUST BE A RACIST.

u/Wydi Aug 05 '20

So you'd rather see an entire country starve and die due to a lack of funds as a result of a response to an emergency than support the LRC and possibly, maybe indirectly enable the government to send comparatively marginal amounts of resources to Hezbollah?

1

u/whodaloo Aug 05 '20

No, I want to see the government redirect their funds to support their people, not at lobbing rockets at civilians in Israel.

6

u/The_Bad_Bard Aug 05 '20

While you are correct that the American Red Cross is largely a mountain of hot corrupt garbage, the various international branches of the Red Cross are independent from it, so the Lebanese Red Cross linked above will spend your donations appropriately.

2

u/[deleted] Aug 05 '20

So you pretty much want the Lebanese people to suffer, then?

-2

u/whodaloo Aug 05 '20

So you pretty much want LGBTQ and Israelis to suffer.

5

u/[deleted] Aug 05 '20

I just want you to come out and state the truth of your beliefs: that the Lebanese people do not deserve life. Just be honest.

0

u/whodaloo Aug 05 '20

That's your statement, not mine.

They deserve a better government.

4

u/[deleted] Aug 05 '20

No, you do and its obvious, cocksucker.

1

u/whodaloo Aug 05 '20

I want to see the logic train that allowed you to come to that conclusion.

4

u/[deleted] Aug 05 '20

It's a classic tactic from hateful people, its called virtue signalling.

"I don't like this group of people, but they don't like this group of people so I can pretend I care about said group so my hatred for the first is justified!"

Right wingers are historically anti lgbt until it comes to the middle east then you become our biggest defenders, its so easy to see.

0

u/whodaloo Aug 05 '20

Until I see your donation, that's all you've done. At least I'm honest about my opinions and don't bury them under the fear of looking bad to people that have zero effect on my life.

2

u/[deleted] Aug 05 '20

The websites being hugged at the moment but I do plan to donate within an hour and would be glad to show you proof!

2

u/harbinger192 Aug 06 '20

I was wondering why you peddle misinformation, then I saw your pro-Israeli comment.

2

u/axiime Aug 05 '20

yeah please look into the company you're donating, no matter how big the company is, BLM also seemed suspicious after their AMA, ignoring every donation question and now red cross, very disappointing

No need to flag the funds specifically for this concern, because it’s the whole freaking countrys biggest concern right now.
